Well here you go.
This picture says it all.

It shows what CAN be done when we rally together to get a law passed that they MUST take pets with their owners during a evacuation emergencies.

Just watching the video's of the coast guard lifting pets AND humans into government helicopters, that just a few years ago would NOT have ever happened, is proof we can make change happen.

With all the different pets on this rescue it could almost have been noah's ark!

Makes me very happy to see things go right for our pets. [emoticon]

What law is that? Haven't heard of it. Is it just Texas? Seen enough pictures of stranded pets in the flood whose owners didn't take them.

I'm with you all the way on this. Even if we didn't have a pet I would support this....

Being evacuated (like we were in a Calif. wildfire) is enough of a stress. Leaving our loved ones behind would have made it much, much worse. Our dog was with us and was a major comfort.

I don't think God had anything to do with making that law. You need to thank the people who did.

Pets are an important part of a family.

Just so long as your pet don't evacuate where I walk or in my space, I'm all good with it.....[emoticon]

I had to look up 'pet evacuation law' because I'd never heard of such a thing. I found this:

""In 2006, the federal Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act (42 U.S.C.A. ยง 5196a-d (2006)) was passed. PETS directs the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to develop emergency preparedness plans and ensure that state and local emergency plans take into account the needs of individuals with pets and service animals during a major disaster or emergency.""

But that's not a new law. What is the new law the OP is talking about?

Katrina showed how bad the problem can become. You might be able to evacuate them by land or boat, but helicopter rescue in Katrina and Harvey type events will always be difficult to impossible.

Houston Evacuation.
'Numerous' pictures of the coast guard helicopters picking up pets with their owners. And even a C-130 loading up evacuees almost all with their dogs. Pictures from coast guard showing owners clutching their dogs to their chests and both being lifted in the basket to safety in the helicopters.

There was not one that refused picking up people with their pets. Aside from the disaster itself, it was a good thing to see. [emoticon]
