RE: I Think I'm Outta Here

And this is why I am gone. Life's too short to tolerate rude people. Don’t let the door hit ya in the a$$ could be one of the reasons right there It absolutely is. It is one thing to disagree from time to time, and have spirited debates. And I have. But never to the point of losing respect. Several times I found during the debates, that I was wrong, and learned something. Disagreeing is not the problem. Just being plain mean is a problem. The reason I come here is to learn, and to sometimes educate. I thought that was what it was for. X2! It's an unfortunate trend that has been escalating for a while now

I Think I'm Outta Here

It seems like there is less and less posted here lately. Don't know why but it seems kind of dead. I'll check in from time to time but this site likely won't be on my daily list any longer.

RE: Looking for a new class C

I have a 2019 Entegra Esteem 29V. I looked at both Jayco and Entegra as well as few others. There is little substantial difference between Jayco and the Entegra. With the Entegra you get full body paint and some interior upgrades. When I bought mine there was little price difference when you subtract what the Jayco didn't offer. I have had mine for 6 months now and while there have been a few minor issues overall I love my Entegra. The J ride platform on either are great upgrades to the E450 chassis and they are the few Class C RVs rated to tow 7500#. PM me if you have questions. Greg

RE: Living Space Sound System Options?

This will be my next project in my 2019 Entegra Esteem 29V. The sound system is very poor. The subwoofer sounds like a kid beating on a tin drum. The front speakers are awful and the rears aren't much better. The head unit is hard to use, difficult to program and the GPS (tom tom) is almost useless. There is no Sirius capability. The only good thing is the Apple Play but the sound is just bad. I'm thinking I'll upgrade the speakers. Add some tweeters that are missing. Then I'll replace the woeful subwoofer. Adding an amplifier would help a lot. Then I'll consider replacing the head unit with a better quality unit. The documentation that came with the RV was woefully inadequate. I have no idea of what Sony unit I have as that information is printed on the underside of the head unit. My dealer is useless to help.

RE: Leveling Jacks pro & con

My 27' Winnibago Aspect didn't have levelers. I used ramps which worked OK. My new Entegra Esteem is at 32.5' It came with levelers and I love them. Drive in, push a button, presto, level. I think this will likely be my last RV but I'd pay extra for them. I'm getting too old to fiddle with ramps or blocks.

Snow Birding Around Clearwater FL After New Years

I am thinking of heading to Clearwater after New Years to spend 2-3 months. Will I have a problem finding somewhere decent to tie down without reservations? I have a health issue that precludes me from making permanent plans right now. Thanks!

RE: Sink covers on or off

I like the look of the long counter with them in. Mine is Corian. I like having more counter space and when I can"t put them on I know it is time to do the dishes.

RE: Any widow(er)s around here?

My wife of 44 years passed last November after almost 3 years of cancer induced quadriplegia. She knew she was dying and we had several conversations about what I thought my life would be after she was gone. I told her I was going to full time after selling the house. She enjoyed RVing until she couldn't anymore but was not crazy about full timing. She agreed that would be good for me. She also gave me her blessing to find someone else after waiting a proper period. I am now mostly timing after selling the house and living in a small apartment. The first few times it seemed like a piece was missing but the more I got out and did things during my trips, the better it felt. I adopted a small dog who is the perfect travel companion. I haven't looked for "someone else" yet but I will be looking soon. I am just starting out on this new life journey and while I am well aware of how short life is, I plan to take my time and make sure I am making decisions that are in concert with what I see as my future. I wish you happiness and fulfillment in your journey.

RE: Decisions

When I started looking I wanted to stay under 30 feet. I wound up buying an Entegra Esteem 29V. Tape measure and manufacturer says it is 32.5' bumper to bumper. Dealer told me it was 30' and the name implies it is 29'. Whatever size I notice no complications over the 27' Aspect we had before. The extra floor space is very nice.

RE: How long to return to camping after open heart surgery

I had my first heart attack about 10 years ago. I had a lot of heart damage as I actually ruptured my heart. My cardiologist told me not very many folks recover from that. I also had a double bypass done. You are lucky to have your heart repaired before you have damage like me. That said, I took my wife, daughter and grand daughter camping about 2 months after my big event. I had (at the time) a 27' bumper pull trailer and towed by an F250 V10. I had lots of help setting up and leveling but driving there was fine. Your situation may be different given what you camp in. It was difficult but it was important to me in my recovery process to continue doing things I enjoyed. Some things are off limits but camping wasn't one of them. Talk to your cardiologist and get their opinion. Maybe stay closer to medical help the first few times. Solicit help from your camping partner(s). Now almost 10 years later I am still camping but in a new Class C. Sadly my wife passed 7 months ago so now it is just me and the dog. I had a second heart attack a year ago but I have recovered completely from that one. I am "Mostly Timing". That means I have an apartment but most of the time I am off somewhere in my RV. I have chosen to celebrate what I can still do, not to mourn what I can't. I wish the best for you and your recovery.
