Overnight stays on the interstates

We are a new class B owners taking our first cruise. We are driving FL to NY and going to do the trip in 2 nights, 3 days.

Are there places where we can pull in and hookup electrical for 12 hours? We don't need amenities, or a lake, or trees. Just a place to have dinner, walk the dog, and get a few hours of sleep and be gone by 5:00 AM.

Do these places exist? What are they called?
A rest stop with electrical hookup kind of thing.

Do truck plazas offer this?

Thanks

All the CG's that have just E/W hookups that I've seen, only charge about 5 dollars more for a full hookup. $5 isn't a lot of money to save.

Now if these CG's actually had non hookup sites that cost only $10, that would save some money.

I've never seen a free place to "camp" with power, but sounds like a few exist. In general, you're not going to find a spot like this.
Use your batteries or get a generator if you have to have power.
Typically I/we stop wherever we want when it's a quick sleep on a road trip. Any or all of the above mentioned places.

Get the app RVParky... it shows thousands of campgounds, even Walmart's, Sam's Clubs and Cracker Barrel's too.

Best wishes.

As you can see the answer basically is NO. What is the power needed for? If it is heat, lay on a couple of extra blankets & get cosey.

I know if won't help for this poster but for others looking for this sort of spot, the Ohio Turnpike has camper spots with electricity and a dump station at every other rest area along its length.

NO

If you want electrical hookups, you need a campground or RV park.

Why do you need hookups when you have batteries that will let you survive one night?
Actually, they do in a few places (or used to) some of South Dakota rest areas used to have electric hookups, although I don't know of any in the east, in fact many won't let you overnight at all.

Since the OP has a class B, there should be no question as to whether the house battery or batteries will charge decently from the alternator. If they don't, it means there's something broken in the battery isolator/combiner circuitry. The battery capacity may be somewhat limited due to space constraints, though, but it should be sufficient for one night even in cold weather.

If you are associated with a lodge of some kind-moose, elk, etc-they often have overnight parking w/electric for traveling members and are relatively cheap or even free. Casinos are another option if there are any along your planned route. You can always buy a generator and use rest areas if you need more power than your batteries can provide.

We never have electric hook ups. The best thing to buy is a solar system and one more battery.

cracker barrel. no hookups but a good meal. a real good 12v battery should keep the furnace running for one night. or a church lot if your lucky you,ll find some one there and for a small donation will let you use a outside outlet.

I can't help you along your route, but in the great expanse of nothing part of the country it is somewhat common for small towns to have municipal RV campgrounds often with water and electric hookup for under $20, some places even offer the first night free. Another often cheap alternative are COE campgrounds, again many have water and electric priced in the $20 per night range, and best of all many are reservable in advance.
