RE: A Primer on Moab

Thank you Ken! Using this as a resource for this coming summer. :)

RE: Question for those pulling with an F150 Eco Boost

Towed 7k cross country 5 times (40k towing) and put 80k miles on it without a single concern. Always had more easy torque on tap than I could ever need. Loved this truck.

RE: Which campground at Custer State Park?

We've been twice, and both times Blue Bell campground caught our eye as being interesting. The covered wagon tours for the Wildlife Loop seem to leave from there and it just has a vibe. On our third visit, that's where we'll be!

RE: 5,000 mile F150 Ecoboost 10speed pulling 8,000 review

Don't consider 5K miles to be an adequate review of anything concerning longevity. report back in an additional 20K and let us know your impressions as well as what you've replaced, what broke and what you 'think' at that time. I've towed about the exact setup for 40k miles (towing) over 5 years. We crossed the country and mountain ranges each time. We switched to a motorhome now, but still have the truck with 80k miles on it. Haven't done a single thing outside of maintenance. Great write-up!

RE: Towing Jeep Trailhawk

Check out the YouTube channel for RVLove. They tow a Trailhawk and have for some time.

RE: 50 AMP and plugging in at home

I thought I was getting by with my 20amp garage plug running one A/C. However, with the recent installation of an EMS, it is shutting me down due to low voltage that I wasn't aware of. So, be careful, just because its running doesn't mean it isn't harmful. Fingers crossed I didn't do significant damage.

RE: New Tires For A Brand New Trailer

I used my original tires for 2 seasons. Tip: grease the bearings, even when brand new. I had a failure because the factory does not do a good job at it.

RE: First RV

This has been a great thread so far! The only thing I will add, and I realize I may be extreme, but instead of the 80% rule, I have found my comfort level at about 60% of maximum tow. That might not be realistic, but it does make a huge difference in safety, comfort and ability to relax while towing. I'm passing this thread along to a family member that is researching and learning! Thanks.

RE: Camping or Glamping?

I don't use the word, but do remember a time when I wondered why folks would own rigs like the one we now have. I divide our trips into one of two categories, camping or travelling. In our younger days, all we had time for was camping. Local weekend trips, etc. Tents and small trailers were great at that job. However, life changed and we found ourselves often to have time to be on the road for months. At this point, we HAD to be more comfortable and thus we ended up with our coach. Glamping? Not to me, because it isn't intended to be a form of camping. It's intended to be a private hotel. We do still use the coach for "camping". We spend local weekends in the woods and don't spend much time in it other than sleeping. So, I see it divided by use more than equipment type.

What was your reasoning for the decision?

RE: Driving 32' motorhome from Durango to Silverton

The Million Dollar Highway Clear Lake Community Off Road Adventure I hope it is okay that I post these links. We stayed in Mineral Creek and are in the middle of posting a video series on our stay there. Hope it gives you some insight. We will return there many, many times in the future. When you see the crowd in the camping area, realize this was July 4th week. I wouldn't hesitate to drive that section of road. However, the section from Silverton to Ouray is a different animal.

RE: MPG for Various Class A Motorhomes

2004 winnebago 8.1 gas and 22.5 tires. If I stay 60 to 65 I get 8 or 9. If I drive 75 I get 5 or 6. When I'm parked at the beach I don't use any gas. I like to stay at 65. I like to stay parked at the beach! :)

RE: Disclosure when selling

It's simple. Do the right thing. You know what the right thing is before asking the question. Besides sleeping better, I have usually found that information seals the sale. Even the bad things. If you can establish that trust, you can make the sale. As a buyer, I will take a known negative over unknowns all day long.

RE: How do you share camping expenses?

Whichever path you decide, decide up front. If that is too awkward, then pay for it all. We have done it all sorts of ways, whatever comes natural. Sometimes our tenting friends get their own site, other times they share our site. When sharing our site, they offered to pay half and we accepted. I don't think I would have asked. We have always just split meal duty, each taking half of the shopping and cooking responsibility. Seems to work.
