RE: Dead microwave

There are a plethora of sizes of microwaves on the shelves now that would fit. "Plethora" -and then some- for sure! Wonder why the need to ask? Measure. If not an exact fit - A bit of "creative molding" (easy) will take care of anything smaller than the opening. ~

RE: Pomona (Fontana) CA RV show

I see that the show this year is in a different location, and is only 9 days. Didn't it used to be considerably longer than that? Yes. Maybe. ......and - - How many days did you need?...:@ ~

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

No Campfires..........PLEASE post those CGs Call them out We should start an ongoing list that gets updated frequently That way I can pick which ones I will partonize cause I hate campfires! Not so much hate them.....it's just there are MORE & More inept campers that do NOT know how to have a campfire. They think smoldering/smokey is good vs an actual fire And then they go inside! YEAH.CGs with NO Campfires. I like the concept Please post the list - if you find one! Let the "camper" choose his option...:C Like OB - I'm in the "no thanks" group - been at too many campgrounds where you choke on your inconsiderate neighbor's smoke..:( ~

RE: Bus crash on Utah 12

RV'ing subject? I thought it was a tour bus. Are we just supposed to gawk and look at the wreckage? Why post about a disaster where people were killed? What does a person learn about this wreck? Don't ride in a tour bus? Well said. Gee Whiz - another tragedy - better post it for the ghouls. Same thing that was covered on local and national news..:S *If* you missed it - you live in a cave, with no RV. If you can't apply whatever "lesson" might be learned without seeing it *repeated* on an internet site.....it sure won't help (here). IMO - rates an "auto delete"...:( ~

Political? To avoid "politics" while discussing the instant issue is like trying to avoid discussing water while treading and drinking it. Pass on drinking the KoolAid! :E

RE: Tire cables or chains

How many folks carry tire chains or cables for their motor home? Our Winnebago Sunstar is 18000 pounds and we are planning to travel mid October from Calgary to Spokane then further west to the coast and south to California. Seems you (or your brother) posted the same question on the SKPs forums. Received good answers - if not you, go there and search "chains". Check with the DOT(s) for the states you will be traveling through - for the requirements as well as which type/s of chains are acceptable. Req's may also include date you are req'd to "have" chains with you. The state DOTs are lots more reliable than folks on an internet site..:W ~

RE: Will fifth wheel front hit truck back window?

Hi. This question applies to anyone with a 2008 or newer Canadian built Citation Supreme or Corsair Excella 5th wheel. These units have a rounded front and not a flat front. I have a Dodge Ram with a 6'4" box and a B & W Companion fixed (not slider) 5th wheel hitch mounted in the usual position between the wheel wells. Will the front of one of these 5th wheels hit the rear window of the truck on a hard turn? I'm thinking because of the rounded front of the 5th wheel I may be safe. Thanks After reading the replies: 1. Roll the dice with a test or whatever suggestion/s you like. 2. Shouldn't be any big deal - you paid how much for your truck & trailer - why cheap out...:h Buy either a manual or auto slider..:W ~

RE: Class A stuck next to house!

Try these: TurfStone concrete pavers Depending on mfgr = "TurfStone" or "TurfBlock" - size indicated, 54# ea. Used for fire apparatus access over grass area next to apartment bldgs. Once installed, we would always test with tandem axle ladder truck - 40 thousand pounds! I used them for a section of lawn between the sidewalk and the pad on the side of my house. Once grass has grown in (in the "squares") - you would never know it's under there. In twenty years - no sinking. You will leave marks on the grass. :C

RE: Surge power protector- hard wire or portable?

I have room behind a panel to put the hard wire version. But what if for some reason it goes south? Now your going to have to wire around to restore power.Make it plug and play by putting plugs on each side? If I do that why not just use a portable unit and install behind the panel? Or just use the portable unit plugging into the power pedestal? Taking the chance of someone walking off with it-water intrusion and just having to deal with every time you set up and leave. What's you thoughts? I'm sure there's more + and - to each one. I don't expect it to "go south", however -Yes- to your first paragraph. (And - no need to have it outside!) I have 3 choices with my portable PI - which is always inside - (Out of sight, behind sliding panel). Short section of cable from power panel to 50amp female plug. PI located there. Then....... 1. "Normal" = Connected to the 12V powered cord reel (pull out amt of quality -flexible- cord necessary, push button to retract cord). No "anaconda" to fight! 2. Connect to "original" wiring to the Marinco connection at the rear of the 5th wheel. (If the pedestal is in the rear) Use 15' short 50 amp extension cord to the pedestal. Only needed this once in 13 years. This also allows me to go back to "original" if I sell the 5th and wish to take the powered cord reel (& cord) with me to the next one. 3. Connect to 30amp cord - to use the gen in pickup bed. Yes - the portable is "in line" to one (only *one* of the three choices possible) with 50 amp male & female plugs. It can be removed if desired. :C

RE: 50 Amp Surge Guard Issue?

*If* it was a PI - send it in, get a replacement......but it's not, soooo...... You need to bite the bullet and get a PI. No "funerals" necessary. BTW - PI will indicate voltage on each leg. ~

RE: Where do Americans list their RV's ?

