RE: Resivlor for jacks

The reservoir on our 1987 Itasca and our 2001 Winnebago Brave are both under the hood in front of the radiator. The tank is square and the pump is mounted on top of it. They both take red transmission fluid.

RE: Time to hang up the keys...(consignment ?)

This topic kind of makes me sad. I just turned 75 and although I still can drive the motor home fine, I don't seem to look forward to heading out like I used to. I worry more about problems on the road, finding a campsite and what could go wrong. I don't want to quit RVing as I don't like to fly and don't like hotels. This getting old sucks!

RE: Auto Park Brake Issue

I meant to quote Richard's post. He posted links that should help with the auto park problems!

RE: Auto Park Brake Issue

Gene, is the small plastic tank on the auto park unit full? Mine takes transmission fluid.

RE: Auto Park Brake Issue

I have a 2001 Winnebago Brave on a P32 chassis. The auto park on mine is totally independent from the leveling system. As stated above Roger Haag (Old Used Bear) is the authority on the auto park system. Google old used bear and contact him via email, he can not hear good enough to talk on the phone but he is very good about answering emails. He will be able to help you diagnose the problem. Wishing you good luck!

RE: Cummins 5 year old synthetic oil with 1000 miles - change ?

I say go for it, it will be fine. As for the tires if they are less than 10 years old I wouldn't worry about them. I have had tires older than that with no problems, look at the condition, if they are cracked or weather checked then they need to be replaced! Most tire companies say 10 years if they are in good condition. On edit. I missed the 10000 miles on the oil. I wouldn't drive anything 10000 miles on an oil change whether it is synthetic or dino. I think that is just too far! I would say 5000 with syn oil. 3000 with dino oil.

RE: Cover Advice

I used to cover mine but I think it would be best if it was dry. That being said, I put it on dry and still had trouble with it freezing down on the roof if I wanted to use the motor home in the winter. I solved the problem by putting some things on the roof to hold the cover up so it wouldn't freeze down. I didn't have any trouble with mildew or mold.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Not very exciting but I changed the engine oil, the generator oil, and greased the chassis. Just normal maintenance, now trying to get myself to wax it!

RE: Water streaks on side windows

I try to keep my roof clean and I have those gutter extensions. I really haven't had much problem although I have had a few minor streaks but nothing that bothers me much and nothing that won't wash off easily with glass cleaner.

RE: Winter Storage - Cover at Home or Store at Indoor Facillity?

I used to cover my last 2 thirty foot Motor homes. I think it is better than leaving them in the weather, especially the sun. That being said it is a pretty big job to put the covers on, not too hard to get them off. I now have indoor storage and it is much better! I would still cover if I didn't have indoor storage. If you keep the cover on very tight the damage from chaffing is minimal. What kind of classic cars do you have? I have 3 vintage Chevrolets a '33 coupe, a '37 sedan, and a'48 aero sedan.

RE: Night stops with RV

We don't have a schedule and we don't make reservations. When we want to stop driving we almost always use a campground. They are everywhere so you don't have to look very far. We just stopped at a state park in SC and it is so nice here we decided to stay a few day. I agree, we almost never make reservations and almost always stay in a campground! Stayed in a Flying J twice in an emergency but have been RVing for 50 years and we prefer campgrounds!

RE: Should I take the RV or not?

To each his own, do what you prefer. I would rather have my RV, it is just more comfortable to me. It will cost more if yo have a bed when you get there, but I still like my MH.

RE: Is 70 the age to stop towing

Off topic but perhaps somehow remotely related: I once watched a movie in which the main character was immortal and was around 1000 years old in the movie. This character was very sad and wouldn't have desired any other person on Earth to ever be immortal like he was. The reason -> because everything and everyone in his life that he had come to love eventually was gone or had died. Maybe we all die after a number of years for our own good. :h My Grandfather said the same thing in his 90s. A man in his 50s suddenly died and My Grandfather said "why him why not me, my wife and all of my friends are gone, he had a lot left to live for".

RE: Last Post, DW has died

So sorry for your loss, we never know how much time we have left! Thanks for the eye opener as my wife is not well and yet I worry about how long our money will last but I should be trying to enjoy what time we have left, not how much money we have left! We actually probably don't have to worry unless we live to be very old and then we won't need money anyway.

transmission cooler

My 2001 workhorse chassis has a factory transmission cooler. I would like to put a larger one on because, while it runs very cool on level ground, even towing my Jeep, if I get in mountains it seems to get pretty hot, even not towing. My question is, it has nice metal screw on connections and I don't really want to cut the rubber lines and clamp them on to an after market cooler. Is there a way to buy a cooler with the same connections as the original cooler, or is that just wishful thinking?

RE: House Batteries are fully charged but acts like they are not

I would check where the negative cable attaches to the chassis ground. I have had that connection get dirty or corroded. You might try bypassing the battery cut off switch. It sounds to me like you have a bad connection some where. Good luck finding where it is!!!

RE: Problem with autobrake on p30 or p32 Chevy chassis

Here are all the answers for your AutoPark System Yes, oldusedbear is the authority on the auto park system. His name is Roger Haag (sp). He is very helpful, you have to email him as he can't hear on the phone. To answer your question, if you disconnect the auto park you will have no park or parking brake. You will have to chalk the wheels to keep the coach from rolling!

RE: Windshield Replacement Recommendations

I had one replaced a few years ago, my insurance company recommended a company. They came and replaced the windshield at my home. They did want some numbers off the old glass. I don't know what would happen if I couldn't have given them to them.
