I just had a close call yesterday in Las Vegas on our way to Zion National Park. The vehicle in front of me decided to stop on the freeway for no good reason that I could see. Fortunately, I got stopped in time (barely) ... but it was a wake up call reminding me that these rigs don't stop like cars. Sometimes it's hard to maintain distances in high traffic areas because people love to cut in front of us when we leave a big space. That's what happened to me. End of PSA.

Happy and SAFE travels to everyone.

Gotta love Las Vegas traffic- Glad this "reminder" didn't result in injuries or damage. Driving in traffic just seems to get worse and worse because as you mentioned, people seem to have a need to continually cut into the space.

Towing in the northeast is always a game of being cut off and squeezed in front of, leaving space is darn near impossible at times. I try my best and tend to follow transports and try to leave 6-10 car lengths.

The worst road I've ever towed on is I90 through Massachusetts, it's a real cluster I'll tell ya!

Good reminder. It happened to me in a construction zone when they decided to suddenly stop traffic. For having electric brakes, my Cougar stops pretty well.........

probably did it on purpose so you would hit them then collect insurance. Happened to a buddy of mine in his 45 pusher heading to Daytona. Passed him then 10 seconds later locked it up right in front of him. he hit them they all got out of the cars holding there necks. Cops new why they did it and sent my buddy on there way and they got charged.

happened to me in Montana east of Great Falls on a 2 lane road in a construction zone. Caused by a semi who had run thru the stop signal and was later pulled over by the construction people. later on a down hill as we were being escorted he decides to pull out in front of the car in front of me then we all had to stop in a hurry. I was inches from the car when I got stopped sliding my trailer tires. The state police pulled the semi over down at the weight station just east of Belt.

I drive through Vegas several times a year and always give a big sigh when I make it. I agree make sure and give plenty of space when towing these huge rigs.

In any heavy traffic, a seasoned commuter in stop and go traffic never leaves 4-5 spaces between cars. But when towing my FW, I have to force myself to leave plenty of room from the car in front of me. It just doesn't stop well enough when compared to my daily driver. I've had 2 "slam on the brakes" incidents when towing and it taught me a lesson.
