RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

This thread feels done to me. Move along.

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

Also Old Biscuit, when going to his profile it says"member could not be found" Did he pizz off the wrong person and get banned again or was taken out by mistake like last time? He quit the forum and asked to have his account removed about a year ago.

RE: Temp Reg. Question Buying from out of state in California

Here is my solution. I did not know that in California plates stay with the vehicle and once you sign the title you absolve the old owner of all responsibility. I will use the plates on the current Class B RV and drive it home. I will insure it before I leave. My reluctance and concern was that the owner would remove the plates after the sale to return to DMV as that is how we do it here in NJ. I didn't want to drive across the country without plates. I know in NJ They would pull me over and impound the vehicle immediately. That's correct. Hopefully the seller's tags are up to date. There's a portion of the CA title that you sign and leave with the seller. They can go straight to the CA DMV website and record the sale with all of your info to protect their liability. And you'll have the signed title that protects your ownership. Have the owner email you a photo of the title in advance so you can have a look first. Make sure there isn't a lienholder and make sure there aren't any other complications. For example, a CA title can list the husband OR the wife, but then your state might require both of their signatures, so make sure both of them sign and date it. Other than that, your plate with the current tags plus your signed title and proof of insurance are all you need to get across the country. (Make sure you deal with the insurance before you hit the road.)

RE: Best route

Denver to Cheyenne to Gillette is a good drive. Very pretty and nothing crazy. Lots of good places to eat in Cheyenne too.

RE: Can trailer tires be patched?

@bucky, how many plugged tires you had self destruct in a short time, or ever? Put me down for a "zero", boss. My plugs have all held.

RE: Traveling with Propane on

Thank you everyone for the information. Yes, forgot our fridge was Automatic. But I believe I have to turn propane on and light stove to make sure propane is flowing to fridge? How do I know if fridge ignited on propane? TY You should hear it flow and then a slight "whoosh" when it ignites. Also, your fridge should show an alarm if it doesn't ignite within a few seconds. If I don't hear the fridge ignite right away, then I turn on a stove burner and then retry.

RE: Traveling with Propane on

Where are the thousands of posts/reports of fires at gas stations from leaving fridge on while refuelling? Does anyone even know somebody this has happened to? Not an issue. Those reports don't get much airtime because they're overshadowed by all the reports of pumps exploding from people using cell phones. Oops. That didn't happen either.

RE: Traveling with Propane on

My routine: When I take the trailer to the storage yard after a trip, I turn off the fridge and open the fridge/freezer doors for defunkification. I also check the bottom of both sides of the freezer because I'm taller than my wife and she's the one who usually empties it. I only found food in there once, but once was enough. When I pick the trailer up for the next trip, I close the funkless doors and turn on the fridge so it can begin cooling ASAP. It should be cool enough in an hour or so to start filling it with food. I try to add the ice bags at the very last minute because I want the freezer as cold as possible before I add the ice. My fridge stays lit through the entire trip unless I have to remove the LP tanks to go refill them. I don't run with scissors, but I walk pretty quickly. It's a risk/benefit analysis thing.

RE: Everybody must get stoned, rock on...

I remember this project when you posted your pics from Phase I. This looks good. My wife is also a rock rustler and has done a lot in our yard with rocks from our favorite spots. Looks like you bagged your limit.

RE: Credit Cards For Fuel Discounts

Gee dude I was just trying to help. I'm with you my friend. I guess ol' chuckbear NEVER buys groceries ANYWHERE, so any grocery-related suggestions are unwelcome here! Geez. Ask about gas discounts/gas cards and the whole grocery thing is going to become a part of it. Guys - We all have our buttons. You never know what's going to trigger someone. Wanna see me step in front of a bus? Start a thread about "hot water heaters". No such thing.

:S And a sticky, no less. Maybe a mod will consolidate, move all this to that thread. There's no move/consolidate on this forum. I've just been letting this one run because these are such unprecedented times. Let folks blow off some steam.

