RE: New Super Duty on order

Late to the party. Have a 2021 F250 7.3 with 22k on the odometer, mostly towing. It's been a trouble free truck since I bought it new in 2020. My only complaint is tow mode in the mountains. Touch the brakes and LOOK OUT. Easily mitigated by towing in manual mode while in the hills which I much prefer anyway. I also lockout 9th and tenth on the highway for shift free towing at 2100 RPMS. Yes I would buy this exact truck again.

RE: Anything other than silicone..

I've only kept 1 trailer long enough to require a re-caulk and used Lexell, the cats meow.

RE: Tire age?

Been towing for over 30 years and never had a single flat. I check the time pressure before each trip and inflate to max psi. And of course a quality tire like the Endurance. Stay safe

RE: Does travel trailer furnace have a filter?

No filters. It's the reason I gotta clean my sail switch periodically because I got dogs that shed. ??

RE: Smaller tanks

If handling ease is your goal then by all means switch to 20#. The wife and I travel quite a bit in our trailer and could easily get by with smaller tanks. We seldom boondock and almost always heat our trailer with a ceramic heater. Your furnace will be the determining factor as it's BY FAR the biggest user of Propane. Enjoy your adventures.

RE: Cover for camper while in storage? Yes/no?

Well I've not had the good fortunes with covers. Took it off in the spring and my God.....the mildew was absolutely horrendous. Wife and I scrubbed the entire interior for hours. Probably should have used a weed eater. Ever since we've left uncovered. I do however rub the trailer down with UV protectant every 2 months.

RE: Slide leakage

Yes, it's OSB-press board, it sweels with water intrusion. If you can live with it, no issues regarding health.

RE: Travel Trailer Purchase

They are both used. The Shadow is a personal sale from a couple who got divorced and just wants to get rid of it. The Aspen is at a dealer and was traded in. If the decision was purely about functionality I think I'd take the Aspen but I worry that I may not like camping or may just be too busy to use it and want to be sure if that happens I will get most of my money back when/if I sell. I'm not in the market for anything right now because prices for any luxury item, vehicle, etc are outrageous. We are in the process of a correction right now with high interest rates and high costs of goods. If you want to insure you can get your money back, save your money now and wait unit the bottom falls out then pick something up that someone bought and can't afford the payments, storage cost, doesn't like camping 3' from their neighbor, etc. If your not sure you will like using a camper, try renting first to see if you like it. Spending almost $30K on a trial, you are sure to lose money in the end. Good advice ^

RE: Wheel Bearings

These threads pop up from time to time and always amazed by the responses. On our 4th trailer and have yet to replace a wheel bearing using EZ-lube. Simply Jack one wheel at a time and spin the tire while injecting grease. Things to worry about.....proper tire PSI and roof maintenance.
