RE: Campground recommendation Memphis or North Miss.

we usually stay at the Southhaven RV Park (Southhaven, MS. about 30-min south of the I-55 bridge). https://southavenrvpark.com/ My neighbor has been there and they are actually going back there again soon. They are just waiting for the tires and brake pads from 4Wheelonline and get installed this week. He said the nightly fee is around $48 and about $5 less for Good sams discount.

RE: Movie Recommendation

I enjoyed “Greyhound” with Tom Hanks. I recently watched this and definitely a good one.

RE: Maaco

About what you'd expect for the price. A friend of mine drove through a mud puddle in the driveway of the Maaco shop, and they painted right over the mud that splashed up on the fender well edge. Good paint takes a lot of hand work, hand work costs money, ergo cheap paint jobs reflect the price. But should be good enough to cover the bondo until you sell it on to the next sucker, uh, customer. That sounds like a terrible service.

RE: Fifth Wheel toppers

Thanks yes we just had the Santa Barbara storm and Florida has some good rain so considering due to rain fall ingress or am I missing something thanksWell, I wouldn't be without them, but if you're having issues with rain coming in past the slide wipers, I would fix that issue before doing anything. My uncle is looking to get toppers as well but we fixed the rain leaks first. The previous owner removed the toppers due to mold build-up and leaks. Got to finish the installation of the headache rack, truck accessories, and led lights on the truck before we can work on the fifth wheel.

RE: Big Foot Jacks

You can try using power steering stop leak, it has a formulation to re-soften the seals and restore their sealing capability. I have used it in several types of hydraulic systems. Just top off the fluid with it and go on as usual. It will take awhile to work into the system, but it will work if you had a seal weeping. I'll see if that could help my neighbor. He got this mysterious leak around the steering.

RE: Tent Camping Tricks and Cheap tricks

Another trick I learned on another site is carrying a couple of small solar powered, motion sensing lights. Set 2 or 3 around your tent , for convenience and security. Definitely feel more secure with motion-sensing lights.

RE: 5th Wheel vs. Gooseneck

I built my RV bed for fifth wheel hitch and gooseneck ball. When I had both kinds of trailers I was constantly switching back-and-forth so I put a king pin post on my gooseneck trailer so the fifth wheel hitch worked for both. That was the best of both worlds… The easiest hitching for both trailers and no gooseneck adapter problem on the fifth wheel RV. I will mention this setup to my uncle. He also has two trailers and he's tired of switching. We'll just finish installing the new suspension and truck tires on his F250 this week before we can work on the hitch.

RE: Arcadia FL RV Resorts

Peace River gets a lot of good recommendations. I have not personally stayed there. My neighbor stayed at Peace River and said they had a nice experience.

RE: ALWAYS something!

EVERY time I've gone out, in this one and the one before something breaks. EVERY time. Welcome to the sad state of the RV industry today. With RVs, manufacturers have always tried to include as many "features" as they could, just so they could claim the product had that long list of features, for which they could charge more money. But they also use the absolute CHEAPEST parts they could find, and still be able to claim the RV had the "feature". Result? An RV loaded down with cheap, plastic-fantastic garbage with very poor reliability/durability. We've all experienced it, and it IS frustrating. And the more expensive RVs tend to have slightly better equipment installed, but they still have a higher failure rate than similar ordinary household items. Your only recourse is to replace what fails, if you want that "feature" at all. Sometimes, it's possible to search and find a better quality replacement that will fit, and might last longer. Your RV's failure rate does seem to be higher than normal, but it's all part of the game. Good luck. Same reasons why my uncle prefers the older RVs.

RE: backup monitor

Okay, we'll check RV Cams when we start working on my friend's new '07 RV. The backup monitor isn't good and wants something very clear. He already ordered a new set of tires from 4Wheelonline and will be installed this weekend so we'll do the interior mods next week.
