RE: Florida State Parks reservation question

Just as I finished reading these posts and closed out, my email alerted me of a new email. Yup from Rec.Gov. Reservations cancelled. " We're sending you this message because of your Recreation.gov reservation, at FORT PICKENS CAMPGROUND for Sun, May 10, 2020 - Wed, May 13, 2020. A location closure has been issued for FORT PICKENS CAMPGROUND from Wed, Apr 29, 2020 - Tue, May 12, 2020 due to Public Safety Concerns . Since this location closure overlaps with the dates for your trip, we have cancelled your reservation and you will receive a full refund. Credit / debit card payments will be refunded to the card associated with your account. If you paid by cash or check, you will receive a refund check in the mail (please allow up to 8 weeks)." So that is the official answer. Thanks all.

RE: Florida State Parks reservation question

At the risk of hijacking this thread, does any one know how this applies to fort pickens campground through rec.gov? I've been trying to check daily as I have reservations for May 10-13 and would really like to know if they'll be open or not, as we planned to leave a week or so before that for a leisurely trip to the park.

RE: "Service temporarily out "

I switched to using Trailer Life and even that's a bit doggy at times.

Spring Mill State Park, Indiana

Any one familiar with Spring Mill State Park? If & when this virus passes and things open up we plan to pick up our new RV in Elkhart and bring it back home to St. Louis, MO. We are thinking of a day or two stop over at this park and wonder what thoughts on it are. Did look at campground reviews and was not overly impressed with what I read. But do want a night or two in between. Open for thoughts. thanks

RE: Georgia camping

I recently read that the Gov opened all Georgia beaches. I don't get that at all.

RE: What's Opened?

For what it's worth, I heard on TV News this morning the Georgia Beaches are open. Not sure if they said still open, but thought they said reopened.

RE: Cruel Summer

If people are cancelling reservations even into the summer, and things open up, do you think those cancelled reservations will be gobbled up and the parks will be just as hard to get into? Or will the parks still be barren as people error on the side of caution?

How come?

How come when we go on a two or three week trip the time flies by. Seems like in no time it's over and time to head home. But when I'm stuck at home for a week, it seems like months? I guess the biggest pain is cancelling long awaited reservations for Fort Pickens, FL.

RE: Good day today!

At least one good thing has come out of these troubled times. The media has been so obsessed with current conditions, projections, warnings, etc there has been no room for political commercials. Just gotta look at the positive side.

Crowe, stay on top of that A1c thing. I know it can be hard and even depressing at times, but you gotta gut it out. Trust me I know. And yes it is the little things that count.

RE: Well, They gone and done it

Well at least some attention has been deviated from toilet paper......we are now entering into the haircut pandemic. I think there's a conspiracy going on. No barber shops - shoulder length hair! Pot is becoming more legalized! Don't know yet how they'll bring back bell bottoms. But looks to me we're headed for the 60's again.

I painted an old rocking chair we have, just so I could watch the paint dry.

RV GPS

How many of you have/use a GPS for RVs? We currently have a Garmin Drive Smart 61, which is a basic auto GPS, but we're thinking of upgrading to one designed for RVs to add such features like tunnel/bridge height, various length issues, etc. Particularly the height issue. What's available that won't cost and arm & leg?

RE: Can You Pass Through States with Stay at Home Orders?

magic, today the announced that the check points are also set up at the Florida/Alabama line. Trying to dissuade Louisiana people, since NO is another epicenter.

RE: Spearfish, SD

Horsedoc, Is this the park you were referring to? If not which one? For a campground right next to Little Big Horn National Monument, I stayed at 7th Ranch RV Park Pleasant owners, very clean, quiet park with full hookups and good sized spaces. I was going to ask about this place. You said it was nice. We only plan to spend one night there. Which do you fell is better: see the Monument park then check in or spend the night and see the Monument the next day? We only have a couple hour drive that day. thanks all

RE: The perfect RV campground

Trees, trees and more trees. Don't need open spaces for my satellite dish. I came out to camp (& see trees) not watch TV. But that's just me.

RE: Spearfish, SD

Expanding our search for campgrounds to Montana. Thinking about seeing the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument and would like to camp near by. But need electric. About the only thing I can find is Tongue River State Park, Montana. Not the cloest, but has power. Any thoughts on this park or any other near the monument? Also in Wyoming, we want to see the Devil's Tower, but the only campground I can find near there is a KOA and really don't want to refinance the coach to spend a night. WOW! Any other campgrounds around there, with electric, worth staying? Boy the pioneer life in the wild west is rough! Can't find many, if any parks with conveniences without selling the farm.

RE: Spearfish, SD

Bionic, we chose this park, although it's not set in stone yet, because we want to camp in Colorado and really don't want to venture to far in. We only drive 3, or 4 hours tops, a day and coming from Nebraska, this seems to be about the only park I can find that isn't too far off our path that has electric. Secondly both the DW & myself have respiratory issues and don't want to get in to too high elevations. Totally open to suggestions. We would like to spend a day or two, or more, in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana each, before heading to our rally in Spearfish for a week. thanks
