RE: Closure Threads

X2 dissapointed to see virus info shut down or thrown on arc and then those shut down.I say leave it be. The TT person has different issues than the MH and dies the snowbird and the full timer. Let them post where they can get answers from people in same situation. We have snowbirds here that can NOT go home because NY is under quarantine.

RE: Closing campgrounds and no where to go

Wherever one's headed these days, I wouldn't want to be driving around with NY plates right now. yup I'm in Florida and they just ordered check points on I-10, 95 and adding I-75. AND flights coming from NY. Sadly the full time for rv'ers are going to be caught in the cross hairs if this. We saw a direct increase if flights and travel from NY to Florida right after they ordered a quarantine of NY. And I'm sure everyone can understand why this had to done. A flood of people coming into Florida from 'the' hotspot of the virus could totally destroy Florida and certainly would not be fair to the people of Florida who have given up so much to keep virus from spreading That said I'm not sure how the rv'er will be able to comply with the road checkpoints requirements.

RE: Homeless people coming to your favorite campground!

And....that is why some CG's have rules that everyone seems to always complain about. That eliminate that situation. Simplest rule is - The CG's that state no RV's over ten years old. BUT it allows them to let you in if your RV looks great. Not so great, they don't have to allow you in per their 10 year rule.M Second- Most good CG's say NO to camping in cars/vans/tents. Third - It took me just one month into full timing to learn and make this my fist question. "Do you allow permanent campers"? CG's that allowed permanent campers were taken off my list of CG's to stay at. I've had nothing but good experiences at CG's following my above requirements. It's all up to you where you choose to stay.:C

RE: First Timers

My wife and I are looking to buy our first travel trailer. After much research, attending shows, walking lots and speaking with just about anyone with a modicum of experience, we've decided on the Prowler 240RB. I just wanted to see if there are any others out there with this model. What do you like about it/dislike about it? How was the buying experience? Any advice or general tips? Thanks, FC It will all depend on 'what' you will be towing it with.

RE: $590,000 camper van

That's how they make them in other countries. Like Sherman tanks. I Was parked next to this one at Tom Sawyers CG. https://i.imgur.com/CHcB7R5l.jpg People were from Sweden and they 'ship' their RV over here to the US to go Rv'ing! :B

RE: Camping World/The Profit

RVFax as do car dealers when buying a car Here's a news flash. Carfax is a joke. It is not mandatory anywhere to report to Carfax. You might have some states that require to report a total etc. But, as far as service, accidents etc. it is NOT an end all be all for knowing a cars history. Just a wonderful advertisement promo as seen on tv that sadly so many people believe. :B

RE: Can I tow this and how will it feel?

Okay here are the specs. I "think" I'm figuring this right. 2017 Chevy Express 15 passenger van. 1LT. 6.0L engine. GCWR 16,000 GVWR 9,600 Van Weight 6,129 Passengers total weight: 920 Pounds RV weight: 6,660 Pounds Battery + Propane: 125 pounds …. Thanks!! Are you planning to tow this with the RV in your signature??

RE: Dinghy Towing guide

What I'm looking for is a used car perhaps a nice used 2014 -2017 that I can use as a daily driver with AWD and auto trans that gets respectable mpg and has 4 doors so I can also use it to transport my elderly parents when needed that's comfortable and somewhat luxurious with leather and quiet which has easy entry on the passenger side for both the front and rear occupants. The easiest way and the correct way is to go looking at the cars you like that 'also' fit into your towing weight requirement. Then...… 1. open glove box of car 2. pull out car manual 3. Under recreational towing it will tell you whether the car can be towed four down or needs a dolly. Straight from the manufacturer is the 'correct' answer. With my first toad, I too spun around reading all these so called complete towing articles that you will find are not complete and/or accurate. Just read the cars manual for towing specs and the door panel for weight. IMHO I will not take info on whether any car can be towed 4-down unless I read it in the cars manual. :C

RE: Plastic toilet and sink cleaning?

x3 on Soft Scrub with bleach or Soft Scrub Lemon Cleanser for that fresh lemony smell. X4 Previous owner of my first MH kept every single piece of paper/documents. Looking thru them all, he even saved the sticker that was on the toilet! It said to use only Softscrub! :B

RE: Upgrade V-10 to Turbo?

