Let's share book ideas!

I'm currently reading Huckleberry Finn. Haven't read it since I was a kid and, no surprise, it's a lot more complex than I remembered :). And a good traveling book!

Also highly recommended, from my just-finished pile, Motoring with Mohammed. It's nothing about war -- it's a travelogue from the 80s, about Yemen. Beautifully written.
3/4 timing in a DIY van conversion. Backroads, mountains, boondocking, sometimes big cities for a change of pace.

"The Alaska Wolfman, Frank Glaser" by Frank Reardan.
This book tells the unbelievable story of Frontier Alaska from around 1910 to 1950. Glaser was a market hunter and trapper that lived alone for years in the Savage River Country near Denali NP. We walked the Valdez Trail 350 miles from Valdez to Fairbanks to select a place to build a cabin. He worked for the NPS, the US Biological Survey, and the USFWS. Glaser was around wolves every day for 40 years. He kept a sled dog team and eventually captured some wolves to use for breeding. He took his wolf dogs every where. I have read a lot of outdoor books, but this one gives me chills every night.

Science fiction on my Kindle

In my younger years, I also focused on science fiction. I liked the fact that some of the writers were scientists of some sort (I think Isaac Asimov was one), which made their writings somewhat more plausible. Now I'm not reading sci-fi, but often watch a sci-fi movie on the Internet instead. Unfortunately, many of the newer movies employ bad language, which I find offensive. I immediately cease watching such trash and find an older flick with cleaner language, or go to my next favorite genres: westerns or historical movies. ๐Ÿ˜‰
