RE: This could be a problem

I kind of expected an increase in rv sales because people aren't going to want to fly or stay in motels. X2 Plus many are also expecting to Not get there old job back when things open up and might have to relocate and nothing is better than a RV when moving around trying to get work.. There is talk over 50,000 casino workers here in Vegas will not be rehired.. :E

RE: Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

Your lack of knowledge of satellite TV is now eclipsed by your lack of knowledge of satellite Internet. Get educated at the Starlink FAQ. From Elon Musk . . . "We'll have some small number of customers in Los Angeles but we can't do a lot of customers in Los Angeles because the bandwidth per cell is simply not high enough" also "I wanna be clear, it's not like Starlink is a huge threat to telcos. I want to be super clear. It is not. In fact it will be helpful to telcos because Starlink will serve the hardest to serve customers that telcos otherwise have trouble doing with landlines or even with cell radio stations, cell towers." Yes the big cities with high speed cable internet/TV will still be king in the cities, but Dish/Direct TV is king in the rural areas and with RV's and that is where Starlink will be king, Dish/Direct will lose so many customers in theses rural areas and RV's it will take a huge bite out of their profit, I suspect they might even shutter their doors or sell out to another company at a fire sale price to give it a go.. Dish satellites are rare here in Vegas, cable or tele line has the largest share of the market for internet and TV, I also suspect that is the same in every large city.. But Starlink will rule the rural areas and RV's..

RE: Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

For how long has timmac been telling us about the pending demise of satellite TV? 10 years? As I mentioned before, I don't see satellite TV disappearing any time soon. Funny how timmac only mentions the TV satellite industry but not the cable industry when he says new technologies are going to put them out of business. I'm thinking he must be a disgruntled worker that was fired by one or both of the satellite companies. Cable companies will take a small hit but they offer high speed internet to business as well as home but in large cities mostly but the dish companies try to hit the rural areas and RV's mostly and that is going to hurt their business big cause they don't offer internet.. Internet and streaming is the new way, with streaming you don't have to pay for shopping channels in your package like dish/direct does, you only buy what you want to watch and most of it is Free and very few commercials.. Old dish/direct TV with a few good channels and mostly junk channels with commercials that cost $100 a month will not make it in the near future.. 12 months and counting

12 months dish/direct TV will be asking for a bail out from our government.. Don't invest in a fancy satellite dish for your RV, it will be useless soon.. 4 Brilliant Uses for an old SATELLITE DISH! https://youtu.be/LaAf6Ltgal8 12 months and counting... :p

Dish/Direct TV is going Bye Bye Millions soon to Disconnect

Elon Musk's Internet for Everyone Is Coming Very Soon Elon Musk says SpaceX's ambitious Starlink satellite internet setup has made great steps toward providing good internet to previously low-priority locations. Musk’s Starlink plan accounts for an eventual 40,000 satellites in orbit to blanket the globe in internet coverage, far surpassing any existing satellite internet service. By years end you will get fast internet at home or in your RV anywhere, internet gets you thousands of TV programs and many are free without commercials.. Bye Bye cable and satellite TV.. https://www.yahoo.com/news/elon-musks-internet-everyone-coming-155600310.html :C :B

RE: RV Doctor Dies

Covid-19 is just another flu, Did anyone here know that the 2018-2019 influenza season killed 34,200 people in the USA? Were you hiding in your homes behind a face mask during that time or did you not even know about it? 2017 to 2018 the flu killed about 65,000 Americans but yet no lock down than.. Some older people just cant handle a bad flu or the Covid-19. Open America back up...

RE: Fireplace removal and repurposing space

Has anyone removed the Factory installed RV fireplace and repurposed the space? I don’t see is using it much. I was considering removing it and building an insert that will house and obscure cat litter box, lined with waterproof paneling, hinged front door, small pet doors for entry. Thoughts? Dang I wish mine had a fireplace and you want to remove yours ?

RE: Car trailer questions

A car trailer won't tow as well as a towed-car. Plus, with vehicle-size-creep making everything bigger and heavier, it might be nearly impossible to keep a car plus car-trailer under 5k. I highly recommend finding a towable car, or at least consider a tow-dolly. Nearly all FWDs can be dollied. And FYI all Ford Hybrids (except the new 2020 Explorer and 2020 Lincoln Aviator) are flat-towable, and there's still a small handful of other makes, although that list is quickly dwindling. I use to tow a trailer behind motorhome and did not find it towing any different from flat towing, however flat towing is easy easier to hook up than loading a car onto a trailer and no need for a trailer to deal with at campground.

RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

Update : I found a 2011 F53 manual online and it shows 7 quarts for the oil capacity, Ford made no changes on the V10 or the tranmssion from 2006 to 2015.. So it appears the manuals might be wrong on the 2006 to 2009, could not find the info on 2010. And the dipsticks might be wrong as well on these years 2006-09, 7 quarts puts my reading slightly above the high mark and 6 quarts puts my reading at the low mark, 6 1/2 quarts puts me in the sweet spot.. So if you are putting in 6 quarts you might be running the oil level to low on the 2006 to 2009 F53's if you go buy the manual.. :C Another Ford screw up...

RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

I just found out that the dipstick issue was before the 2006 3 valve V10's, it was in the 2 valve V10's around 1999 to 2003 or so. And now the newer 3 valve V10's manual states 7 quarts but my 07 manual states 6 quarts but my dipstick says 6 1/2 quarts to have it at proper level. It appears I am stuck some where in the middle of this confusing oil capacity, another Ford screw up.. So I am either adding to much or not enough oil. :h

RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

The owner's manual and Ford Motor Company are the final word here. If you're not following their recommendations, you're wrong. It's just that simple. Well it appears that some where around 2016 to 2018 the manual now says 7 quarts, did ford make the oil pan larger or is it the same and they recognize their error. I can not find a dipstick issue with the 2007 F53 model V-10 online, only the older V10's. I think the error is in my manual..

RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

Well we have 6, 6 1/2 and 7 quarts as to the replies on here, I just changed my oil over the weekend and it took 6 1/2 quarts this time with the motor craft oil filter. 6 quarts reads low on dipstick but not under the mark, 6 1/2 quarts has the oil level near the top but not on or over the mark. Yes the manual say 6 but my dipstick says 6 1/2. I never got the memo and never heard of the dip stick issue was on the 07 F-53 chassis. Also to note I have always used around 6 1/2 quarts for the past 6 years without any issues or seal leakage and I never have to add oil even after 1 year.

F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

Some say its 6 quarts and some say its 7 quarts, but every time I do the oil change with filter its 6.5 to 6.75 quarts.. The manual says 6 quarts. How many quarts does your V-10 take. Mine is a 2008 3 valve

I put Firestone FS561 on my motorhome and they ride real soft and smooth, mine are 19.5 however, they might have them in the 22's

RE: Senior Citizens Speak Up

A lot of seniors, like me, are living in RVs. If the states and feds close the campgrounds we will be paying higher park rates to stay in crowded private campgrounds that will probably raise rates even more and surely won't be less safe from a health standpoint. I sent a respectful message to the Corps Of Engineers yesterday telling them my opinion. Seniors have clout at the ballot box. Well head to Quartzsite Arizona or Slab City California, I heard its really cheap there and you can hide out from Covid-19. {china virus} :R
