RE: Shark bites for plumbing

I haven't tried them in an RV but I have used them a couple times in home plumbing. They often leak in my experience. I only use them in an emergency or as a last resort. If at all possible I use the "real" connector appropriate for the pipe. Last time I used on I was trying to save time. I had to install it 3 times and it still leaked so I finally just sweated on a crimp fitting to connect the copper and pex. I should have just done that to begin with. It would have saved time and aggravation. Then you have no Ideal how to use them correctly. maybe not the right tool or sizing them right but if done right they don't leak.....

RE: Cost to install apparatus for Flat-towing

While I mean no disrespect to anyone who has previously posted, I am not buying any used equipment from anyone for any reason to tow a car. What if it goes bad and the car gets loose and kills someone? Yep, saved $1000 but I am now broke due to all the lawsuits. At least if everything is new and installed by professionals I have some legal cushion to fall back on. I will also sleep really, really well every night knowing that what is installed on my coach is the best quality and done the way the company specs require. I just want to throw this out I been using my system 15 year never a problem If I sold it at 8 years what would be the problem? Just saying buy a name brand and you do know you also have safety chains to car and a braking system if it ever came loose. You base plate your would be really lucky if you found a used one so most likely a new one. Mine after bolted it was also welded on. So buying use doesn't mean not safe and I am just explaining it to you not trying to be mean.

RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

The owner's manual and Ford Motor Company are the final word here. If you're not following their recommendations, you're wrong. It's just that simple. Well it appears that some where around 2016 to 2018 the manual now says 7 quarts, did ford make the oil pan larger or is it the same and they recognize their error. I can not find a dipstick issue with the 2007 F53 model V-10 online, only the older V10's. I think the error is in my manual.. My 2007 V10 3 valve per cylinder owners book says 6 qts that's what I been doing.

See here, he is a member in irv2. Replaced my rears in 06, just finished doing the fronts. polyurethane bushings That's exactly the set I bought and installed. Excellent quality and fast shipping... yes my 2006 Georgetown triple slide F53 Class A I install 3 years ago worked great also.

RE: Interesting video

I think the point is the V10 been around and been a proven engine for years the new V 8 has some time to be be proven and see what fuel MPG the V 8 sure hasn't been great in that either. The test also maybe not true gears in rear end may not be the same. The only way take the engine v8 put in place of the v10 then test in same body clock it.

RE: engine longevity?

Look most motor homes are not on the roads during the weather you are talking about. First not good in snow not good stopping, Most people who take out a mortgage payment take care or the second home. My 20 year old class C was in great shape I needed a A class with my slides because my family grew a little. Yep 2 large husky's and us need more room LOL.

RE: engine longevity?

RUST is the enemy.I agree 100%. It is very concerning if you see rusted brake lines. Another indicator is if you hit the main frame just forward of the rear tires, with a hammer, and it showers down rust, I would stop right there and kindly leave. We live near Chicago where salt is used on winter roads. Our rig is stored in our heated garage during that time. I bring it out well after the spring rains have washed the salt off the roads. It would be different if we were snow birds or winter campers. I would not let that get in the way of enjoying our rig. But we use it seasonally anyway, so it is easy to apply best practices. If we ever sell our rig, it will be a "Hot Buy" for the like-new condition it is preserved in. Ditto, we camped on the Canadian border while we snowmobiled from our 4x4 TC that lasted 12 yrs at 70k due to rust despite trying to rinse the undercarriage using an oscillating sprinkler hooked up to a hot water line. I too installed SS brake lines once I began to notice rust. I thought we were the only nuts camping in an rv in -25F temps. We just got back from our first 2020 'cabin' winter vacation where we saw some out of state people in a new class 'A', winter camping while riding, I wonder if they realize what that road salt is doing to their rig ? It's an expensive lesson and it seems we always had to make the 12 hr trip in blizzard conditions !

RE: 25’ Class C. Ford vs Chevy opinion

Depending on where you travel (lots of hills/mountains) and what you carry/haul, F350/F450 Class C with the new 7.3L gas and 10 speed will be far superior to anything else out there ! You will find with out a doubt value drops like a rock so say by to more money. Slide do count when this happens.

RE: Insurance - Increase Every Year About $100

This really depends on the state you live in I moved from CT to east Tenn got a check for 600.00 thinking they canceled my insurance. I called them they said no it was because I move to another state without a lot of claims. So if you live with money you pay a lot of money I guess my rue area next house a couple of miles down the road.

RE: 2017 Legacy Headlight

If for light are working normally they will work with low beams either your low beams are burnt out or the switch went bad. get a test light and see if you are getting power on the leads for low lights.

RE: Front suspention

Hello and welcome. Shocks do nothing for ride height. That's in he springs. If it is sitting low, the springs are probably worn out. You will need to find the ride height specs and measure from the frame to the ground. No shocks will not but being a 2001 the springs maybe be weak may need to be changed if shocks came with coach need to be changed with them.
