RE: Built in vs. Stand-alone GPS?

I like the stand alone unit (we use Garmin) because I can take it to my recliner , recline and plan the trip..

RE: The best Wranglers for towing?

Assuming you can tow a Jeep, go to a dealer and check them out. If you will ever want to have more than the driver and one passenger, the answer is easy. Don’t ever expect an adult to climb into the back seat. So get a four door..

RE: Time to hang up the keys...(consignment ?)

I’m in about the same position. A year away from 80 and wondering how long I can or will want to keep traveling in it. Bought mine new. Talked to owner of the dealer where purchased and ask if they would buy back when I’m finished. He said he would try to talk me into consignment as that would get me “ more money” but would buy it if that’s what I really wanted. I’m thinking when I am ready to “get out” I want out and will take just about whatever offer I can get the fastest to get out. Don’t want to mess around with it.

RE: Evolving Canines, de-evoloving people?

Why would anyone even want to take their dog to one of those California cities. I don’t ever expect to visit one again and I guarantee I wouldn’t take my dog to one of them.

RE: Knee Pain

I take the glucosamine. Started taking it about about 30 years ago when my “good” knee started hurting. It quit hurting and I’ve taken it ever since but I have no idea if that’s why the pain stopped.

RE: used Ventana, good, bad, ugly?

if Taken care of you will be hard put to find a better motor home than any Newmar product. And yes it is/ was their entry level coach , but it may also have many options that some of higher line coaches have. Depends on hoe it was originally ordered and built.

RE: Truck bed liner on roof

I read an article where an individual put the bed liner material on the roof and over the radius of the side down to the awning rail. It was to go on the area where the clear coat had deteriorated. He bought a kit with truck bed liner material, the material was made specifically to roll on and came in a variety of colors to closely match the color of the coach. The kit included thinner, and rollers to use. It included literally everything needed to apply it along with instructions not to use any other.. it specified two coats , the second applied shortly after the first.. the picture he included looked pretty good. He did it because his coach was about ten years old, he didn’t want to spend the money to have it done professionally. Looked like a great idea to me. My coach has had the clear coat redone and it needs to be done again. I don’t have the info on the supplier as I write this but am very tempted to try it.

RE: Furnace Cycles

I always thought that not to be normal, but mine does the same.. Dealer tech says normal. Had a friend with different brand of coach. His did same. Not sure what is right but mine has been working that way for 11 years. I just don’t worry about it anymore.

RE: RV lots in Phoenix area??

There is a nice “park” near casa grande AZ.and Arizona city. Lots of park models and quite a few RV lots. All or most privately owned. Not sure the name , but maybe “sun sites”. It was East if I-10 and north of pica hope. Very nice place.

RE: Jeep towed discharged when towing. This is new.

I’ve towed 3 different jeeps and a Chevy 1500 truck for a total of 23 years. Have always used the standard old brake buddy and have never run down the towed vehicle engine battery. Always made sure I had. Good battery, unplugged the brake buddy at nite when stopped traveling. And made sure the brake buddy would hold the air pressure unless activated.. totally uncomplicated.

RE: Power of a lightning strike

Was responsible for air field maintenance and repair some years ago. Lightening strikes on the airfield in Florida were very common . During the season we had a repair crew on duty to repair the airfield concrete lightening strike damage.

RE: Roof vent screen removal

If it doesn’t have screws holding it in I think it was called pop in screen or something like that. If so it is supposed to pop in and pop out. They are pretty had to pop in and out.

RE: Jeep towed discharged when towing. This is new.

Fire up is right on. Ive been there and never want a charge wire or any other function that is not required. Simplest way of doing things works best for my simple mind.

RE: Jeep towed discharged when towing. This is new.

I think you do not have to and should not leave the key in the ignition. I have a 2017 wrangler and the book in the car says to do same as you said. . Reading the fine print that comes with Jeep says the complete user manual is on line. The “real” on line manual is different. There is no steering wheel lock so the ignition is left off and the key is removed. I raised he double lwith Jeep over this when I first purchased it butThey did nothing and did not care. This is the third Jeep I have towed and every one was different. Not sure if yours is like my wrangler but it’s worth checking. On edit I have never had a charge line to any of the jeeps I’ve towed and have left the Jeep connected for as long as 4 days when traveling, I use the brake buddy as well and I have never had the Jeep battery run down

RE: inquisitive

Mine always come out if my Jeep is disconnected. Concern is they could be taken and they stick out and make a great leg buster.. the blue ox tow bar is locked into the receiver and it never comes off.

RE: Pine/Spruce drip season??

Sap is really bad at cuts where limbs or branches have been cut. Alcohol does a pretty good job of removal

RE: Blower Fan on Dutch Star

That is the switch to turn on to get heat into the “basement” in the winter. Don’t know about a fan or if it just opens a vent. The heat is from the furnace. They (some,)called it a winter switch and Newmar discontinued that method of getting heat in basement that way about that year or shortly after.

RE: Blue Ox Tow bar for Jeep Wrangler JK

I have a 10,000 pound blue ox tow bar. It’s the third one I’ve had in about 20 years. Have always had a bar with that rating simply because I’d rather be over than under. Safer than sorry, etc. besides not that much difference in cost. I tow a 4 door Jeep Wrangler now and previously towed a pick up truck that weighed something under 6,000 pounds.

RE: Would this be crazy??

Sometimes I think owning a motor home is crazy, but I love it and will keep on “keeping on” with it. If that’s what you would like to do, just do it. One never knows for sure what the future holds. If you don’t do it you may one day regret not doing it. You only live once.