Google: Craigslist (all one word). Add the name of the city or county whereyou wish to search. Example: Craigslist: Los Angeles. You will find a lengthy list of services and "things" *For Sale* - including cars, trucks, & RVs. Then you can narrow it down by the type of RV. Listings usually include pictures of the RV. BTW - A Craigslist listing has successfully sold a fishing boat, and a travel trailer for me in record time! If you are a seller - I suggest using a voice mail (only) phone number with an outgoing message. Tell callers you will return calls in order received. You can "sort out" the obvious bogus calls, as well as early morning or late night calls. When item (RV or?) is sold, change message to reflect that fact. Besides those previously listed - another is Ebay. ~

RE: Rough Ride

Last fall, I installed a set of Sailun tires on my Montana, upgrading to G rated tires. I’m running only 90-95 pounds in the tires. They are shaking the camper quite a bit. Last week, we cravked three crock pots on the way home. Does anyone else experience this? WAY overkill on the tires. Bet it's placarded for D tires, so E tires would have been much more appropriate. I'd say run them at 70-80 and see how it rides. Sell the Sailuns and get some Endurance. Lyle Ditto on the "overkill"!..:R WHY the G rated tires??..:h Lowering the psi probably won't help...:( Shocks are good - if you don't have them already - but not going to solve the "overkill". Trlr in his profile = 29 ft and he had E rated tires previously. If true - why unhappy with 'em? (IMO X-2) Sell those "G" tires, and go back to a quality "E"...:W .

RE: Confessions of an RV Salesman

These articles are just "click bait" to promote the people/businesses running ads on their site. I know many RV salespeople, many are my friends and I would trust them more than someone who publishes an anonymously written slam piece. You can replace RV Salesperson with anything, Car Salesperson, Pharmacist, Doctor, roofer, mechanic, anything. You make up your own mind who you want to deal with and if you feel good about it you win. Nice try Mac or whatever your name really is. You should have stated, "You can replace an RV salesperson with anyone" - period! Example: Pomona (CA) RV show - it's a biggie! Walking past a display of RVs, I asked a salesman if I could have a brochure. He stated he didn't know where to find one. Having seen the stcak of them in a compt of the RV we were standing next to, I pointed that out. (He thanked me for the help). Nice guy, so foolishly, I asked a question about the RV. No clue. He said it was his first day on the job!! Same show. A friend was in the market for a high-end MH. He made an *appointment* for a test drive. The RV business *owner* (had his card) asked him to wait a few minutes. While killing time he was in the back of one of the MoHos and overheard two salesmen up front. One asked the other who is "the guy in back"? Ans: "Just some lookie loo". He left - purchased a used Foretravel from a pp. Often a buyer -even with minimal knowledge- will be better informed than the salespeople. The occupations you named *ALL* require some "background" - either experience, education - or both. (IMO) RV salespersons have only two requirements: Alive and be able to speak..:R ~

RE: Camping guide

Has anyone received a gift of a free "rv and camping guide" from recreation group in california Easy answer, "NO". What "recreation group" ?? What are they promoting?? Most likely, the "guide" is for some kind of camping membership organization. BTW - since it's free - keep or toss as you see fit..:S...:S Yes - that's a double duh! ~

RE: Camping on my lot against zoning law

If the OP is using a sewer connection and is not paying a water bill, in my town that's a " theft of service " as the sewer fee is part of the water bill. The neighbor must be a relative and used to him " mooching " stuff like the water. I say get it moved. Not sure about that " theft of service " stuff, if the neighbor has agreed to using their water. I would think it would cost the same for the water to go down neighbor's drain, and the bill is getting paid...If water and sewer are separate bills then if he's not paying a sewer bill and using the sewer drain, then "theft of services" could very well apply. However most sewer bills are collected by threatening to disconnect the water. Since he has no water connection... I kind of feel since he's living within the city limits, and paying for no city services, he's kind of a leech. All take but no give. Well said. The OP has gotten a "free ride" for 5 months. If he can do that - why not others? Surprised at the replies encouraging him to be a scofflaw!..:( Time to stop being a freeloader, be an honest citizen of whatever community - or *move* (to an RV park, or?)...:S ~

RE: How do you store your power supply extension cord

Best RV "investment" I ever made! 12V "powered" cord reel - w/ *much* more flexible 50 amp cord! Pull out amount you need - push button to retract. Mounted in front compt (pre-connected to trlr elect panel) Options: Connect to pedestal, or gen in back of pickup, or original outlet at rear of trlr (then to pedestal w/ short extension). Investment? When (if) I sell the trlr, it can go along with me (& trlr to option #3) - with the original "Anaconda" ready for the bucket brigade. :C

RE: Kidde Fire Extinguisher recall

They replaced two for me. Were supposed to do one more. After several follow ups I gave up and just bought a new one. Hope the brand you purchased had *metal* parts - handle, nozzle, etc. Back When - commercial occupancies & apt bldgs of 4 units or more were req'd to have extinguishers (or multiple extinguishers) of 2A 10BC rating. (still are - requirements may vary by local codes). We couldn't "suggest" which brand to purchase, however we would comment on which brand purchasers were unhappy with when the extinguisher service folks came around - due to plastic part/s failures, breakage, etc. (Buyer beware!) Kiddie extinguishers received low marks! (And that goes back to 1972 also, LOL) :W
