Paralleling Yamaha EF2000iS with newer v2 model

We survived Irma okay and stayed under the pole barn in the 5er for 6 days until power was restored. The Yamaha EF2000iS, 4 - 6v batts & 2kw inverter did almost everything except AC.

While shopping for another Yamaha, which we can parallel to run AC, I have a question for anyone who has used the Yamahas. The newer model (v2)has improved electronics for starting heavier loads but when paralled with an older model, the system defaults to the older generator controls. My question is will this allow me to run the 12.5kw AC or not?

Not much to look into as there are a lot of reports the Easy Start does indeed work quite well for it's intended purpose. If there's a downside it's that your Yamaha EF2000iS, even the V2, doesn't offer anywhere near the surge capability as does the Honda EU2000i and as such it's difficult to say how well the Easy Start would work with yours compared to an EU2000i. I run original twin Yamaha ef2000is models and it runs my 13.5btu AC on econ mode. It does surge when the compressor kicks on and then settles down to about 25% throttle and back to idle for just the fan.

Interesting note though. When the gens are not on Econ and running full rpm constantly the AC will cycle two or three times and then overload the generators but on Econ it will run all day.

I do have the dometic soft start kit installed too.

Apologies, yes it should be BTU instead of kW.

Thanks for the suggestions about the MicroAir kit, I'll look into it.

You may wish to try the Microair Easy Start kit and see if the single Yamaha can handle the load first.

12.5 KW?! Obviously not. :E

OR, are you really asking about a conventional 13.5K BTU A/C on an RV? :h
