RE: Long term storage

Our MH has been in closed storage since last fall (2019) when I winterized it. I keep battery tenders on it, I have gotten it out a couple times but never taken it anywhere. I have started the generator and ran the AC a couple times. I am not too worried about it other than starting it and moving it around occasionally.

RE: Water left in Suburban water heater - UPDATE!

What was the water like where you last used it before the rust issue? It could be you were hooked up to a water source that was high in iron content. If it was it could turn to rust while setting in the water heater. I fill our water heater in the spring and don't drain it until I winterize it. I have never had it get rusty.

RE: Any one else giving up snow birding due to the covid

Sadly, I am afraid we will not be going anywhere, didn't make it last year either, the wife's health is very poor. I am afraid we may never be able to go again as age and health is catching up with us. We even cancelled our trip to Montana this summer to see the wife's sister, mostly because of this **** pandemic!

RE: compartment door latch 96 Wbago Vectra

Try 'Winnebago parts.com' in Hanlontown, Iowa. They are not part of Winnebago but handle a lot of Winnebago obsolete parts. I have had good luck with them.

RE: Years of auto park brake

I don't believe it was just Winnebago, any make built on that workhorse chassis would have the auto park. I think it was just used on the P series chassis and when they went to the W series chassis it was eliminated because they used a different transmission.

RE: Years of auto park brake

My 2001 Winnebago Brave has it, I haven't had trouble with it but it does worry me that it could fail.

RE: Installed supersteer springs but...

I put the super steer springs in my 2001 Winnebago Brave myself. It was very difficult to get the springs "indexed" properly. I don't know how many times I took them down and readjusted them. I finally got them pretty close and put them in. The first time I backed it out of the shop I heard one of them make a noise but since then no problem. I am very happy with them, the rig sits higher in the front, it rides and drives much better, and no dxmn air bags!

I can't wait to hear from the guy getting 18mpg towing a 35' trailer. :B

RE: First time out problems

Does your MH have auto park? If it does the transmission does not have a parking pall, the auto park and parking brake are the same thing, it is hydraulically operated.

RE: When this is over

When it is over (if it ever is) I hope we are still able to use our motor home! Time is marching on and we are getting older!

RE: Leveling Blocks vs jack pads

I use them and they are OK but not as strong as wood. I have never broken one but have kind of warped them a little, since you have them, I would use them until they break.

RE: sold our class a

My wife used to drive our class C motor homes but she hasn't driven since we went to class A, in fact she rarely drives our car. The driving is all up to me. I have considered going back to a class C as I am getting older and it seems like they are a little easier to drive but now with this virus I am not sure when or if we will be able to travel like we used to. It is not just the virus but her health is failing and I don't feel as confident as I used to about dealing with what may happen when away from home. Sorry for rambling on, it is just thinking out loud about our situation.

RE: Should/will Glacier, Teton and Yellowstone open?

This is so sad and I feel for all campground owners and everyone else that has their income cut off by this terrible virus. I do believe it is and should be a national emergency!

RE: Which motorhome to buy

Unless you are very wealthy, I would not even consider buying a motor home or any luxury item right now!

RE: Iowa Campgrounds

I disagree with our Ia governor on this. It is a lot easier to social distance in a camp ground than a Walmart etc. Also there were some doctors and medical professionals staying in camp grounds to keep their families safe! Our governor shut down small shoe stores and clothing stores etc. but left big box stores open, that makes no sense to me. I think it should be mandatory for all store workers and customers to wear a mask but that is also not the case. It sees to me that common sense is not being used by our officials! This is not meant to be a political post just an opinion about what should be happening.

RE: Texans: are you gonna take this

Ha Ha, I love Texas and I am from Iowa, this was just a joke, but it was funny! Why is Iowa a state? So Nebraskans can have someone to make fun of. Ha Ha, doesn't bother me a bit!

RE: Vinyl Graphic Repair

You may think I am crazy but the graphics our 2001 Brave were getting dull looking so I tried coating them with tire shine. It worked great and brightened them up. I used it several times and now I rarely have to do it any more. I am very happy, it works the best of anything I have ever tried!

RE: class a motorhome tires

I think most brand name tires are good. I did have a cheap set once that didn't wear very long, no trouble, just wore out pretty fast. Running Michelins right now with no problems.
