RE: Leather Sofa Or Fabric Sofa?

We prefer leather but have fabric in our rv. It has to be cleaned a couple times a year as we travel and everything seems to get so dusty when traveling. Just check your window sills after a few hundred miles and you will see it.

RE: Oregon State Parks to add surcharge

New Mexico won't even let out of state people stay in the state parks right now. Different rules everywhere.

RE: Norcold Power board noise

I would call the place you got it from and ask if it should buzz. None of our replacement boards make any noise.

RE: Tow Truck Policy Update from Good Sam

As someone who previously worked in insurance I can tell you that nearly EVERY tow coverage or policy issued states to the "nearest" place of repair. If you want it towed further, you usually pay the additional charge yourself. You may want to check Coachnet, but be aware there is 1 program for towables, another for motorhomes. Do not purchase the wrong one.

RE: New Ownership

I also agree with the slow down. We usually travel 200 or less miles per day on days we travel and often pull into a park for an overnight, like it and end up extending our stay. We stay away from x-ways most of the time and choose to travel of US and state highways. We don't mind the little towns and find interesting things. We also stay away from large cities and toll roads. Other than perhaps out east, there is always a route alternative and not being in all that traffic makes for a lot easier travel, less stress and better moods. Get to your destination in time to set up and have a nice dinner and relax.

RE: BEST RV CLUBS AND GROUPS TO JOIN WHEN RETIRING

Passport America is the one we ended up with after 10 years. For a quick overnight, there are many PA parks at $30.00 and under. Also rvparky.com has been very helpful in finding parks in different areas where there are few parks, or no discount parks for the area. City and county parks are often a good deal. We also love staying at Corp of Engineer parks with our federal pass. Beautiful campgrounds, sites and half off with the pass.

RE: Used RV Financing

I also say contact a credit union. If you don't belong to one, now may be the time to join. They did our used motorhome with no problem.

RE: App or site to plan route

We just use google maps.

RE: Pay showers?

We don't use campground bathrooms/showers except occasionally when we are staying longer with no sewer hookup. Have not run into that as we are usually at a COE campground and they don't charge.

RE: Snowbirding - What is typical monthly rent by region?

You can find rates from $250 to $1,000 in any of the regions. Depends on where you want to be , how popular the area is and how exclusive the park is.

RE: Another Mile, Another Day

We also do 200 or less if we can, but prefer 150 or less. Our shortest move was 35 miles away. We are full-time and not in a hurry. Also travel US and state highways.

RE: Walmart overnight and running the generator

We only stay at Walmarts in smaller towns and only when the weather does not require A/C. The smaller town ones are usually less busy and quieter. Our generator is built-in, but in the bedroom area. It's quiet, but I'd still have trouble sleeping.

RE: Fridge won't cool below 50F on 120V

What are the outside temps where you are? Are you sitting so the sun is shining on the frig side of your rv ? Are your cooling fans for the frig vent still operational? We have had this a few times, but one of the above was the cause. Once corrected the frig again cooled as it should.

RE: mattress pad recommendations

We also put a memory foam topper on the rv mattress and it's very comfortable. Quality memory foam will be dense and heavy. Our queen size 3 or 4" " thick was 25# or so.

RE: Should I connect my sewer line when camping?

Connect and leave your valves closed until you are ready to dump it. Of course, this also depends on how long you are staying. Me -- I shower every day. We don't let the grey run as we want to use it when it's time to do the black and rinse the hose with it. In between a full dump if the grey gets full, all it takes is pulling a handle and pushing it back in when done.

RE: THANK YOU

#1flyboy - it is so much more enjoyable, NOT to be the camp host. We also quit after 6 or 7 seasons of it. It is unbelievable ! And Concessionaire, that lasted about a month and we left that one. Good luck to you - enjoy life now !

RE: Wheel Covers

Our wheel covers are like heavy soft vinyl ( don't know what it is) and has layer of woven padding on the inside. Ours happen to be off-white and are pretty heavy duty. We have had them about 8 yrs, but don't remember where we bought them. Maybe online. My understanding is that they block UV rays and also ****** some of the heat that would otherwise build up on the black rubber tire. They are not hot to the touch even when sitting in full sun if you touch them, and neither are the tires underneath.

RE: Neighbors Wouldn’t Help

There are usually county commissions on aging that have volunteers who will driver seniors to and from doctor appointments. The volunteers are paid mileage from the county funds for this program. They also have volunteer companions who can visit once per week and take you to get your hair done, go to the bank, grocery store, or just sit and play a board game, read you a book etc. My understanding is that these are federally funded programs so should be available in every state.

RE: 100 days till snowbirding........ maybe not

We are full-time, so will be heading south. We will make reservations, pay online or by phone for our site and have our site # when we drive in. No contact necessary. Heading for a small town that has had 238 cases in the county. We don't have to be within 6' of anyone and practice safety when pumping gas or grocery shopping. Life will be about the same as it is here in MI for the summer. The only things that would change where we go is winter weather predictions, or states closing their borders, but we have to go somewhere warmer. Not spending winter in MI where we are for the summer.

RE: VIN Location on 2000 Damon Intruder, F53

You could also check the inside of driver/passenger doors if you have them. The standard place would be if you look from the outside thru the windshield, there should be a metal plate with the VIN # embedded into the dash. Hard to see from the inside - only readable from the outside looking in. This would be on the drivers side in the corner.
