RE: Weak headlights

First check the voltage at the headlight terminals. It is probably less than what's at the battery. Most vehicles use a too small wire that goes through the headlight switch down to the lights which results in a lower voltage at the lights due to the amp draw from the lights. The best option is to add a relay so the wires from the headlight switch go to the relay that you mount near the lights. Then run a larger gauge wire to that relay then to the light. That will give you a higher voltage and more amps at the light which will give more light. If that isn't enough then you could change the lights to better ones and will still have higher voltage at the lights. Do a search for this upgrade.

RE: How is the automatic step suppoed to work

There is probably a switch somewhere, maybe near the door?, that allows the step to work 2 different ways. With ignition off it will open when door is first opened and stay open. Or it will open/close when the door is opened and closed each time. Look for that switch and try it in the other position.

RE: Any experience with a gas fire pit?

I bought this firepit and am very impressed with the quality, all stainless steel, even the pipe is stainless. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-Portable-Propane-Fire-Pit-Bowl-16-Hexagon-Made-in-USA/324253037885?epid=16023788138&hash=item4b7efcb53d:g:j3EAAOSw~29bs5By

RE: Cold weather options for LifePO4 batteries

Look on ebay for snowmobile hand grip warmers. I have a friend who added these to his Battle Born batteries. They are powered by the batteries themselves, he added an on/off switch, and a thermostat so they only turn on at the low temperatures he wants.

RE: Tips for people with back pain

I've been taking CBD drops sublingually since February and haven't needed any pain pills or even advil, etc. since then. Might work for you.

RE: Fuel and CG discounts

For diesel look at TSD Logistics. Their best discounts are at some of the larger truckstops. If you join Escapees then you can join Days End directory and get a list of free or very inexpensive overnight stops. Harvest Host is also good for free 1 night stopovers. Passport America is also good for discounted sites. These are all ones we use frequently.

RE: Experiences/Recommendations for ReadyBrute Elite System?

I've been towing a Chevy Silverado 4x4 with a Rzr in the back for about 5 years now using a RB Elite. Weight is about 7000#. Braking system works well, easy to hook up and simple. Only had 1 issue where the brake cable broke, simple to replace it. One update I did was to add a turnbuckle to the brake cable to make it easier to adjust.

RE: RV Batteries - Lithium as Option

Buy a SOC (state of charge) meter, Victron BMV 7** series work nicely, the BMV 712 has bluetooth. Then you can tell just how many amphours you use overnight and in 24 hours. Then you will know how many amphours of batteries you actually need. Once you know that then you'll know how many watts of solar you'll need to replace what you use.

RE: Vertical Binocular Diplopia

I had the same as OP a few years ago from wearing contacts and having severe dry eyes. My eye doc figured out that the muscles controlling the eyes were inflamed and prescribed an anti-inflammatory drop. Went away after a week or so of drops. Never had it again.

RE: Pet Peeves long road trip

I typically drive 62 on interstates and am 36' towing a fullsize truck. The problem with pulling over to let someone merge is that by the time they're ahead of me and I can pull back into the right lane the faster traffic is zooming around the right side of me, flipping me off for going slow in the left lane, and I'm stuck there. So I seldom will pull over to let someone merge. It's their job to SAFELY merge into traffic. That means to adjust their speed so they can safely merge into the traffic flow. Quite a few times I've had mergers get PO'ed at me because they couldn't see the vehicle on the side of me blocking me from moving over.

RE: Painfully slow internet

Currently parked in the mountains between Gunnison and Montrose, CO. Our ATT phones have 0 bars, we can drive 1/2 mile to kinda make a phone call. But we have a Pepwave Max BR1 cell router with a Poyntang MIMO antenna mounted on a 1'x2' ground plane (this is very important) on the roof and are getting 1-4 bars depending on the wind :). We can get email and have slow internet but it does work. A booster would probably give us a bit better signal but probably not any faster speeds. This is on an ATT unlimited plan.
