RE: Water heater questions....

Did you check if your valves were only 1/4 turn valves? Or are they the ones that turn a few revolutions? If they are the screw type and you never touched the cold valve then it's still open and needs to be closed. They are 1/4 turn valves. I did the winterize, closed hot water valve, opened bypass valve, never touched cold water valve (already in closed position). All went well. I will check the cold water valve when I dewinterize and use the RV in a few months. Temps here dropping to 18 tonight :E

RE: Water heater questions....

Instead of messing with the pressure relief valve, why not just open a faucet on the hot side? It’ll do the same thing. Something definitely screwy with the valve. I did open faucets first, but when I released the pressure valve water still came out.

RE: Water heater questions....

Might not want to open the pressure vent. Lots of plumbers over the years have told me to never touch them on residential water heaters. ??? not sure what you are talking about? I'm talking about my rv Your RV WH has one too and many of us open them to speed up draining. It's a gamble though because sometimes they leak forever more after that. So it was good advice that also goes for RV's. Well when taking the drain plug out its safer to release the pressure first. I've replace the pressure valve on a different rig before, not a big deal if needed.

RE: Water heater questions....

Thanks for the pictures, that is exactly what I have. Must be the valve then. Water heater works fine! Thanks!

RE: Water heater questions....

If the blue line valve was closed you would not have gotten any hot water at the faucet, so it must have been in the open position. Normal RV operation: Red line valve open Bypass valve closed Blue line valve open Bypassed: Red line valve closed Bypass valve open Blue line valve closed Hmm, well unless the valve is somehow backwards it was in the sideway position (closed) and not in line with the line (open).

Water heater questions....

My water heater has 3 valves on it. One on the red line at top = it's open One in the middle = bypass valve closed One on the blue line at bottom = closed Should the bottom blue line valve be open for normal RV usage? I'm just wondering, I am winterizing, drained water heater, shut off red line, opened bypass, blue already closed, will leave it that way. Is this correct? Thx!

RE: Another winterize question....

you buy a hose and cut it so you a a section of hose with the correct fitting to hook up to your trailer then place the cut end into the jug of antifreeze and turn your pump on and it should suck it up as long as you have the valves in the right position And then does it pump it through your system from there? So you turn on faucets inside and let it come through? Thx!

RE: Traveling to Austin from Las Vegas

I did that trip last February....went through Flagstaff-->Gallup-->Albuquerque, down through Lubbock and straight to Austin. Roads were all clear, but it was cold out! Safe travels!!

RE: Another winterize question....

Anybody? I have no idea how you are supposed to get the anti freeze into the inlet that has a standard hose fitting connection.

RE: Another winterize question....

DutchmenSport wow great instructions! Thank you! But as MitchF150 mentioned above....the anti freeze inlet is a standard hose fitting connection, so what pumps the anti freeze into it?

RE: Another winterize question....

Ok so when the pump draws from the anti freeze inlet it pumps it through the trailer wherever I open the faucet right? Sounds logical.

Another winterize question....

So my trailer has an "inlet" on the side that says anti-freeze inlet. There are 3 (shutoff/diversion) valves. 1 to the tank (I believe) 1 on the red water heater line and one on the blue water heater line. I do not know how to use this anti-freeze inlet. Do I turn all the valves, drain water heater, put anti-freeze in the inlet and run the pump? Then also pour some down the drains as usual? Thanks!! I looked for videos but couldn't find anything using the inlet.

RE: RV satellite

Thinking about buying a new satellite system. Tail gater satellite and the Wally receiver. Any recommendations and comments? Correction---- how about the Wingard Play Maker I am also trying to find out what others think about the Winegard Playmaker mostly in comparison to the King VQ4550!

RE: Dish & Wally Receiver

In theory, two properly working domes should preform about the same. The Pathway X2 would give you better performance due to the larger reflector. The pathway x2 is just too big and bulky, it sounds like the Winegard playmaker may be better made than the one I have. Besides the pathway, there has to be one that will perform better than the one I have, at least I hope so. Still looking for somebody who has this one --> Winegard White Company PL-7000 Dish Playmaker Thanks!
