RE: Extension cords

Find a local CG or state park and plug in as usual and use everything you need to be comfortable. Commute to the house.

RE: 15 Amp Service

Agree run water heater, fridge, furnace on propane only. Try not to use microwave, coffee makers at the same time. How you use water is up to you. If family is in the south then use it as you normally do.

RE: pressure washers

IMO pressure washer will do a decent job of getting into little areas that you might miss with just a hose and mitt but doesn’t get it really clean. I get the same almost clean when taking car through a no touch or DIY spray car wash. If I have to use a brush or mitt, bucket of soapy water and hose why bring out the power washer?

RE: Water heater question

I think you’ll need a wrench that allows for the valve. I have looked at those anode rod/drain combos and have never found one for a Suburban. They have all said for Atwood. So be sure.

RE: V 10 mpg

With my 31 ft Class A I get between 7-8 pulling a toad which seems about the norm. This with speeds maintained in the 62-67 range. For me 9+ is but a dream.

RE: Thinking about downsizing to a B

The dry bath requirement in a B will greatly restrict your options. I can’t remember a B with room enough for a separate shower. Not accepting a Ford will further reduce your options. However if you’re open to just taking a look I’d suggest you look at the Winnebago Mini Winnie 22R.

RE: Quick question about oil changes

How often do you actually drive the thing? For a variety of reasons you should take it down the road every now and then run the generator while doing it. Tires need to be run too. Changing oil once a year is a good idea and not the costly.

RE: The best Wranglers for towing?

Fuel mileage on wranglers is not a strong suit. My 2015 Sahara 2dr HT auto averages around 19, better on long flat roads. Pulls great behind my F53 ( Ford ) based Newmar. If you need sleeping room for a small person you can take the back seat out and then have room. Otherwise look for the unlimited. As far as towing, all wranglers are easy to setup for being towed.

RE: Unfair Reservation System?

Clearly they are looking for long term tenants which give them a stable income stream. Tells me they want to be a mobile home park and less a campground. Ask them how about reserving some spaces for campers away from the long term.

RE: campground to avoid

Sure would be nice to know what you’re bitching about. What is offensive to one may not be to another. Foul language should not be used in any person to person relationship.

RE: Class A with twin bed conversion

Many manufacturers used to provide two singles or perhaps twins as an option. I suspect the market for that configuration is quite small. I for one would have liked to have that option in my Newmar versus the queen. I think some do have the option but can’t remember which ones. One of the main problems is that many of the queen/king setups are in a slide with the slide mechanism being under the bed. If the bed is not in the slide then they use the space for tanks, electrical or other support stuff. Good luck

RE: Got to Winterize my old camper.

3 gallons? Seems like a lot. Not expensive though.

RE: Casita vs "conventional" small trailers

Yep look in the door and that’s what you get. I’m not a TT guy but if I were looking for a tiny TT the Winnebago Drop would be as small as I’d even think about.

RE: Electric vehicles

Batteries in all flavors hate cold. People hate cold. Vehicles with only batteries with need to provide both momentum and heat in the winter cooling in the summer. I’m sure at some point the technology will provide a solution. Putting overhead power lines on all interstate hiway, secondary roads seems a bit radical and ugly. Electric only vehicles are good in some situations. A hybrid where a power source (propane, hydrogen, ... ) can provide sufficient power the vehicle and recharge the batteries at the same time may be useful.
