RE: Tire Blowout damage to underbelly

I covered mine with aluminum diamond plate. You are lucky you did not need to repair any wires or pipes. This is basically what I did too. I didn't use the checker plate but, used galvanized sheet metal. Either way if you do both sides full length in the wheel wells you will not have this worry again. Took me about 4 hours to measure, cut for a tight fit, repair insulation and screw in the galvanized sheeting. If you do a search on here I did a post with pictures of how I fixed mine a couple years ago.

RE: Cooking on a Discada

What happens with the holes? In the disk? :):) Some have a square hole and just require a piece of flat stock be welded in to fill the hole. Round hole, some washers work to fill the hole. Dave is right on the money. Weld up and grind smooth.

RE: Cooking on a Discada

I had a friend that made one from an old disc blade. It worked great.

RE: Fifth-Wheel Movie night

Gotta love Longmire. Never watched it or knew about when it was on but, I watch every episode now.

RE: Torn Wiper Seals

Usually there is a screw thru the metal track and the rubber seal. When you remove the screw the seal just pulls out. Silicone the new one and track and it will slide back in the track easily. Sometimes there is a screw on both ends

RE: https://presnells.com/

We're not there now but friends are with a class A and they said things are good. We were on St. George Island for 2 weeks a little over a month ago after coming down 98 from Topsail and all roads were good. We were also on 30a that runs in front of Presnell's outside of Port St. Joe and all was good with a little road work near Indian Pass. We like that area of the Forgotten Coastline. Grocery shopping in Port St. Joe and in Apalachicola and several good places to eat from PSJ thru Eastpoint.

RE: Gooseneck or 5th wheel

I use both. I have a short 18' 5th wheel that I use for hunting and fishing. It has the gooseneck adapter that I built. I tow it with my old 2001 gas truck with a shorter quad cab and I can see it easily for hookup. The 5th only weighs 3600# so it is light and the frame is stiff. Our good 5th is a 34' ( used when the wife is along) and we use it with the 5th wheel. I tow it with our 2005 Dodge diesel and the quad cab on it is longer so hooking up a gooseneck is more difficult as you can't see the ball without raising way up out of the seat. Hooking up the 5th is easy as you can see everything you are doing seating comfortable in the seat.

RE: Advice on Campgrounds

The last time we stayed at Yogi Bear Jellystone in Memphis was the last time for us. It was in January and they were listed as a Passport America park. When I went in to register I presented our PA card and was told they no longer accepted it (but still showed they were on line). I asked for a seniors discount and they said they didn't do that. I asked if there was an off season price and the answer was no. I think we paid $65 and there were maybe 5 other campers and mud and mud puddles where we parked. Also, the drinking water was awful. We have found better places to night stop on the way to Florida in the winter.

RE: Grand Design Reflection

We have a Reflection 303rls 5th wheel and we bought it used so we have never had to deal with GD. We are very happy with ours and it heats and cools much better than our previous Keystone Outback. I think there are less air leaks than the Keystone is why it heats easier. Anyway we couldn't be happier.

RE: Any problems with Goodyear Endurance tires?

We've had ours 2 years and they have been flawless. At first I didn't care for the tread design and lack of deep tread but, they haven't shown any wear and track great.

RE: Electric Fire Places

We use ours all the time when it is cold out. Works great and heats the 5th great. Unless it is below 30f at night our furnace doesn't get used. If the electric fireplace isn't enough (which it usually is) we supplement with and other electric heater. We love ours and all very happy to have one.

RE: Land Between the Lakes

We stayed at Piney first and Hillman ferry next. We liked Piney the best. Nice clean and lots of room right on the lake. Hillman had old and tired bath houses. It was also up off the lake. This was a couple years ago so things may have changed.

RE: Cheap fix for muddy sites

Sounds to me like the OP isn't peeling the just laying them down in the entry. Then picking them up later and washing them off.

RE: Looking for a propane setup for seafood boil cooking

Just did a shrimp boil this afternoon for the second time in a week down here in Florida. I have a fish cooker I picked up off Craigslist for $25 and an boil pot from a thrift shop that was either new or like new for $10. It has a lift out strainer which is really nice. I use Zatarans or Louisiana seasonings shrimp and crab boil. The fish cooker works really well too with a 12" cast iron skillet for blackened fish. Both for the fish and shrimp it is soooo nice to keep all that smell outside. PS, I also use this pot/ strainer setup for making Homemade Tamales. It works so good for this I bought a second because I make pretty big batches of Tamales. MMMM

RE: campgrounds in destin or pensacola fl

this late in the game finding a place will be difficult although 1 night stays can be found and moving for a second night a possibility. The even harder part will be finding one for $30.

RE: campgrounds in destin or pensacola fl

We were at Topsail at Santa Rosa Beach last week. Our 2nd time there and really enjoyed it. We have stayed in Destin at Henderson state park and it is great. You didn't say if you were looking for a state park or privately owned park. Right now we are just around the coast at St, George Island for 2 weeks at the state park and are very happy here. It does not have sewer though so we have to go and dump in the middle of our stay. Pensacola Has Ft. Pickens not too far away.

RE: Were older travel trailers built better?

I have an old Coachman 1987 5th wheel (18') that I use for hunting that is still going strong. The last 5th we had before our newer GD was a Keystone 2004 and it was getting tried with quite a few problems popping up. I think some at least were made better.

RE: Toilet choices, plastic vs. porcelain.

We have a GD Reflection 303rls and it has the porcelain stool. All our 5th wheels and trailers had plastic before. My wife and I were talking just yesterday how much better we like the porcelain.

RE: Attention Grand Design Owners...

We have a 2016 303rls 5th wheel and could not be happier. It has been a wonderful unit with very little flaws. Would definitely buy another GD product.

Campground on 78 between Memphis and Tupelo

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good campground between Memphis, Tn. and Tupelo, Ms. that is open this time of year? On our way to Florida and looking for a good one night stop.
