...In any event, people don't think this can happen. I'm telling you it can with just a stroke of a pen. I haven't talked to anybody in Air Quality in a long time but last time I did the guy I talked to said CARB was trying to outlaw my 2006 John Deere tractor. I don't know about the rest of you but a 2006 tractor with 325 hours on it is brand new to me...
Turtle - I understand how you would feel if you had an outlawed JD. I am willing to help you out. I can assist you with compliance if the time comes. Maybe we could find a CyberTruck to tow it to the California border.
Maybe there will be a cash for tractors, where they pay you to get a new electric tractor?

More ignorant politicians jumping on the BS green wagon. IF it happens 2034 will be a big sales year for ICE vehicles.
The dummies haven't said what happens to the ICE you own. Will you have to sell out if state? Wil the trade-in be worth nothing because the dealer can't sell the used unit?
If the law only applies to new units, the price of used is going to sky rocket (more than it already has).
Even if enacted ICE units will be on the road till 2055 or later.
I'll stay in Iowa where common sense prevails.
It would help if you read the article.

It doesn't ban registration in those states. Buyer will go to next state, buy what vehicle he wants, ICE Hybred, register it and drive it. Sometimes politicians have really, really stupid ideas. And, used vehicle prices will skyrocket again in those states.
Why will used prices rise? And if it doesn't happen until 2035 why do you care? Pure speculation and hyperbole.
Yes, politicians have bad ideas, yet we keep sending them back.

No one is forcing anything. No one is forcing you to go to a dealership and buy an EV today or tomorrow.
Stop fussing over stuff that isn't happening. Stop creating conspiracies that aren't there.
Ah but you're wrong. The government has pumped Billions into the EV industry making Musk the richest man in the world. Where does that money come from? It comes from tax payers. So yeah, I am being forced to contribute whether I want to or not. And if you haven't missed it by the dozens of pages of these arguments, that's the biggest rub. It is being forced - literally forced, because EV's couldn't make it on their own for the past 100 years. Capital injection from taxpayers backed by cherry picked, half baked science, forcing auto makers to bend to your will is not the way to go about it all in the mantra of saving the planet. But Ev's won't save the planet. This isn't about being resistant to change, or being dumb or being a science denier. The contrary - it's about peeing down my back and telling me it's raining while forcing me to pay for it.
So which EV are you getting and when do you pick it up?

I hate quote fests ….so @propchef, yeah Ram has had issues with grid heaters for a while.
To the point that many disconnect them permanently. Not the wiring plug short but arcing and dropping a grid heater bolt into the intake and subsequently the engine.
Would be nice to get a recall rod on both.
My solution is just to not use the grid heater. It’s not really warranted or needed until temps are below zero F anyway. The big C starts just fine without any help even in most winter temperatures.
Agree though, it’s and issue. Just like ALL other mfgs have or had major issues.
Thanks for the heads up though since I probably have a truck that’s included in that recall, just like others.
Not sure how your post related to unsold F Lightnings though….or even remotely to the subject of the thread…

As far as electric half tons, Rivian still has a 15 month waiting list. I’m not sure if there is or how long the waiting list is for the ford lightning. Prices seem to have stabilized somewhat for fords. Rivians are non negotiable.
Lightning must be zero now? Been a couple lightnings sitting in the dealer lineup in Kent, WA for at least a few weeks now.
If its not zero, it perhaps should be. Hope the dealer in Kent has his insurance paid and fresh batteries in the smoke detectors LOL.

Stellantis is telling the owners of nearly 341,000 Ram diesel trucks to park them outdoors because an electrical connector can overheat and cause a fire.
The company said Wednesday it's recalling the trucks to replace the connectors after getting reports of six potentially related fires. In one case, the owner reported that a fire started after the truck's engine was shut off.
The recall covers certain Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab trucks from the 2021 through 2023 model years. All have 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines with older heater-grid connectors.

Yea, bone-in pork butt is great but very dense and takes FOREVER to cook. Usually, if you get it up to 190-200 you can pull the keel bone out without too much trouble. I prefer cooking them bone-in.
Tonight it's leftover Ramen for us. We had SO much left over from our visit to a local shop.

I think in order to vote in local and state elections (including Senator/Congressmen), then one should have a stick and brick residence in the state and community.
One of the issues is that many have a property in more than one state. In that case, you must declare your primary residence and then your polling place is set. PO boxes don't work.
Politicians and celebrities blur this line all the time and it isn't uncommon, especially if one of those properties is in FL. One well-known person claimed NY as their primary, voted in Palm Beach, and then complained about fraud.
As long as we the people allow it, it will continue to happen.

And it’s always fun to hear from the 1/2 tons are grocery getters crowd.
Throw a slip tank and 20 sacks of grout behind the kiddy seats and hook a 5 ton trailer to your minivan or crossover and call me when it’s broken and you’re in the ditch. I got a little half ton grocery getter that will not only pull you out but haul and tow what you were trying to, with little effort and no fanfare!

Easy, we build about 80 million vehicles a year, but far and away they are internal combustion. Your task is to convert every facility in the world to EV production right now. It will take a long time, remember production heck, when Tesla started production?
Ideas are great, but real genius is putting something is every home on the planet, at a reasonable price. Large parts of Africa still do not have electricity. Maybe Asia? I haven't traveled there, but you can get a Hilux fixed by a mechanic in a mud hut in Africa.
If they don't have electricity, how can they fix a truck in a mud hut?
BTW, large parts of the US still don't have electricity. Ask the Navajo Nation. #themoreyouknow
Conversion won't happen overnight but we're past the event horizon for EVs and EV production will only grow from here.
Tesla took over the NUMMI plant from Toyota and converted it to EV production. It's now the biggest car factory in the US, making more cars than Toyota ever did. The biggest hurdles they faced were regulatory and union issues. Logistically it wasn't that hard.

The BMW plant in SC is another great example. Hybrids and conventional ICE vehicles are made in the same plant, and BMW even makes the batteries there.