RE: Small piece of gasket coming loose on frameless window

I lost one of those "frameless" windows in the bedroom of my fiver once. (And yes, they have a frame, but you just don't see it from the outside.) We were driving through Wyoming and the wind took it. You couldn't even tell that there had ever been a window there. Nothing else was damaged and the receipts and papers on my nightstand on the other side of the window were still there undisturbed. I called the parts company for my manufacturer (they don't sell their own parts) and they shipped me out a whole new assembly. It was a pretty simple fix to remove the existing frame (especially since there wasn't a window attached to it anymore). There was a seal around the outside of the frame, but it wasn't remarkable enough for me to recall how thick it was. I don't think you're going to be able to get to it very easily though. See if you can get your manufacturer to put you in touch with their replacement parts vendor so they can tell you the brand for the window. Hopefully you can get your hands on their docs and/or photos of the uninstalled frame to give you a better idea of the parts that you can't see while it's installed.

RE: Credit Cards For Fuel Discounts

I give up. I guess I'm done here. This is a perfect example why I don't post here anymore. I should have known better. Chuck Hey Chuck - I deleted the posts from the Kroger fighters. I left Grit's posts up because I think he's trying to support you in his own adorable way. Don't let the fools get you down. On the other hand, I think you already squeezed all the juice out of this thread anyway. * AmEx * Brand loyalty cards * And the "other" cards, like the Publix & Sam's Club if you need a dozen eggs and a frozen pizza to go with your fuel I think those are all the pearls of wisdom this topic has to offer. Happy camping, Dave

RE: Recommendation for New or Used Bumper Pull Toy Hauler

Do you have your heart set on a bumper pull? The reason I ask is that bumper pull toyhaulers can be a pain to pull sometimes, more so than a fifth wheel. Getting the tongue weight right on a toyhauler seems to an issue. This is JMO of course, not based on actual usage, I could be dead wrong. As a sample of one person here, my 30' bumper pull was a lot of work to drive, but my 45' fiver is a joy to pull. It's slow and dumb, but it's as chill as a St. Bernard. To the OP's question though... Hey Red Robin - Nobody likes people who answer questions with questions, but what kind of toys will you be loading? Your load is important to the equation like fj12ryder mentioned. Also, a lot of units have those small slides in the living areas. They're OK if you're just loading a bike or two, but they get in the way of an SxS and they add a lot of weight.

RE: Credit Cards For Fuel Discounts

I've had decent success with the branded loyalty cards. Shell card at Shell, Flying J at Flying J, etc. It's a lot to keep straight though. AmEx is also good about kicking back a percentage for fuel and groceries. I think it's 4% for gas and 6% at groceries (at least it's been 6% at Publix & Kroger/Ralphs), which has been pretty nice.

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

I get tired of the politics, seems like some folks (both on the left and right) will take every possible opportunity, to interject their world view, no matter how of topic it is, complete with name calling. And act like they are authorities on ever subject. If someone says "in my opinion" that is one thing. But when they act like they are superior to the rest of us mere mortals that is hard to take Just My opinion!!! Hit that "Notify" button when the politics bother you. The mods may not agree with you that it's political, but it does absolutely no harm and points out things that we miss sometimes. I've worked with the rest of the mods for 17 years or so and I believe we're all very good about calling balls & strikes where the politics are concerned. We may not see eye to eye on certain issues, but I think we get it right where politics are concerned. My barometer for this is that we all kind of naturally take pokes at whoever is in office (which I personally agree with and think it's a vital part of our democracy). This means that I'm constantly deleting posts that bash our president and to a lesser degree our congress. This makes it look like I'm supporting the guy in office, which usually isn't the case. But if we have a blue guy in office and I delete the posts bashing him, then I'm a dumb lib. And if we have a red guy in office and I delete the posts against him, then I'm a fascist pig. I'm wrong either way, which kind of tells me I'm not that wrong. Anyway, hit that Notify button if a post gets under your skin and I'll see what I can do.

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

And no obligation to the people who in good faith paid for, and gave their money, for a spot that you can then give to someone else? This idea would make me feel like a common thief. This must be designed for those that routinely show up without a reservation. I am done here as since in all these years of camping I have NEVER experienced this situation. Everyone be safe and have fun. I think "good faith" doesn't always apply to this. I think a significant percentage of the vacancies are from people trying to game the system.
