RE: Where in Western MI with 3 tweens/teens

Ok, hmm. What about sleeping bear dunes? Another vote for Sleeping Bear area. We just spent four nights there a few weeks ago. It's a gorgeous area and it's close to other destinations that were already mentioned here for day trips (Petosky, Fishtown, etc.). There's a great bike trail from Empire that goes north past the dunes. It's a gorgeous ride. You can rent bikes up there if you don't bring your own.

RE: Rear Deck Patio - Aftermarket rails

I have always thought of these as special need or useless. I watch the one with the side porch this allows you to do the Grey Poupon thing with you neighbor in most rv parks. As for the one on the back you can watch you neighbors TV if you wish. I've always worked to be out of the TT as that is why we RV. If I wanted to be couped up I would've stayed home! Soon to go for a campfire and dogs & beer........ camping. On the west coast we have some campgrounds where the rear of the trailer hangs over the beach. Beach front property! Watching the sunsets are aweesome. So much for the sand between your toes eh? Most of the beach campsites don't actually open up to the beach. Our beach camps are always up on a bluff overlooking the beaches. The party patio is a great way to open up the garage and fill the room with sea air and watch the sun set. I've set up my laptop out there and put in plenty of uninterrupted billable hours on the veranda. It sure beats an office.

RE: Push to privatize National Park Service campgrounds

I had to delete some posts for words like "geezers". Let's please keep this thread civil so I don't need to close it.Didn't know that word needed to be added to Richard Pryor's list. Now you do.

RE: Push to privatize National Park Service campgrounds

I temporarily closed the thread. One of the primary trolls is gone from the forum and I'm reopening it again.

RE: Texas to Washington State

The 101 is definitely prettier than I-5. Going up I-5, you would need to cross the Grapevine, which is a tough tow. If you take the 101, you'll have a big grade after you get out of L.A. before you get to Canejo and another one after San Luis Obispo (the Cuesta Grade). There's also a small grade between those two in Gaviota. Don't let your nav send you over the San Marcos Pass. You'll hate it and everyone on the road will hate you. It only shaves 20 minutes off the drive for a passenger car--not worth it. You can avoid the Canejo pass if you're coming in on the 10 by taking 210 > 118 > 23 > 101. This avoids a lot of city traffic too.

RE: Push to privatize National Park Service campgrounds

So far this looks OK. Please keep it civil and nonpartisan.

RE: Rear Deck Patio - Aftermarket rails

Don't skimp on the support cables. Earlier this summer a friend of mine was standing on his ramp holding his grandbaby and the motorcycle tie-down straps he was using broke. He and the baby rolled down the ramp, but he held on and protected the kid all the way down. Could have been a disaster. These ramps are a huge lever and put crazy stress on the supports.

RE: Boycott “No Campfires”

Our local schools and surrounding highways are closed today because of wild fires. Lots of friends have been evacuated and the first homes began to burn down this morning. I don't have a problem with legitimate burn bans. https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/72353930_10217821837836615_3881003697878073344_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&_nc_oc=AQlW7js3puch4ZI2iYFq16UWF7EzA6-WuW-2UzKr_grlSNW-imV-8AXwtNqlMsAT7eE&_nc_ht=scontent-lax3-2.xx&oh=328c67a936f5cb0793d5f431b5dd2f6e&oe=5E36F49B width=450

RE: UPDATED: Arizona (not Nevada) roads question

Different strokes. We like the drive on I-40 from Barstow to Albuquerque.

RE: Traveling in Oregon

We just finished a trip through a lot of states where weed is legal (plus Canada), and many of the parks had signs at the front desk that said more or less the same thing: We know marijuana is legal here, but please don't smoke it outside. This isn't too different from the "dry" camps that don't allow alcohol. As far as camps go in Oregon, it's not Sodom and Gomorrah. You should be fine.

RE: Must cross Yosemite NP to Convict Lake?

Call ahead if you're going to stay in Bishop. We just wrapped up an eight-week trip and Bishop was the only place where the parks were completely booked.

Did you mean to title the thread "Nevada roads question"? Did you mean Arizona?

RE: Stopping at flying j, Cracker Barrel etc

Lol. Y’all are ridiculous on this campground thing. It has nothing to do with paying for a campground. It’s about logistics of getting on and off the road quickly with 10 kids in the van including a 3 month old and 16 month old baby. I would willing to donate the 35$ to a local campground and not even stay there. Go take you arguments somewhere else. It’s not about the money. Since there have been so many jerk responses admonishing him to get a CG and calling him cheap, I'm closing the thread. The OP seems happy with the Cracker Barrel solution, so let's let it rest. NCMODELA, if you'd like me to reopen this, please send me a PM and I'll be happy to oblige. Tomorrow is the final day of an 8 week trip for us and I apologize for not keeping this thread in line better. As a father, I'm impressed by the size of your family and I appreciate your efforts to keep things running smoothly for your family and yourself. Ironically, a meal at CB for your family of 12 will cost more than a night at a campground. Apologies again for all the unkind and off-topic responses.

Please post your outcome. I think it was low flow. I disconnected the lines and reconnected. It runs fine now.
