RE: Generator compartment

Haven't heard of this before. Thanks for the heads up. I will check mine. Just a thought. Could the rubber mounts be missing from your generator? If they are not there it might cause the hard bouncing to break the frame.

RE: Front Window Leak, 2021 Coachman Freedom Express 192 RBS

Had a separation between front fiberglass cap and the front wall above the window. 02 winnebago mini. Even found a small dead bird in there. It was a big gap. In my case the wood screws that held it on (wood backing cast into the backside of the fiberglass) . I will go back with coarse thread wood screws and re caulk with Proflex. I suspect you had a similar separation.

RE: gas fridge

Doug R. -
You are right. Throw away useful items is a waste....
An old fridge like that may be better then a modern one because it might not need any power to run. (no gas solenoid to hold open with 12v)
Again - thank you for your truthful comments.

RE: Slideouts on a ClassC: How many?

Personally, I would never have an RV with any slide outs. My feeling is that they detract from the structural in integrity of a vehicle going down the road. Also I don't spend that much time inside the vehicle when camping so no need for the addtional space. Again, just my feeling.

RE: Older Ford E450 V10 chassis cold starting problem

Interesting discussion. I too have 02 Mini Winnie with the V10. I have had to replace one ign. coil which did have a CEL. I lost the Mass Air flow sensor when mice shreded the air filter and the paper bits damaged it. I think a CEL was on for that failure. But lately I have noticed a sound that I assume is pinging. Have tried premium fuel and shock the knock sensor wires under the intake manifold to identify any issues with that. But no CEL. I had fixed the bad HVAC door vac. accumulator failure and thought that would fix the pinging because of the vac. leak causing a lean condition but it didn't. Any one have pinging on their V10. Thank you

RE: Recommend Good E-450 Dash AC Repair, SoCal

Just a quick summary of my experience with this. I went the route of bypassing the vac. accumulator and check valve with Ford OEM parts. Plenty of space to mount the new accumulator. and easy to replumb with new good vac hose. Not really mickey mouse at all. Just a bypass scheme well hidden by the dash panel.

RE: Question for Toyota Tacoma owners

I have a 1st generation Taco . 2004 V6 5 speed. Once towed a car on dual axle Uhaul car trailer. It was terrible and dangerous. Don't know what you are towing but I don't think a small sport truck like a Taco is NOT good for heavy loads.

RE: 1997 Winnebago Electric Stairs - No Power

Howdy,
I believe the steps are powered in when the ignition is switched on. Regardless of the on/off switch position. May be an issue there.

RE: Purchasing a Jackery or something similar....need help....

Side BAR: Using electricity to heat water (as in coffee maker) makes no sense to me. You can save power by using your gas stove to percolate / press.....

RE: Stealth Camping Tennessee

Yea, I really got a lot of good ideas from reading George's blog. He had sections on cooking, budgets, lots of technical stuff about RV's and also some life philosophy. He taught me about the real weakness in the corners of rv construction due to the moldings not being wide enough. He also had tragedy when he lost his son. I even wanted to meet up with him when he was in CA and I was going to be out there for business but it never happened. He always replied to my emails even when he got popular and many folks emailed with him. His last project of converting a rental truck to an rv was really interesting and he was doing a great job of it and using very high quality appliences. Just reminds me we all have limited time on this earth and we should make the best of it.

RE: Stealth Camping Tennessee

I too am a friend of Tioga George. I miss his blog. I had been following him since the beginning when he was in remission from cancer. He really knew a lot about campers and camping....Too bad about the laws not allowing camping in public spaces. Not surprised with the way the world is going. That new thing where you join a service that connects you to private folks that will allow you to dry camp on their land/driveway may be a good thing.

Alternative to 4wd

Howdy, has any one installed a rear locker on their differential? I have a 02 Ford E350 with V10 and would like to install an electric locker to help free the vehicle when stuck in mud, wet grass, snow....... I have found that being such a heavy vehicle is no help in some situations. 4wd conversion I.E. Quigly.. is too expensive and would not be necessary. From driving a pick up with rear locker, I think that is the answer for me. Any product recommendations?
Thank you
