RE: New Ford 7.3 V8

A Hall-Scott in-line six, overhead cam, 1000 cubic inches is a big block.

RE: New Ford 7.3 V8

I do not get this throw back to the good old days when we had mouse motors and rat motors and little blocks and big blocks. Personally i think that those terms have gone out of style with grannie's high button shoes. I think modern day motors are what their displacement is. :h I agree. It’s why I was wondering why it is being called a “big” block...

RE: New Ford 7.3 V8

So would a turbocharged 7.3 (maybe Eco isn’t quite accurate) be a sweet engine or what? Say 650 torques at 2500rpm 450hp at 3900rpm about 400 torques at 1600rpm in road gear on the freeway.

RE: 2020 Silverado 1500 Duramax and the Ike

So an in-line six makes for a pretty good Diesel engine arrangement. Who knew? Next thing Ford will be inventing “architecture” (for an engine not a building) with pushrods :)

New Ford 7.3 V8

I see people calling this a “big block” engine. Is it part of a series of engines of different displacements based on a common “big” block?

RE: Upgrade truck suspension

Four different campers on the older truck, current camper on both trucks - the only thing that consistently improved the ride from a “fore and aft” standpoint- overhead jiggle, vibration, hobby horse, porpoising and all the other names was hitching a trailer to the receiver hitch.

RE: 2020 Silverado 1500 Duramax and the Ike

I find these very entertaining. The real question is, when are we going to see the ford 7.3 big block go up the hill with a full load? I can’t wait! X2. We have a couple of them on order at work and I’m looking forward to trying them out. I don’t see any info on Ford.ca yet. Do dealer fleet sales have info now?

RE: Elon tease -- Tesla pick will look like military vehicle

This outfit shows fake videos of their booster rockets landing themselves. Now they are talking electric vehicles with useful range? This okboomer does has a question: how is enough AC electricity going to be generated to power the world motor vehicle fleet? Just told yah folks about not embarrassing yourselves. :o Those fake videos have already done 18 supply missions for NASA.:S:B What’s next Sam? Battery powered computer phones in our pockets? Anti lock brakes? Electric pickup trucks with payload and range? :) :)

RE: Pick up for TC

Yes my Cirrus 820 is pretty close to 3000lbs ready to roll. This week I'm looking at quiet radiant heated 20c inside on a -19c morning, no frost on the windas, and about 5 - 6lbs propane per day. I hope not to reach it's cold capability limit before I can motor south :)

RE: Upgrade truck suspension

Bilstein has a recommended model for high center of gravity loaded pickups. They work good on my old Dodge. Can’t remember the number but it isn’t the “popular” one. Struts from the overhead to the cab cowl work very well. Lance options those. Hitching a trailer to a 2 or 3 foot hitch extension pretty much stops it on both my trucks. 06 Dodge quad cab diesel 4wd 3500 or 12 F350 crew cab gasohol 4wd.

RE: Pick up for TC

Hi intravino - nice looking truck. A local guy here put 950,000 km on one of those trucks distributing newspapers to small communities. At $7000 it has to run for what, 8 months and owes you nothin’ vs renting a new one from the bank. An inspection could be $ well spent. Look at Truck Camper Magazine on line for information on campers you have in mind. They have info back 10yrs maybe? Motorcycle trailers / fishin boats etc go nice behind truck camper rigs.

Its not a dually so it won’t work. The army fills battle tanks with helium to haul them on those wimpy single wheeler transporters. 1 wheel = grocery getter. rv dot net fact.

RE: I could live with an Atlis type truck

So working toward a workaday world electric light duty truck in normal configurations (payload, bed size) is damnphool thinking? I could live with a Rivian. Can it haul my 3000lbs camper?

RE: I could live with an Atlis type truck

Atlis trucks look interesting. Be kinda fun be done with $3 to $5 per 10 miles for fuel, 8 mpg range anxiety, lazy grade braking, oil changes, brake jobs, broken engines, having to argue about synthetic oil, rank exhaust fumes on a winter morning, etc no brakes??? How does it stop? EV’s have dynamic braking. Foundation brakes will be used much less in normal driving? Kinda like a locomotive except the regen energy is stored in the batteries not dispersed as heat.
