RE: F-250 Needs New Shoes

Check out Falken's Wildpeak AT3W. I put a set on my Ram last fall and so far they're the best tire I've ever run. They fall somewhere on the aggressive AT end of the spectrum with great snow and offroad performance, but they seem to be wearing well and have really nice road manners too. I think I paid around $1000 installed or maybe just a bit more. What he said. I’ve ran several different brand and will say the Falkens Wildpeak is the best tire I’ve ever ran. I do get a really good deal on tires because my son owns a automotive shop.

RE: Rear View Camera vs Backup Camera

Not all backup cameras are to be used as observation cameras. Some are not designed to be left on for extended times or the camera with burn out.

RE: AC Unit Efficiency

To calculate watts - multiplying the amps by the line voltage.

RE: Trouble keeping my cool!

Sounds like it may be low on freon. Check for dirty plugged condenser first if not that and compressor and fan is running its probably low on Freon.

RE: Problems with past RV Parks you've stayed at?

Loud outside TV's and Music And becoming a bigger problem. Now with just about every RV having a outside entertainment center everyone gotta turn it up so everyone else hears it. Our only camp out this year had to ask the neighbor to turn it down. They were playing some modern rock music with really foul language and that thump thump bass sound that vibrate!

RE: Questions on using a Dutch Oven

I wonder, instead of a parchment paper or foil liner, could the Reynolds cooking bags (like for turkeys) be used as a liner? A meal in a bag... Don't see why not.

RE: Questions on using a Dutch Oven

Here's a tip. Use the dutch oven liners make cleaning a breeze. I wouldn't use them for years but the DW insisted I try them. She was right especially while camping.

RE: New rv's

RE: 20 year loan for RV?

I wouldn’t even get a 20 year loan on a home that hopefully, will increase in value. So if that was the only way of owning a home I guess you would just rent and lose money that way or just live under a tree or maybe with parents supporting till you save up the money? Not everyone is born with a silver spoon!

RE: Should we be going?

Ok this is how it went. Friday loaded the rv with food stuff from the house (haven't been to the store in 3 weeks)and cloths. No need to stop for fuel-truck had a full tank that was fill over a month ago and the trip was only 50 miles one way. Pulled up by the office put window down-lady in office open her window. Told her who I was and reservation site and we went and set up at our site. Others showed up said hi but no hand shakes or hugs. Each couple ate there meals in there rv. We did sit around a camp fire each evening and took about a 5 mile hike Saturday early afternoon. Friday night got below freezing had a good frost on Saturday morning and started raining last night about 10pm on and off till 10am this morning. Packed up went and dumped (yes wore rubber gloves and washed hands good with soap afterwards. Headed home at 11am today without a stop. I would say we stayed pretty safe.

RE: Long Bed

Queen size seem to be the most common some have king but either one is 80”long. If you can find one with the option of a Cal King there 84” long but haven’t seen that option in any I’ve looked at in the past several years.

Should we be going?

We've (4 couples) have had reservation at a Oklahoma State Park for 5 months for this weekend. Everyone is still going meeting there this afternoon. Our ages range from 54 to 74. One couple saying there not afraid of catching the virus but concerned of what others think about them out and about. I don't see it's any worse than going to work or grocery shopping probably less likely of catching it. Now if it comes to a lock down that different but until then I'll camp when we can. I'm I thinking wrong?

RE: Pin Weight

GVWR is just a number!!! Get it licensed for 10k as it most likely is and head down the road. Why have a RAWR and NOT be able to load to it??? Perfect example is my 15 DRW with 9,750# RAWR. Now add that number to my UNLOADED front axle weight of 5,250#, HMMMMMMMM 15k what the HELZ??? That my thoughts also. Always thought why put a rear axle under a truck that you can carry 2,500 + pounds then limit it to 1,200lb by another number. I know on my F250 when I set 2,000lb in the bed it just squat it to where the overload just barely touch. By my scale axle weight and the axle rating I can carry 3,160lb.

RE: Pin Weight

Reading thru the minihub67 post, using Jimnlin & other posts do I have this "pin weight" thing figured out?? I have 2008 Ram 2500, 6.7 diesel. Tires are Michelin E rated 265-70-17 & say 3195#. X-2 is 6390# The door sticker says Rear 6010#. Cat scale says Steer Axle 4560# & Drive Axle 2960#. Door sticker of rear 6010# less scaled drive axle 2960# = 3050# So my max pin wt should be aprox. 3000#, is this correct? The 2960# scaled drive axle weight is full of fuel, Reese hitch, Honda gen. & misc. Ready to hook up and go. You'll be way over on the trucks GVWR with that pin weight. I would say you GVWR is around 8,800 lb being a 3/4 ton.

RE: seal pulling out?

Replace it. Once they shrink they will never stay in place even if you did get back place. It’s not very expensive seal trim.

RE: Anyone have Keystone cougar 30RLS?

Can't say about the one you looking at. We had a 02 Cougar 5er till about 8 momths ago. We liked our old Cougar and never had any problems other than the sorry tires that came on it. So we started looking at new and since we had such good luck with the 02 and started looking at them. DW and I was not inpressed at all with the new models Cougars compared to our old one.Just did not care for the fit and finish inside. Just look cheap compared to the 02. So we shopped around looking at diffrent make and models and ended up with a 2019 Eagle HT 30.5 MLOK.Fit and finish was for sure better and just seemed better put togeather. Who know for sure only time will tell.

RE: can someone please explain this for me?

I have always pulled a conventional bumper pull style RV. I am considering a 5th wheel. My TV is a 2003 F-250 Crew cab short box with the 6.0 diesel. I was looking in the manual this morning at towing capacities. According to this my max trailer weight without a 5th wheel is 12,500 and with a 5th wheel it drops to 10,600. Why is that? Just look up and found the Ford 03 towing chart. Looks like 12,500 for conventional towing and 5th wheel 12,700 to 13,100 depending on cab and if 4X4.
