RE: LEDs Replacement for Flourscent

I took the ballasts out and put in 4 strips per 12" fixture. We now have plenty of light and a lot less power usage. Very simple route to success.

Best route suggestion NE of Phoenix

I've done 87 to 260 to 277 and up to Holbrook from Phoenix and it is a good easy trip. This time I'm in San Tan Valley and am considering US 60 to 77 to Holbrook. We are going back to MI in a 35'DP with toad. Is this as easy as the other route or are their better suggestions. We will be doing this in mid April of this year. Not in a hurry but don't want many extremely slow areas.

RE: traveling during US Thanksgiving

We plan to leave MI and go south to Fla on Monday. Staying off I*95 or i-75 avoiding large cities during their rush hours. Should not be a problem if we are smart. Weather might be a bigger problem this year.

RE: Lake Superior Circle Tour

We did the loop in 2008 with travel time of 17 days in August, no bugs. Only had one day of rain but saw 54 waterfalls. Looped from the Soo clockwize around the lake. If you PM me I can send the spreadsheet of sites we saw and stayed at. Great trip.

RE: Snowbirds?

Just checked my favorite areas and these are also not working Class A Motorhomes General RVing Issues Rallies, Shows, .... Snow Birds Tech Issues. It is not worth coming back here if none of these are working. The next best website is or one of the Yahoo or Facebook groups. Sad as this used to be a good resource.

RE: Privacy Awning Pros, Cons

As mentioned it will keep some of the sun off the mat area under the awning. It can also stop some of the breeze you might get. All depends on the direction the wind comes and which way you are parked. Usually the view is not totally blocked but is at least filtered. They are not usually used for short term parking.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Was thinking about this thread just the other day and realizing I hadn't seen anything new. I haven't done it yet, but I'm considering a motion-activated light near the door for when we forget to leave our porch light on. It may have to be one that we remove when we are on the road. Does anyone have a good idea for this? We installed a battery operated motion light From Amazon while still in Florida and it has stayed on for the trip to MI and a thousand miles since. One was installed just above the keyhole and the other in the stepwell of the DP. It only comes on when you get close and does not stay on long. Just enough to get things unlocked.

RE: Fuel economy

Average 5000 miles per year at 65 or below. 8.5-9mpg while using Flying J on the truck side, DP. With the toad I can't always get out on the car side but get another 3% back with my AARP Visa so it is another $75 back per year. Don't worry about economy but watch the Silverleaf and see what it is tracking on mileage. We stop every couple hundred miles for the dog and I. Fill up at or before half since we are stopping anyway.

RE: Slides - Monaco & Holiday Ramblers Owners

Had minimal damage on the flush floor and installed the Guardian Plates last summer. Went easy once you get over the fear of doing it. Popping the rivets is the hardest item. Don't wait as the rot can move quickly.

RE: Standby Sams

As a Standby Sam I was always ready to help anyone who might call. Never worried about the .1% of the people who would call and not be decent. Sorry the program was recently ended but it is what it is. Now I don't need to e ready to help when you have a problem.

If you want to be near Mobile AL then in Theodore a very good park is "All About Relaxing". Great hosts and owners. Much to do in the area on the island and the battleship visits. All About Relaxing
