RE: Pine/Spruce drip season??

Sap is really bad at cuts where limbs or branches have been cut. Alcohol does a pretty good job of removal

RE: Blower Fan on Dutch Star

That is the switch to turn on to get heat into the “basement” in the winter. Don’t know about a fan or if it just opens a vent. The heat is from the furnace. They (some,)called it a winter switch and Newmar discontinued that method of getting heat in basement that way about that year or shortly after.

RE: Blue Ox Tow bar for Jeep Wrangler JK

I have a 10,000 pound blue ox tow bar. It’s the third one I’ve had in about 20 years. Have always had a bar with that rating simply because I’d rather be over than under. Safer than sorry, etc. besides not that much difference in cost. I tow a 4 door Jeep Wrangler now and previously towed a pick up truck that weighed something under 6,000 pounds.

RE: Would this be crazy??

Sometimes I think owning a motor home is crazy, but I love it and will keep on “keeping on” with it. If that’s what you would like to do, just do it. One never knows for sure what the future holds. If you don’t do it you may one day regret not doing it. You only live once.

RE: Main power extension cord now a must for me

I carry a 25 foot 50 amp extension cord. It used to be 30 feet cord with a 50 amp plug until I drug it about 15 miles down an interstate highway. A little shorter but turned it into an extension.

RE: Residential refrigerators

I’m thinking I am ok with the modified inverter. Have a 2000 watt inverter, four good house batteries that charge on shore power or the engine and operating the refer over last 3 or 4 days it works great. Refer is an 18 cf counter top depth by GE. GE engineering section says they do not test their refers on any inverter, “ however having said that” recommend pure sign rather than modified. Knowing the difference, I think that is the only answer they can or will give. Am aware of the advantages of pure sine over modified, starting load etc, etc, got it all covered. Just do not know how refer might perform over the long run. Knocking at 80 years old not even sure what the long run is, but I’m still RVing and plan to keep on .

Residential refrigerators

Installing a residential refer in my coach replacing the non working Norcold. I believe new RV’s with residential refrigerators are operating with pure sine wave inverters. My existing inverter is a modified sine wave. It works fine on the existing, but can I expect longer range problems with the old inverter, or should I “bite the bullet” and spring for a pure sine wave inverter ?

RE: Getting couch out of 5th wheel?

I dismantled or unassembled ours and once out of coach I re-assembled it and sold it.

RE: For Standard Gear, What's your ladder of choice?

I have a six foot Fiberglas Werner step ladder. Store it in a bay under a home made shelf that is just high enough to slide the ladder under. Store other things on top of the shelf which is maybe 5 inches off the floor. That and a short extension I can easily reach the top of the windsheald

RE: How to get to Lompoc Gate at Vendenberg AFB

Unless something has changed and you have a motor home you will be required to exit the coach and open all the bun doors while they inspect the coach.

RE: Replace RV Refrigerator with Residental Model

We have an icemaker and water with the current unit, but not used. Lowes sounds like a winner. What is the model nr of the unit you got? Thanks. GMGrey Mountain. told you (and everyone else)wrong. The refer is a GE 18.6 CF counter depth French door with ice maker. Model number GEW19JGLBB. Fits in a 33 inch space.

RE: Replace RV Refrigerator with Residental Model

Having a whirlpool installed as I post this. It is 18 CF French doors with freezer on the bottom. Basically fits into existing space except have to lower floor one inch to get it in. Have to trim out about a half inch of space on either side of refer. It is a counter top depth with water dispenser inside refer and Ice maker in bottom freezer. Got it a Lowe’s hardware. Really did not care for water and freezer but that’s the way it came. Got black doors to match micro and stove. Should be finished by this next weekend. Anxious to try it out on a trip. Refer cost about $1700 and don’t know the installation cost. Work is being done by my favorite independent RV tech.

RE: new satellite hook up?

Just got Dish. Have a hopper in house, have a Wally in one bedroom. It’s programmed to work in the house with a seperate hook up to satellite. Have a second Wally in motor home. Tech programmed it to work with original coach dome satellite antenna. Told me might not get every channel with Orem dome but probably get 90%. I could take Wally from house and put in motor home, but would have to change programming every time I switched it. I just bought the second Wally and activate it when we leave the house. The hopper works totally independent from the Wally. I got all from an independent satellite retailer who sell and installed nothing DTV and Dish. He installed everything. Never called I-800

RE: Replacement Trailer Hitch? - 2002 Newmar Dutch Star DP

Our 2007 KSDP and a friends 2008 DSDP both had recalls on the hitch in 2008. NEWMAR replaced both with a 10,000 lb curt hitch. If yours happens to be the same it would probably bolt right on

RE: Help finding nightly parking for our caravan

I think I would try to plan the trip and determine where I would like to stay. Then I would call the local police dept and ask if there was a suitable location to park the caravan.

RE: Which Sat Antenna & Receiver to Get...

Another vote for Dish. I just changed from DTV to Dish. When we leave in the motor home I can just call Dish and have receiver in house shut off and receiver in motor home turned on.. no additional cost.