Why adding a turbo? I have a 32 ft and that V10 takes on anything I have ever asked her to do with power to spare including towing a toad. just saying IMHO

RE: Help with full timing over the winter

It's been answered by many. I can start a new list and others can jump in if you like. Too hot. Too humid. Too many bugs. God's waiting room. Too many reckless old folks behind the wheel. Did I mention the bugs? Love bugs twice a year are the worst other than the killer skeeters that keep you indoors all mornings and all evenings. Florida is a big state with 20 to 30 degree differences any time of the year. Sounds like you have only stayed in the southern part of Florida which we call the swamps! Which IS where you WILL encounter very hot temps, very high Humidity, bugs, snakes, gators, CG's sardine packed with snowbirds who don't know any better. :B I could tell you where I stay in Florida that has NONE of what you listed but does have beautiful crystal clear springs and rivers and 'real' forests with real trees, numerous CG's with trees and big sites, etc etc., but then again, I like the tranquility this area has right now without all the crazies finding out about it! :W

RE: Built in vs. Stand-alone GPS?

IMHO definitely the stand alone/dash if you use your Toad after parking. If you are towing a toad with a MH. You can simply take it with you and put it in Toad when needed. Moot point if you have brand new GPS built in in ALL of the vehicles! :B I finally found a gps mount for the dash that actually stays in place and when you move it to another vehicle mount comes with it. You can position gps any way you want over and over again. And mount won't fall off the dash like the window suction ones do. My gps and mount is as old as dirt and both still works just fine for my MH and toad. Tomtom with big screen and I speak the directions to it! https://i.imgur.com/mrMId7vl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FtR63Wwl.jpg

RE: Elkhart IN Show

Worth attending? IMHO you can see the same thing at a dealership. Not to mention if the weather turns bad that trip around the lake is death defying when any amount of snowsleet hits that road. I have a cutoff point for going in that direction after September in an RV or a car for that matter! :B And BTW: all the CG's in that area shut off their water and/or close October 3. Just something to think about. :W

RE: How cold can you go?

Can you? Yes. Will it be comfortable No. RV's are not insulated. Windows are not thermo pane and they have a lot of windows. I was in Florida where it just got close to 32 degrees for a couple of days. It sucked. You have to cover your windows with insulating material which then you can't see out to keep warm. Couldn't fathom RV'ing colder than that and with snowstorms. And in my case I have a MH with a huge windshield that also has to be covered to keep the cold out and had to insulate all three of my roof vents because the are just a plastic lid not sealed etc etc. You also have to winterize all your water lines and hot water heater. Soooo the die hards that winter camp will say its great, but for me I found it not much fun. :C

RE: Show type of RV on question page

On the topics listing page the far right hand column clearly states the particular forum for each topic. And if you click on a topic it shows the particular forum for that thread near the top of the page. You apparently missed both of those. X2 this is the answer :C

RE: Heading to Florida

This is our first year snowbirding. We will be leaving MI next week, Florida is our first destination. Having not made any reservations yet, will I have trouble finding an RV park in the Panama City area? Would like to stay for a month, then head west to the Mississippi gulf coast area, then who knows where from there. Is it necessary to make reservations in advance for wherever we head to? If so, how far in advance would be needed? No. when I was new I too had this fear if you didn't have a reservation you would never have a place to stay! It is not so. I NEVER made reservations when I went to Florida. But I didn't stay in the south though too many bugs and humidity, sardine CG's. I stay in central Florida near all the beautiful historical crystal blue springs and rivers. AND I NEVER stay at snowbird packed like sardine CG's which is where the majority go to. There are a plethora of CG's in central Florida to pick from and they have nice enjoyable big sites with actual trees. And beautiful Forests and close to the Gulf for manatees and even more crystal blue rivers springs. First I pull in and stay for the night in an area I like (all CG's have a row open just for the traveling RV'ers) If I like it I stay another night and ask the CG if they have any open sites for the month. Almost everyone I stayed at did have cancellations. And all I had to do is move to the long term section. I did this for 4 years full timing to Florida. And was never without a place to stay and put down the levelers. Google Rainbow River, Rainbow Springs, the towns of Dunnellon or Crystal River and include a 20 mile radius Good luck have fun. Come on down we'll leave the light on for you! :B

RE: Camping around Christmas time

Christmas, Florida :B Unless you have an absolute need to go to the most southern part of Florida with all the humidity and mosquitoes. The best kept secret of the north central part of Florida is just knock down beautiful. Numerous crystal blue springs, rivers for kayaking or tubing 3 beautiful forests, etc. No matter which way you go it's less than an hour from the gulf or the east coast. google Rainbow Springs, Dunnellon, Crystal river, and include a 20/30 mile radius or so. AND there are a plethora of real nice CG's all around that are not sardine crammed with snowbirds. I Snowbirded in this area for a couple of years and never once made reservations ahead of time during peak season. Shhh, don't tell everyone about this place.:C
