RE: I-40 Anything worth seeing

Amarillo has a very nice RV park, with limo ride to Big Texan Steakhous Bandera, TX, south of I-40, but not much is the Cowboy Capital of the World (Old Bandera Pass Cattle drive) Fredericksburg, TX.. German town and Military Museum (if open) I-40 has a big area, 7 Stations of the Cross which is very nice to see.. big RV parking area Understand NM is not letting people in unless you are a NM resident if you are going that far.NM is not stopping anyone from entering the state. The signs on the interstates tell visitors (whatever that means) to quarantine for 14 days and masks are required. We went through NM on July 1st and again on the 10th (even stopped for lunch in NM). There was nothing obstructing our travels. We saw the quarantine signs but no cops.

RE: Wilderness camping and gun safety

(Wherever I am) I am always safer when I have a loaded firearm handy. I not only feel safer but I am safer. My wife says she feels saver when she knows I'm armed, especially in these trying times. Having an unloaded firearm is foreign to me. I was a cop for 30 years, my guns are always loaded. For the doubters: Are you better off having a fire extinguisher loaded with firefighting chemicals or having one that you have to load the chemicals prior to use? Are you better off wearing your seatbelt or not wearing it but having it handy? Keep your gun loaded. Hope this helps.

RE: Tires

Michelin XPS Ribs are available. Last April I replaced my 6 year old XPS ribs with XPS Ribs. No need to go to any other tire, the Michelin XPS Rib is a proven performer. As a side note my old XPS Ribs were made in the UK while the new ones are from Germany. Much better quality than China.

RE: Celebrating our 50th anniversary...

Yeah, the monsoon was awesome last night, no more smoke on the mountain. After the RV show is over we're loading the RZR into the trailer and heading to Utah for some trail riding. Congrats on 50.

RE: Pet Peeves long road trip

Every once in a while I like to not move over or slow down (because I don't have to) and watch what the car does coming up the ramp.

RE: My Covid 19 nightmare

Any doctors here? Several times he said he was treated with antibiotics, which are known not to kill a virus. Then why give antibiotics? For me I'll be asking to be treated with hydroxychloroquine, which has been proven to work.

RE: How many miles a day can we go?

Wife and I did Tucson to Tampa towing our toy hauler in 4x500 mile days. Depending on your stamina, it's very doable.

RE: New Mexico 'Quarantine" Requirements

We're currently in NM. Overhead signs say 14 day quarantine for visitors and masks required or pay fine. They don't define what a visitor is and there is no enforcement anywhere I can see. Been on the 40, 25, and 10 and cops are non-existent today. Guess it's the honor system. That's right. I hope you'll be honorable and continue through NM without spending the night unless you plan to self quarantine for 14 days.We stopped for gas twice and had a wonderful lunch in a small Mexican restaurant in TorC. Does that make us visitors? A lot of hate going on in this thread just because I stated an opinion that others can't seem to tolerate. Too bad. Covid-19 has a 99% survival rate. Pay attention to what's going on. In AZ it is true that both Phoenix and Tucson mayors lied to CNN this week stating that our ICU's are over loaded with Covid patients. That has been proven false by the hospitals in this state. It has also been proven that if a hospital can claim a patient is Covid they get thousands of $$$ from the government. It has also been proven that people that only have one or two Covid symptoms with no Covid diagnosis are also listed as Covid positive. Can you see what's going on here? Probably not. The hospitals are padding the fiures to make a ton of money off this covid virus. All everyone talks about are spikes in cases. What does that mean? Death? In an ICU? Minor illness and taking care of it at home? Does anyone talk about the people that get better? Just this month over 3,000 patients have been released from the hospital. The 2018 flu season saw 80,000 Americans die. Did anyone wear a mask? Close a business? Close the schools? Social Distance? It is true that the CDC recommended against wearing masks unless you were infected or caring for the sick. CDC said not to close schools, Etc. And it wasn't an election year. All we here is a spike in cases without any further info as to the severity. It's also not mentioned that deaths are way down and dropping in number. There's a lot of information we aren't being told. There's a lot of fraud and lying going on with this disease to scare the crud out of people and it seems to be working. Have a nice day.

RE: SRW vs DRW

My toy hauler has a hitch weight of 3,500 pounds and I need the 5,000 pound payload of a dually to carry everything else in the truck.

RE: Covid 19 impact on interstate travel?

Our current trip is Tucson to Branson MO and back. We are moteling it this trip. Last Monday, the 1st, we left Tucson and spent the night in Santa Rosa NM in a motel and there were no restrictions to travel. So far going Tucson to Branson and back to Amarillo we have had no travel issues in any states. Today we are on our way home and spending tonight in Amarillo TX. We will travel through NM tomorrow and I'll let you know if anything happens. Also, who's going to regulate, moderate, or even notice if someone isn't following their silly rules? BTW, Branson was wonderful. Masks if you want to. Try to social distance but that wasn't happening at their wonderful fireworks show. We saw 7 shows and hardly anyone was wearing a mask. Just like the old days, lol.

RE: Blow-out ...

A tire blowout on my trailer is something I don't worry about because I run truck tires and not those cheap ST tires. I can use my trailer's jacks to raise the tire off the ground or a 16 ton bottle jack I carry. I don't worry about a lug wrench as I use a battery operated hammer wrench that removes lug nuts with ease. The only tire issue I've ever had was a blowout on my truck due to a failed valve stem. Other than that, my trailer tires have been trouble free.

RE: New Mexico 'Quarantine" Requirements

I'd like to see anyone try to quarantine my wife and I. I'd like to see anybody try to restrict my movements. I won't put up with it. We're in Branson, MO for a week and having a marvelous time. No masks required. Social distancing is requested but at the firework show last night no one was doing it. I love it here but will have to return to the People's Republic of Tucson and the socialist, activist mayor. Last year in the US there were 19 million known cases of the ordinary flu. This covid bug is also going to have millions of cases so just get every one exposed to it, get herd immunity, and get it over with. It's not a death sentence, after all, as too many people think it is. It's proven that the covid numbers are highly inflated as the hospitals are getting paid thousands for every covid case they can come up with.
