RE: gulf shores to spring hill, FL - US 98

Just past Apalachicola at East Point head across the bridge to St. George Island and camp there. The CG is on the sound side in the woods but take your toad over to the beach. Spectacular! https://www.floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/dr-julian-g-bruce-st-george-island-state-park Farther along, just across Ochlockonee Bay near Panacea is a nice CG, Holiday CG. It's on Ochlockonee Bay (no beach but a nice view) and take the toad down Mashes Sands Road at the flashing light to Mashes Sands Beach. It's a real beach but there's no surf. http://holidaycampground.com/photo-gallery/ The Big Bend from Alligator Point around to perhaps Clearwater is so low-energy that beaches simply don't happen. At the Newport Bridge go down to the St. Marks Lighthouse. There's a parking area big enough for you and it's a nice drive across the marsh. No facilities, no camping. Supplies are up US-319 in Crawfordville and in Perry.

RE: 20 year old hoses

Go ahead an change the radiator hoses, they should be about $50 each. For the heater hoses going up front, if you get into a jam you should have two shutoff valves at the engine. As for the hydraulic hoses running up front, that's a big job to replace but you should have them carefully inspected to be sure they're not rubbing on frame edges etc. Also, if you haven't already done so, change the belts. I sprung a leak in my 26-year-old top radiator hose last year and had it changed out at a CG in Montgomery. $45 for the hose and $200 for the service call and a couple of jugs of coolant. It would have been so much easier and cheaper to just do it in advance. If you have an Oshkosh/Freightliner chassis, call Freightliner and give them the last four digits of your VIN and they can sell you the parts of give you the part numbers.

RE: gulf shores to spring hill, FL - US 98

I'd never want to slog through all that traffic. I'd take I-10 from US-90Alt west of Pensacola to just past the Marianna exit, then take SR-71 south to connect with US-98 at Port St. Joe. You'll be right along the coast from just west of Apalachicola to St. Teresa, then you'll be swinging inland and stay inland the rest of the way. US-98 from Medart to Perry and US-19 south can be rather boring but the road is good with little traffic. You'll see a pine tree or 10 billion. Traffic will thicken up from Crystal River southwards but then you're most of the way to Spring Hill.

RE: RV Lot Insurance Ideas

Try Foremost. You'll need fulltimers insurance and they can probably add the building. I had a deck and shed added to my Foremost policy.

RE: Augusta, Ga. to Pensacola cross country suggestions.

US-221 to Valdosta, then down to I-10 or US-90.

RE: Heading to Florida

Sounds good. You might be able to get in at Cypress CG at Winter Haven https://www.cypresscampground.com/ for a month or more. Decent area, next door to Walmart, all other services nearby and warm in winter.

RE: Heading to Florida

Why would you go to Clermont if your intent is to head west? Or have you changed your mind on that?

RE: Heading to Florida

PC may be difficult due to displaced people and construction workers. Since you plan to head west go on to Pensacola, Gulf Shores/Foley and west of Mobile.

RE: Fry cooking electric device and watts?

You need all the power to maintain temp when frying. I use this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C0E1QZ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

RE: Pickle on My Entry Door Grab Handle

I have quite literally seen "The Pickle." It was in north Georgia and was a GMC MH converted to be a food truck and due to it's offensive color it was known as "The Pickle." Since I started hollerin when I saw it it had obviously had been on TV. Maybe those late night channels, I dunno.

RE: Fix for Error: Topics per page to 20 Posts per page to 10

That worked for me. I had 40 and 10 and the change to 20 and 10 fixed it.

RE: Error Messages

It's too bad to see this forum slide into oblivion. It was very useful for years and I learned a lot. Unfortunately the sysops, if there are any, have been instructed to simply ignore it until it dies. There is no excuse; it's a conscious decision to kill it.
