RE: Retracting jacks while unhooked

I think that lowering it all the way down in the front will put a lot of stress on the front axle, as well.

RE: Oops ??

First, post a picture so can all give you better options. Second, it seems new things are always destined to get their first scratch or damage. So yours is done now. Lets just find the best way to fix it. Third, I suggest a hardening epoxy applied smoothly. Then place one of those decals on it that looks like a bullet hole. It will give you something to chat about at fuel stations and camps. Then just enjoy your new camper!

RE: Replacing HP Metal Vavle Stems

I found a locally owned heavy truck and equipment shop to install my new 17.5 tires who also had a selection of metal, screw-in valve stems. Anyone in St. Augustine, FL, who needs heavy-duty tire service including class-a, I'd highly recommend Rays Commercial Tire Center. Its a shame that the Discount Tire Store didn't know to recommend this place. Instead they referred me to a place an hour away in Jacksonville, FL. I guess that is who they farm-out their installations for heavy-duty including the GY G114.

RE: Replacing HP Metal Vavle Stems

As far as Discount Tire, they will not touch a 17.5 rim at my local store and the rep said they won't in my area....period. I questioned the fact they sell GY114 tires and he said, "yep, but don't install them". He said they will not install any tire that takes more than 90 psi....period. Very nice about it but very definitive.

RE: Replacing HP Metal Vavle Stems

I wouldn't mind pre-purchasing my own stems to make sure I get good quality, however, I don't know about the fitment for the Hi-Spec aluminum wheels on my rig. Nothing on the Hi-Spec web site either.

RE: Replacing HP Metal Vavle Stems

I don't want to jinx myself by saying this but I have never had a tire failure in my 15 years of towables. First fiver (4 years) had BF Goodrich Commercial T/A tires. The Cameo (18months) had G614 tires. The Lifestyle has from the factory (was 6 years in Feb 2020) G114 tires. So I sure don't want to have new tires installed and then have a stem failure due to rubber age, etc., or take a chance on the wrong ones being installed.

Replacing HP Metal Vavle Stems

l'll be getting new tires soon. The originals were installed when the RV was new late 2013 so I suspect the hp metal valve stems should be replaced, too. I run 17.5 tires that have a max of 125psi and I know its important to have the proper stems. Discount Tire is mentioned here often so I wanted to ask those of you with experience with Discount if they will have these high pressure bolt-in stems? Also, mine came with longer ones and I'd like to get some that are shorter. Thanks

RE: Tires & DOT

Local Sailun dealer has 4 DOT 3919 tires. Freshest he can get for now. eBay merchant can guarantee 2119. 3919 is still 8 months old and the warranty applies to manufacture date not date of installation. Nuh, uh!! Sailun's warranty starts from the date of purchase. All Sailun tire lines are warranted against failures due to defects in workmanship & materials for the life of the original tread, or 5 years from the date or purchase, (whichever occurs first). Thanks for clarifying. This is where I misunderstood: LIMITED WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS-PRORATED STA shall replace an eligible Sailun Medium Radial Truck Tire covered by this limited warranty that becomes unserviceable due to a defect in design, workmanship, or material after the first 50% of the original tread life on a prorated basis. The amount of the allowance is determined based on the percentage of the original “Useable Tread” remaining when the tire is presented for adjustment. The percentage allowance is applied to the purchase price of a comparable new Sailun Medium Radial Truck Tire or other comparable tire brand marketed by TBC Corporation. You are responsible for paying for the price of the warranty replacement tire after the appropriate warranty allowance is deducted plus the charges for mounting and balancing the replacement tire as well as any applicable fees and/or taxes. The benefits of this limited warranty for defects in design, material and workmanship terminate once the Useable Tread of a Sailun Medium Radial Truck Tire has been exhausted or eight (8) years from date of manufacture indicated on the tire, whichever is earlier. All Sailun products are covered by an industry leading new 6-year warranty.

RE: Tires & DOT

I agree. I walked past the TVs in Walmart yesterday and I have never seen the inventory that low including the Holiday season.

RE: Tires & DOT

I can get 4 Sailun 17.5 inch tires from Amazon Prime, free delivery, taxes, etc., for $635 then take them to Discount Tire for mounting. However, there is no way to know the DOT until they arrive. A current Ebay listing has them with a DOT code of 2019 but no month. Annoys me the merchant would but the year and not the month. Just got an email for this guy on eBay this morning. His Sailuns are 2119 so coming up on a year old.

RE: Tires & DOT

My neighbor took delivery of the tires so was not correct on the DOT code. Here's the scoop. Two are made in China with dates 10-19 and 11-19. Two were made in Vietnam with dates 09-19 and 10-17. I already have return authorization for them and will drop them off tomorrow at my local Walmart. I'm not installing a tire that is 2.5 years old. There are two places an hour from me that are authorized Sailun dealers. One has prices comparable to Walmart but an awful reputation and I don't do business of any sort with nasty people. The other is a heavy truck equipment place and their prices are much higher. I will not buy tires of any brand again until the DOT code can be verified.

RE: Tires & DOT

My Sailun 17.5 637 tires that I ordered on Thursday from Wal Mart arrived today via FedEx. Their DOT code is Nov 19. Some have complained of not being able to find the DOT code on Sailun tire. Their website tells you exactly how to do so and allows your to register them for the 6 year warranty. The DOT code on the 637 tire is only on one side and the 4 number code is an a small oval just after "DOT". So the date code on them were what around 4219 on them ?? 42 would put them pretty close to mid Nov or possibly they had 4319 or 4419 putting them later in Nov 2019 ?? Correct

RE: Tires & DOT

This will only be the 2nd time for new tires on my fiver. Its kept on a driveway at home so I just lift the tires off the ground with the Big Foot and remove the tires and take them wherever. I don't mind doing it this way compared to hitching up and driving into town. I have never used Discount Tire but once for a car tire and they seemed very customer service driven. I have not inquired as of yet if they will mount the new 17.5 tires and as to whether they have high pressure metal valve stems. The stems that came on the rig are bit longer than I prefer especially with the TST monitor.
