Invasive pest: I dunno, that border looks tricky...maybe we should hitch a ride in that RV.

RE: BMW vs KTM vs Triumph vs Honda Adventure motorcycle

If you haven't already poke around on Advrider in the forums. My first dual sport (seems like they called them enduros back then) was bought in the late 70's. After my Navy days I started traveling for a couple weeks on vacation and a few year later found camping to be the option. I was doing an overnight at Guadalupe Mountains CG maybe late 90's and the guy next to me had a dual sport. The light went off in my head rather than taking an expensive 4x4 up these mountain roads how about a bike? First was a lightly used Yamaha XT350 which was loads of fun but lacking in aftermarket parts. I then bought a Suzuki DR650. I liked the low end grunt that thing had but the quality of gas was getting worse and if it sat for a few weeks the carb had to be taken apart. In 2008 I bought the small Yamaha WR250 which everyone was raving about. A very nimble off road bike and much easier to pick up when it gets dropped. I was really sold on the fuel injection. I still have that bike. I looked into a V-strom (poor man's BMW) for more of a street bike but really decided I didn't need two bikes.

RE: The Trinity Site

Thanks for mentioning the Trinity site. I have wanted to go for years but never could justify a vacation around it. Not a problem now. The VLA was kinda cool a couple years ago. I camped at nearby Datil Well CG and had some internet friends from Socorro meet up for a few cold ones.

Missed by what 50-60 miles? I had planned to go there too but lost interest and pushed west.

RE: 4-Corners

Standing in KS, to my right is CO and other side of road from me is OK. Actually after I posted I thought really it's two corners and a side.

RE: Ouray, CO- Ouray RV Park and Ouray KOA-Recommendations

I only recommend to friends two KOA's and this is one of them along with the one in Arco ID. My first trip I stayed at the one along the highway that the owners had everything painted John Deere green and yellow. He seemed cool until maybe my third trip was rude to me. It caught me off guard so I never went back. I did one time in 4J?? right in town and then tried KOA. I also tried the SP but the lady at the gate said I would have to pay for a second vehicle if I wanted to ride my dual sport motorcycle in and out of park so I turned around. This was many years ago so owners may have changed.

RE: Ghost Towns

I'm trying to think of ones that haven't already been mentioned. Comet MT is one.Pony which I hit last year is a living ghost town.Hughesville? had some serious ruins but one of the websites say much of it has been demolished. Bannack if you can only visit one in MT. the only one I've seen more extensive than Bannack is Bodie in CA > it's also a State Park which seem to help in preservation. Some government agency's are only allowed to stabilize buildings. Some allow volunteer groups to come in and restore bits to what is supposedly looked like in the day.

RE: Buying a New 2016 trailer in 2019. What’s it worth?

I know of an RV dealer that probably still has a brand new 2015 toyhauler in the lot. They want more than I can get a new version for at a different dealer.

RE: Cumbres Toltec Scenic Railway - Southern Rockies

You can camp up near Sublette NM and watch as it comes through the area. I've chased it on a dual-sport as there's a dirt road that follows it in that area. I rode the train years ago and some guy was doing the same thing so I made it a mission to go back one day and do what he did.

RE: Where do Americans list their RV's ?

Facebook Marketplace is where everyone seems to sell around here. You can see who you are dealing with. I listed a Honda EU2000i recently and thought i would throw it on CL too but it seems a ghost town around here. I had two inquiries on CL and one smelled of a scammer. I had a bunch of inquires on FB and according to their tracker 1400+ people had looked at the ad.

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

But I understand, much better to spend the time and electrons discussing who got a touchdown in last week's soccer game. I've actually volunteered in a national park and you?
