RE: Diesel to Gas Power Observation

I think that the diesel/gas ratio in 2500 and 3500 trucks is going to be skewed by the number of municipality gas trucks that are sold.

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

I made our reservations 11 months ago for a FL state park. I can only reserve for 14 days. The fee for that stay is $499 and change so a grand for a month. There are private parks out there for less. The attraction to the state parks is for the bigger sites and usually less mayhem. I have no way to accurately make a statement about the percentage of over 65 FL residents that are in their state parks at any given time. I do know that if the bill passes that percentage will increase but the state's revenue will decrease as no full rate campers will be able to get in. If I were in charge I would raise the camping fees to $35 a night plus the $7 "utility" charge, still give the FL seniors their 50% discount but raise it to 70 yoa, and not offer an early portal. But that's just me.

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

The bill will probably get passed or modified in some way. Knowing how these thing work the bill will be so loaded down with pork by the time it gets voted on who knows. Maybe they can charge for the orange juice at the welcome center to make up the deficit. I do see Floridians flooding our beautiful NC in the warmer season and we're happy to see them and their money.

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

It will be what it becomes but that will be the end of us coming to FL every winter for a month or so. We can't afford $3K monthly sites. Let's not forget that Floridians over 65 already get half off pricewise. I've spoken with many Floridians during the winter months that are only in the campgrounds because they are renting out their home 5 miles away for ridiculous prices. That's not a wrong thing. You can't blame them for using their noggins.

RE: Unable to identify model of trailer

The trailer is not worth saving. Turn it into a utility trailer and be done with it.

RE: Pet Peeves in RV Parks

The higher sewer connections are almost always a result of local or state ordinances where flooding can release bad stuff into places it shouldn't be. SC state parks for example. I'm up early, really early. If the nose LEDs are still on I leave a polite note on the offending windshield. It's actually worked a time or two. Somebody mentioned a deaf eye. That's not how it goes 'bro. :B

RE: Park pet peeves, Park owner’s turn

We've been RVing for about 25 years. The only "bad" campground was in MD. They literally had the gate outside the entrance so that you had to walk a hundred yards to the office to get them to open the gate open so that you could drive in and then check in to get the code for the next time you left and wanted to re enter. It went on and on from there. There were rules posted on trees everywhere, and they were different rules on each tree. My favorite one was posted on a wooden coat rack standing on an aging concrete pad in the middle of a field. The sign said "no playing here dancing only" Regardless of all that we enjoyed our stay. It is or was their property so guess what? Behave!

RE: Slab sinking

Can you just live with it? It might be pretty pricey to correct.

RE: Overloaded or wrong truck?

@Time2Roll The interweb says that a tope is excessive alcohol consumption. What did you mean to type? If the truck wasn't bought new I'd say it's a salt water flood victim. Speed bumps in Mexico are called Topes. The difference is they are 2-3 times higher and extremely abrupt compared to speed bumps in the USA. Hit one at 60mph and expect damage. Thanks for the explanation.

RE: Insert pins

They make them with a built in retainer as in the link Can't lose the pin clicky Those don't work well in this climate. A little salt and rain, and they seize up. Good point, I didn't think of that as we are southern. I do remember having some that had a different kind of flipper but they seem to be off the market now. Maybe a bag of small rubber bands for back up when the pin is lost.

RE: Alcohol Detection Systems in All New Vehicles

Like all other things it's all about the money. Try as they might the IRS can not figure out how to tax dead people. It's a battle between them and the alcohol and drug sellers.

RE: Towing with lifted truck; need assistance

I can not believe all of the nonsense on this post. I have a 2007 2500hd Duramax with a 7" to 9" Cognito lift, and Deaver springs. I tow a 28'6" Vortex trailer that weighs in at 12780 lbs, and a tongue weight of 1340lbs, resting on an Equalizer hitch with 1,400 lb bars. Been towing for 11 years and it is rock solid even in the wind. But you are not a noob with a new toy to learn about. If they can afford a new trailer they can also afford to at least get the truck inspected by a shop trained in lifts and suspensions. There are lots of variances in the quality of lift kits, from pot metal EBay stuff to quality machined components.

I think that Tim the Tool Man hot rodded that microwave. He told me once 20 seconds was too long to wait for hot coffee.

RE: traction tracks

In looking at some examples of them online I don't see why they wouldn't help. They're cheap and light. A 45 Liberty Coach is one thing, a 24 Class C is another thing.
