We’re actually heading there Monday ourselves. Should be a great week. Hope the restaurants are open.

RE: Tow or drive the dinghy to the mountains?

I agree - tow the toad. If it’s an F53 make good use of tow haul and get some ear plugs.

RE: Can i put a camper in overflow at Myrtle Beach state park ?

I’ve walked through the area several times and I would not try to get a camper of any size in there. Have you tried Huntington Beach SP? I’ll bet their full too.

RE: Virginia State Park Campgrounds Reopening On May 22

That’s good news for Virginia, the people of Virginia, and those of us who might want to visit. Camping is one of the safest activities one can do safely if you follow the guidelines. Get out and enjoy the spring.

RE: "Normal" refrigerator temps

Cold beer is important on very hot days, especially when coming in from working outside. The hotter the outside temp, the colder the beer needs to be. The reverse is also true in that the colder outside it is the warmer the beer can be. I learned a long time ago if you can drink room temp beer, the less you throw out, and the less you get bitched at for taking up so much room in the fridge. The only constant is there has to be beer!

RE: Tow bar recommendations

Get a Jeep Wrangler for the toad, Ready Brute Elite tow bar and brake combo, and a Roadmaster Falcon2 EZ5 base plate. Easy, foolproof, and no power requirements by the Jeep when being towed.

RE: Generator questions

When was the last time you changed your oil and filter if it has one? Does it only do this when it’s cold or does it do it when it’s warm outside?

RE: Best campgrounds in the SE *for teens*- not S of north FL

What does your 14 yo like to do? Does he/she like hiking, swimming, putt putt, frisbee golf, or will strong internet/WiFi be more of what they want. Are you looking for somewhere you can send him off and you go your own way? Another way to look at this is where do you want to go that you and the kid can do something together, places you want the kid to experience. Perhaps you could look at places near Charleston with a trip to Patriots Point, Fort Sumter or Fort Moultrie, several plantations that are beautiful. Of course with this virus thing going on, not sure what is open or what restrictions they have.

RE: Anyone traveling yet

How the heck is someone driving in an RV, staying at a state park, or KOA, walking down the trails, going to the same grocery chain as when home, following the CDC guidelines for masks, distancing, and not touching any thing in any way going to spread the virus? If I can go to my local grocery store, pharmacy, gas station, big box store, how is going to a campground any worse? If I use my own food, cooked on my campsite or in my RV, and say squat to my neighbor how is that spreading the virus? If I can go inside a restaurant to pick up a to go order In my small town, I should be able to do the same thing near the campground. The only difference - oh wait there is none! I get it we have to be cautious and wash this, cover that, stand back. But there are ways to do things we’ve always done.

RE: Anyone traveling yet

heading to Chicago this weekend so grandkid can pack up dorm room. then california in two weeks to pick up son and bring home. going to play it by ear. I really hope you find places to stay along your route. Your trip will be something like that encountered by the great depression migration. Something your children will always remember.....and grand kids will think is a fable. Wow how depressing. At least you didn’t mention the grapes of wrath and the Kansas dust bowl. What I think they will find and see is the American spirit, people getting back to work, getting back to eating out, getting back to enjoying the great outdoors. Things will be different sure but states are opening parks, beaches, businesses, with conditions. May not be happening in California but things are looking up.

RE: Anyone traveling yet

Wish we could. June seems like earliest we can get out. Lot of the COE and Fed CGs are still closed May be time to expand your list of places to go. Plenty of state parks in your. neighboring states open for camping next week.

RE: AC Unit Efficiency

The best way to improve RV cooling is to find some shade, which is easier to do in the south east versus south west. :-)

RE: Android vs Apple

I had Android and other phone os’s and they did a decent job. While IOS does have some issues, the products just work day in day out, upgrades are usually easy to install and models are supported for a few years. As I remember Android allows different manufacturers to customize the OS which can and has created some upgrade issues. When I was a software developer many years ago I appreciated the openness of some software. Now I don’t really care and just want it to power on and do what it’s supposed to do. Apple allows me to see and update all my stuff on all my devices - iPhone, iPad, and when I blow off the cobwebs my PC.

RE: 2016 Jeep Wrangler Set Up

Not sure why the 2016 JKU Sahara requires a change to the skid plate but they did have to cut the plastic air dam on my 2015 JK Sahara 2dr. If I had thought about it I’d just take it off which I eventually did. Do you already have a tow bar and break system? If not look into the Ready Brute Elite System then get a baseplate they suggest.

Eliminate signatures

Is there a setting to ask not to display signatures except on request? Seems some folks provide their full history of RVing, which may be nice information but not always wanted.

RE: Curious

Or you let people know that after much research, you are going to buy X, and just want to know what accessories you should look at buying also. The first few responses are similar to “You don’t want to do that” or “Can’t help but somebody will be along soon to answer you question” Then there is the long running threads where someone asks a question, it’s answered satisfactorily in the very first response But the are 20 pages of “Me too”,” X2,” “what he said” Perhaps so many of us are lonely and just need to say something to somebody.
