RE: Jacksonville, FL to Hiawassee, GA Route Ideas

Your flattest straightest route is I-575/GA-515 out of Marietta, GA. IF you want to stay east of Atlanta, US-441 to Clayton, then US-76 west to Hiawassee. Do not take US-19/129.

RE: Camping in cold temps, bad idea?

Hi all, thank you very much for all suggestions, very helpful as usual. It looks like I should also be watching the weather prior to the Thanksgiving camping trip since my camper is stored in my unprotected driveway near Boston, usually we can get a few days below freezing in Nov, who knows what the weather will look like, I need to be prepared for the worst. All tanks are empty on storage except the water heater, should I still hook my camper to house power and have the furnace running during below freezing nights?. I'd drain the WH & blow the lines. Heat works if you just dip below freezing. But you could see a real cold snap up there. In Georgia it's what I do, but here in Nov thats COLD.

RE: Camping in cold temps, bad idea?

27F at night to 45F during the day. No problem, just fill the tank and run the pump. Use a small heater to take some of the load of the furnace, during the day. But you still want it to run some as the temps drop at night. Take some RV antifreeze with you and winterize before you leave.

RE: How much do you really need?

How far are you planning to travel, and what kind of drive do you want? I've been under trucked, under powered, about right and more than I need. I sure like more than I need. Your choice.

RE: 1-75 Overnight between Chattanooga and Atlanta.

THere is a Cabelas in there somewhere that I have stayed at . Freecamping website says Cabelas is closed. Cabelas @ exit 354 is closed, Cabelas @ exit 277 Kennesaw, is not closed

RE: Chattanooga

Kind of depends on what you want. For the RV Park type setting Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, is good. Chester Frost Park and Harrison Bay State Park are across the Chickamuga lake from each other. Chester Frost has more lake front sites but sites are close and open. Harrison Bay will have a more woodsy feel. Last there is Cloudland Canyon State Park about an hour south of Chattanooga on Lookout Mountain.

RE: No 12 V juice--battery or converter?

But be aware that there are likely still a few things (like the propane detector) that draw electricity even with the disconnect switch "OFF". So for long term storage, disconnect the negative battery cable.

RE: 2007 Cedar Creek Silverback slide out issue

A tape measure will tell you if your slide jumped time.

East Bank COE, Chattahoochee. W/E only, dump etc. Yea but, East Bank Campground is just across the state line in Georgia.

Thanks for the link to that site! Tennessee has a LOT of COE campgrounds, usually multiples on every TVA reservoir. I would not be surprised if it had the most of any state. TVA lakes are not USACE lakes, and TVA's campgrounds aren't really in the same class. Plus TVA has leased out or closed many of the ones they did have.

RE: 2019+ RAM HD with failed CP4-2 IP to get CP3's

Has anyone heard of issues with the new pump GM is using in the Duramax? Have not heard of issues with the new Denso pump. But there are reports they are having issues with the Denso injectors. So far I love my L5P, but tomorrow is a new day and anything can happen.

RE: 2nd AC Wiring

Look at this thread from July 20011. I think this will do what you want

RE: Transmission Fluid Change 2013 Chevy Duramax Allison

Allison Transmission Look and see if you have a local Allison dealer. I have one local and their filters have been much cheaper than anywhere else.

RE: best route to santa rosa rv resort from I-65

I like AL 41 into Brewton AL. US-31 may be a few miles shorter. But has more traffic. Also exit 77 lets you use the rest area before you get of I-65.

RE: Fall Creek Falls to Gatlinburg

Out the south entrance to TN-111 south. Down the mountain to US-127 north. Just before Crossville TN take a right on TN-392 (Miller Ave) north to I-40 east. I wouldn't want to take a trailer out the north side of the park to TN-30. But if I did TN-101 (Lantana Rd) to TN-392, would be my choice.

RE: Need tire and wheel help

Get the 16" rims and a good LT tire. Don't look back. I did this to our last trailer, at 9k only ran 70 psi in the 235/85/R16 BFG's

RE: Just about dropped it!

It's all about routine no matter what you are doing! Because I usually have pressure against the trailer. I always pin it open, so I always have to move the pin back. Back under, remove pin, swing handle shut and reinstall pin.

RE: Overnight stop near Atlanta

Altoona Landing! IIRC we stayed there once on the way back north and would never stay again. We got there late and left early but the staff seemed nice and the campgrounds were also nice. The problem was the train that ran about every hour all night blowing it's whistle every time. Jim. X2! We stayed once. We were so close to the tracks the ground shook.
