RE: Lubricant for tow bar arms

I used Tri-Flow for my tow bar arms and still use it any time something is going into my hitch receiver to make sure it releases easily. It is my go to spray lubricant.

RE: Washer issue driving me nuts

Did you clean the door gasket so it’s drain holes operate as they are supposed to?

RE: Washer issue driving me nuts

The reason you need to leave the washer door open/ mop water from door sill/ spray bleach is because you need to press in and peel back the wide door gasket dead center at the bottom of the door sill and clean the drain holes in it. Ours clogs with dog hair and we clean it regularly. The gasket is attached on one side just for this purpose.

RE: ARE THERE ANY SNOWBIRDS ANYMORE?

Started getting the Sprinter organized for our annual 6 weeks on the Florida gulf. Being from Massachusetts I don’t need to practice poor driving skills, they just come naturally.

RE: Password

Interesting sidebar… a pair of twins we see every winter in Florida flew in from Canada last year landing an hour apart. When the second one went through customs she was pulled aside because the facial recognition system determined she was already in the US. It took a while but she figured out the issue, texted her sister to come meet her at customs, and they got it sorted out.

RE: Directv ??? what are they doing???

Dunno, maybe they're giving out freebies trying to keep from losing customers.Makes sense. At home they gave me the NFL Ticket for the season, a movie every couple of months, and a premium movie channel once a year for 3 months.

RE: You tube Fulltimers getting squeezed

That’s just my point, RVIA isn’t tied to the VIN and that’s why you can register a school bus conversion and the states and insurance companies have no concern because the bus chassis is already certified. So LYAO all you want, but in reality nobody is going to stop a schoolie from getting registered or insured. Trying to find someone who wants to let you park it on their property is a different story.

RE: You tube Fulltimers getting squeezed

Who here ever had to provide RVIA information to register or insure their RV? Not me.
Dave
Me neither. They don’t ask when I register my car / truck / SUV’s either even though they’re legally required to be certified as being built to the FMVSS.
Why? Because they know that Ford / GM / Chrysler /XYZ Auto company build only units built to code and certified as such.
The same as they know every Winnebago (or your favourite flavour of commercial RV) is also built to standards and certified as such.Well you can believe that it you want to, that’s fine. But they wouldn’t ask for FMVSS or RVIA, or anything else because they would run the VIN, and guess what, it would come back as certified by whoever self-certifies school bus chassis. Same as mine comes back certified by whoever certifies Sprinter chassis… and it ain’t Winnebago.

RE: You tube Fulltimers getting squeezed

Who here ever had to provide RVIA information to register or insure their RV? Not me. Massachusetts did ask if I had a kitchen and when I said yes they required me to have a CAMPER license plate. My insurance company simply asked me if I had an RV. I'm not sure why they cared, I never really looked to see how much different the coverage was from my cars since it costs almost the same.
BTW, the Nebraska link provided specifically relates to "Any deal or manufacturer" and says nothing about private conversions.
That said, the biggest problem for schoolie conversions will be parks age-restricting vehicles. Heck, there are parks that won't even let in a Class B.

RE: Goodnight Irene, the party's over.

1980’s… I was building a house. Construction loan @ 21%. Final loan @17%. The payment fit my income so it worked for me. It’s all relative (to something, not sure what :D ).

From all of the complaints on this forum about crowded campsites and no places to park, I thought you’d all be popping the champagne cork. I would have expected the subject of this thread to be Wake up Irene, the party’s starting.

RE: Internet RV Prices Today

When I was shopping in 2018 I compared dealer prices all over the Internet then drove 100 miles to a dealer that had exactly what I wanted in stock. There was a price on the windshield less than what I saw in my research and I asked if that was their out the door price. The response… “No I think that’s not right” and they dropped it another $5K for 35% off. By comparing prices from all over I had a close idea what I should actually pay before going to a dealer.

RE: traction tracks

I ranger on 18 miles of beach and sand trails in the summer and we have visitors get stuck every day. We have winches on our trucks but keeping them working reliably when they are exposed to salt air 16 hours a day is problematic. We started carrying plastic traction boards and extra shovels and teach our visitors how to get themselves free. The boards work great.
To keep them from breaking under the weight you might want to check out the kind that roll up. They are sections of plastic blocks connected by nylon straps. Easy to store and don’t take up a lot of space.

RE: renting out your RV? Success stories? Issues?

I would assume almost all people who rent from Tiuro have a pretty good amount of knowledge how to operate a car. I also am pretty much sure most of those renters do not plan on cooking, eating, sleeping, entertaining , bathing and pooping in that car.
Comparing Renting a car vs renting an RV is roughly the same as comparing renting an RV to renting a house or apartment. They have a few things n common, but many more things that are completely different.
Well you missed the point entirely, but that’s okay.

RE: renting out your RV? Success stories? Issues?

We get a lot of Turo car rentals where I live/work and most all of them started renting their personal vehicle and it worked so well they bought additional ones and made a business out of it. I haven’t checked the RV rental sites, but if you check the Turo web site it is an interesting business model.

RE: a plea for more cool weather sites for migratory travelers

Thanks for the info on Loves. Good to know.
We have the same problem our first two nights heading south. Our heat is a Truma Combo and we prefer to use it in electric-only because our propane tank is on the small size and the temps are generally in the low 20’s when we leave. We seem to find more KOA’s open in the winter.

RE: Covered Storage of RV In Driveway

Any reason you don’t just get something like an Aqua Shed truck camper cover and call it a day? Before I built a barn for my Class B I used these on a Class A and a DP. Much easier and legal in setbacks
