RE: The time has come to replace the cooling unit in my fridge.

I just did my Dometic cooling unit. Purchased from RV Cooling Warehouse but came with JC Refrigeration stickers on it. As others have said, you need help getting it out of and back into the hole, but otherwise a fairly easy process. I do not have any slides, so my space was tight, but got the refer to the bedroom where I could lay it on its face and complete the work. Another thing to check when you have the refer out. Insulation of the walls and any baffles to correct the airflow up and around the cooling unit when installed. One thing that RV Cooling Warehouse suggests is that the Camco refrigerator vent cover does not allow for proper air flow for a Dometic refer. I purchased a Dometic roof vent and cover and you can definitely see the difference in design. Also consider adding exterior and interior fans. Good luck with your project.

RE: Insane first RV trip plan?

I have done two 30 plus day trips in the last three years in a Class A towing a Jeep. California to Tennessee during the month of June. California to Georgia during the month of December. I use the RV Parky app and Good Sam. Although I did make prior reservations for each stop, there was no shortage of open spots at rv parks across the states we traveled through. As mentioned before, staying inside National Parks will require some pre planning. Travel day consists of 300-350 miles per day. 5-6 hours each day depending on traffic, weather, etc. Some days may be shorter or longer, depending on where your next stop may be. I also try to get fuel at the end of each day to limit stops along the way or combine potty, food, fuel in one stop. Most parks can be seen in one full day but will of course depend on what you want to see and do. Also, don’t forget to add some days in for grocery shopping, etc. We find that we need fresh vegetables about every 3-4 days. Another thing to consider is Harvest Host. A fair amount of options to stay at Wineries, Farms, Breweries, etc. all for a yearly membership. Also check into the National Park Pass. One fee $80, gets you into any National Park. Crater Lake for example, costs $30 to get in. Good luck and have fun. It will be a great trip.

RE: Pet Boarding when visiting Disneyland

I did a quick google search and found several 4 star or better kennel/ daycares in the area. Most open at 7 am and close at 5,6 or 7. If you need more than 8 to 12 hours at Disneyland then consider an overnight stay for your pet. I just completed a 34 day trip from California to Georgia and back. My preferred kennel charges $75 per day. That’s why we decided to take the rv and dog vs. flying and make a real trip out of it. Do the math. Pets aren’t cheap. I feel for you and hope it all works out.

RE: Slide Out Freezer/Refrigerator

Nice! I was curious about venting on hot days? I haven’t been in hot weather yet, but I am thinking about some vents on the upper edge of the compartment closest to the rear tires. It’s a protected area by the wheel well liner but should allow warm air to exit. This same compartment also houses the converter/charger so some air may be good. Or I can vent it towards the holding tank area. Haven’t decided yet.

Slide Out Freezer/Refrigerator

Always wanted / needed additional freezer space for longer roadtrips so this is how I solved the problem. After careful measurements, I found that the Alpicool C40 Portable Refrigerator 12 Volt Car Freezer 42 Quart(40 Liter) would be the best fit. Can be used with 120 or 12 volts. I made a slide out tray with 100 lb.Full Extension slides and installed a 12 volt receptacle in the compartment. I have used the Freezer/ Refrigerator on two trips now. One 4 day trip as a refrigerator and a 35 day trip as a freezer. It has worked flawlessly. The compartment was previously used for drink storage or misc. ****. I even made the accessory pouch that carries the 120 volt cord. https://i.imgur.com/6ZkGvnil.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0ifHvQxl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pmciy6Ql.jpg

RE: Sway bar issues

A little off topic but when you replaced your springs, did you have the front end aligned to SuperSteer specs. It made a world of difference in my P32.

Dicor Wheel Cover Parts

Since Dicor has stopped producing/distribution of their Wheel products, does anyone know of a replacement that looks the same. I found that Phoenix makes parts but they have a different look or style to them. I am looking specifically for some Wheel cover jam nuts for a Workhorse P32 chassis. 19.5 wheels. Do not know the lug size.

RE: Towed braking system problem

With my Brake Buddy, I attached a piece of 3/4 inch pvc to the handle which gives it space at the seat to clear the seat adjustment lever.

RE: Temp Reg. Question Buying from out of state in California

This may be what your looking for. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/license-plates-decals-and-placards/temporary-operating-permits/ One-Trip Permit In lieu of California registration, you can get a one trip permit (for a fee) to move a vehicle: Show Citation 11 When unladen, for one continuous trip from a place within California to a place in or outside California or from outside California to a place in California (by the most direct route). For participation as a vehicular float or display in a lawful parade or exhibition for one round trip from one place to another. The total round trip cannot exceed 100 miles and must be completed within 60 days. A one trip permit is also valid for a nonresident: To move a newly purchased trailer coach into California. Member of the armed forces to move an unregistered trailer coach they own into, out of, or within California. A one trip permit cannot be used to move a crane or trailer coach owned by a California resident. Blank one trip permits may be purchased in volume from any DMV office. Issuing a one trip permit doesn’t affect California tax requirements. For sales and use tax information, contact the Board of Equalization (BOE) at www.boe.ca.gov or 1-800-400-7115.

RE: 2013 Winnebago vista 35b flat towing jeep rubicon

Your route includes some steep mountain passes. Long upgrades and downgrades going over the Sierras and some steep areas around Yosemite. I have done all of that area numerous times over the years in my 2001 Fleetwood Flair towing a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. Without any issues. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. Sounds like a fun trip. Try to pre-plan your fuel stops if you can. Fuel costs can be high closer to the main routes or around the small towns (Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, etc.).

RE: Selling RV, urgent help needed on proper process California

A side note for any vehicle transfer in California. The license plates on your registered vehicle are yours. Take them off of the vehicle and physically surrender them to the DMV. This forces the new owner to register the vehicle in their own name and in a timely matter. Simply submitting the title transfer online does not fully remove you from liability of the vehicle. If you don’t take this step, the new owners can then operate the vehicle under your plates that are attached to your name. Toll evasion is the one issue that comes to mind but a crime committed can also wreak havoc for you. This information was told to me by an employee at the DMV. From the DMV website Does the NRL (notice of transfer and release of liability) remove my name from the vehicle record? No. Only the buyer’s application for transfer, using the endorsed title received from you, can remove your name from the vehicle record. Per dmv.ca.gov: Generally, license plates remain with the vehicle they were issued to. Certain types of plates (personalized environmental, special recognition, or special interest) can be reassigned to another vehicle upon request by the owner and payment of appropriate fees. Sure, you can remove the plates, but the buyer may not be appreciative as they will not be able to legally drive the vehicle home without those plates. If you are that concerned, then go in to the dmv with the seller and do the transfer. I was simply forwarding the information that was told to me by an actual DMV Employee when I last did a vehicle sale. Sorry for trying to be helpful.

RE: Decal replacement

The best way I found to remove the decals was with an Eraser wheel. And it removes the adhesive at the same time.
