This is what an auto manufacturer does when cutting a hole in the side of the quarter panel.

Notice that the steel is recessed, plus there is a way for any water, and in this case, any gas spillage, can get out and is routed to the bottom of the car.

Why wouldn't an rv manufacturer do something like this? It takes longer, and costs more.

Still think I am crazy? We're missing something here folks. As long as we keep buying them, they'll keep making them.

If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

Ok, moving on. What did I do today?

I cleaned off the 5 pieces of steel that I bought Friday, in preparation for coating them with Por-15.

That was step one. Used the Cleaner they have.

Next step, which I did not get done today, but should tomorrow, is to coat the steel with their "metal prep".

After that dries, then I can start painting them.

I almost forgot to take a picture today. This shows only 4 pieces. I had already removed one, in order to let them dry overnight.

I must apologize to all the men out there. Why?

Well, we, as men have a reputation to uphold.

I blew it, big time, today.

How, you might ask?

Well, as you know, we, as men, always, and I mean, always, only ever read the directions, after having tried everything else, and then as a last ditch emergency effort, do we pull out the instructions, and actually read them. Not only that, then we have to follow those instructions, for coating the steel.

I am sorry. I actually read the instructions FIRST, and then FOLLOWED them!

Please don't throw me out of the club. [emoticon]

I'll try to never let it happen again!

LOL!!!

Yep!

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Is that the Monaco Dynasty, or something I've never heard of?

I was referring to the purple RV.

Yep. If you look back over my many years of posts, I have never been wishy-washy about my opinions. HOWEVER, that's the great thing about opinions. EVERYONE is allowed to have them and no one is required to agree.

Gotcha. If I went to the store and wanted to buy some purple paint, my wife would have my hide! LOL!

Differing view points is one way we learn.

I don't plan on re-doing what didn't work the first time. Maybe a crazy idea, but that's the direction I'm headed.

I went to the next step today on preparing the steel for some Por 15.

I slathered on some Metal Prep from Por, kept it wet for about 30 minutes, as per the instructions. (you know, the ones that I actually read).

Then, I started rinsing off the metal prep.
