Have you looked at the Capri Lone Star yet? https://capricamper.com/models/lone-star/

Not in the years your looking at but Northern Lite made a taller ceiling in 2011 in some of their TC's. https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/news/heads-up-northern-lite-raises-the-roof/

RE: carfax for truck campers

Not a tow behind trailer with tires that requires registration, different beast which I like not having to pay every year for the privilege to camp.

RE: Rv loan rates!

With loan terms on RVs going out to 20 years people see the low monthly payment and sign the papers. Most don't care about the % as long as it meets the monthly payment they can "afford".

RE: Method HD wheels on beach

Not sure on exacts but the HD's with bead grip allows you to go lower and still carry 4500 lbs. I go down to 20psi on my stock rims on the front, will only go down to 22psi on the rears. BTW, are you getting bigger tires, I am interested in putting bigger tires on my rig so the differential isn't smacking stuff in the sand and so I can float better.

RE: How to keep a TC from being stolen when not on the truck?

https://www.torklift.com/blog/entry/how-to-protect-a-camper-from-theft The body of that article has nothing to do with the title. :h I guess you didn't read far enough. When it comes to camper theft, the position of the FastGun Wobble Stopper prevents another vehicle from backing up and loading your camper. Keyed alike locks are provided to prevent a camper from being stolen. With complaint of camper movement and worry of camper theft, Robert and Amy Taft installed the FastGun Wobble Stoppers on their camper.

RE: How to keep a TC from being stolen when not on the truck?

I will lower it down so it is more stable, that and a truck can't get under it. I have powered jacks. If someone wants it bad enough they can still break in and power up the jacks from inside if they find the remote and know what they are doing. If you are worried about that happening I would put a tracking device in the camper or an airtag at a minimum.

RE: Frame Stiffing to reduce Porpoising?

As already mentioned, the biggest thing for me fixing the front to back rocking was installing Rancho 9000's on front and back, I keep the front set to 5 and the back set to 9 with the camper on. I have a local concrete highway that would kill me before I put them on, the spacing of the dips was just right that would would have you feeling like you were in the ocean.

RE: Help - jacks are draining my batteries

Sounds like a converter issue, generator outputs AC, when running the converter should convert to 12v for charging batteries, I can have almost dead batteries and as long as I get the generator started I can use my jacks without issue and I have a heavy camper. I would put a voltmeter on your batteries and see what they are doing with the genny on and operating the jacks.

RE: Aluminum vs Steel flatbed

I couldn't believe my eyes with the one rig, guy had a Dynamax isata 5 out on the beach, said he was aired down to the 40's. Our sand is not hard packed like some beaches and he was floating good on it, like I said it really surprised me this past year seeing rigs with 19.5's out on the beach aired down.

RE: Aluminum vs Steel flatbed

do you know that 19.5s aren't very good for the beach? This is not true, I have run into many guys running 19.5 aired down on the beach with big rigs, and this is in sugar sand not hard sand, so it CAN be done, I couldn't believe it till I saw it.

RE: Broken Frame on a RAM 3500

I'm thinking this guy just read this and other threads on the interweb. TC for sale Big difference between an 1130 and that huge eagle cap, that setup is fine all day long on a dually. Doubt that guy is selling due to reading about this issue.

RE: Camping off the truck

I can for a fact say don't use the yellow jack pads, the jacks slide on the plastic. Never had an issue with 2x12's cut at 1ft length under each jack.

RE: Shadow Cruiser Truck Campers

I had a 95 M-11, they are decent campers. I had to redo the roof on mine due to the previous owner letting it leak, but once I replaced that it was good to go. I grew tired of always hitting my head on the ceiling getting out of the bed and traded it in for a bigger/taller Lance.

RE: Slide when mounted to truck

the question is - can I open the slide while camper is on the truck with all the torklifts connecting the camper to my truck. If you are level and nothing is blocking the slide from opening then yes, you want to be level so the gears for the slide don't work harder than they already have to. I always make sure to set my emergency brake as well when parked, just my OCD self. You will figure out if you want all the jacks down or just the back jacks or no jacks your first night, depends on how stable you want the camper while in it, only takes a few minutes to deploy them to just touch enough to take a bit of weight. Also make sure you lock your truck and have your keys with you and have a backup plan for if something happens while in the camper, know your exits. This world is a crazy place and you need to prepare for such things.

RE: Slide when mounted to truck

I put my rear jacks down just to level things out for the slide and it helps with the rocking. Most people keep it on the truck while camping, one of the reasons a TC is great for people on the move. Way to much work to take it off and put it back on for overnight camping, maybe if you were camping at the same spot for a week and you needed the truck for other things.

RE: Ordering F-350 7.3 CCLB SRW - how big of camper can I get?

If you want, I could have my wife call yours and have her relate the story of what happened when our rear tire blew out on our SRW with the camper on the back. Either A. she will want the DRW or B. she will not want a TC.

You gotta admit though, while driving that dually (you dont say which) you felt like you could haul just about anything.....
