[image][image]We are tentatively in also. Headed from SOCAL, planning to hit the ferry in either Seattle or Prince Rupert, want to camp the islands of the inside passage, fish, hike, ride, camp, get off at Haines and find our way to Cooper Landing on the Kanai peninsula where we have a friend. Wife likes to fish, big time (not my thing) I'll be 50, we have a 8 yr old son. We hope to take our smaller rv a 21 ft starflyte or perhaps buy something in the 21,24 ft range newer and more reliable with less daily set up, teardown. I carry on the rig and hope to ride a dual sport motorcycle.

Still working out details, ferry schedules and complications due to having a dog.

In planning for our trip to Alaska next summer, we are thinking about leaving Jasper NP, heading west on 16 to pick up the ferry in Prince Rupert. Does anyone have any suggestions for an over-night stop about half-way between? How about any interesting things to do/see along the way? Thank you.

Hazelton BC May be a good half way stop. Although we haven't stayed there yet, we have plans to stop at K'San RV Park in Hazelton for a night or two while making our way from the Casier Hwy and heading to Jasper. We are going that way on our way home.

Take a look at the free, tree-shaded, lakeside, no-hookup city campground in Burns Lake. It has an adjacent rec center with restrooms and showers and a free dump station with a potable water fill two blocks west. A grocery and several restaurants are also within easy walking distance.

We stayed in Burns Lake on our way from Prince George to the Cassiar Highway and very much enjoyed our stay. We even did a downtown self-guided history tour while there. And, if you have a kayak or canoe (we have an inflatable kayak), the lake is very calm and scenic.

Also right on the Yellowhead Highway in Smithers is a Safeway store. We discovered that finding a grocery store near the highway in Prince George was difficult. So, if you need to stock up someplace after Jasper, Smithers is the place.

We stayed overnight right next to the Safeway store (2015) and used the wifi there, nobody bothered us the entire night.
