RE: Urgent Need of Advice re Winterizing!

If you blow everything out, and run the pump dry, you should be okay inside a barn. Big difference between temp of 25, and 10. I am thinking inside the barn should stay considerably warmer than out door temp. An electric heater inside should protect pipes. If you are sure of the small amount in tanks, they should survive too, as long as you are in the barn. This is just an opinion, don't call me if everything freezes solid. :) Jerry Not sure where you got the idea he was in a barn!! You are correct, sorry. I missed that! "I will be running a small electric heater inside the unit which should help keep the temp inside above freezing, and the TT will be parked inside a barn out of the wind." Reading comprehension starts by reading entire OP Jerry

RE: What good are low point drains?

Low point drains are intended to allow you to drain all the water out of the fresh water system. Regardless if your rig is supposed to be good down to 0 degrees I doubt if the system is left for months in freezing temps the water system would survive. The fact it is good down to 0 degrees likely means with you living in it and running some heat. Shut that heat off and as soon as the rig cools below 32 degrees things are going to start freezing including your water system, something you don't want to deal with.

RE: rolled MH onto the side - and the towed

If it was already declared "totaled" that means the adjuster has already determined the repair would exceed 70-75% of the vehicles value (depends on company policy). Yes, it will be reported to CarFax and any other reporting service at this point, since it has already been evaluated by an adjuster. You will be provided the option to "buy back" your car at salvage value. If you take this option, salvage value will simply be deducted from your settlement value (book value minus any outstanding lien payments) and you will end up with a branded title. You do not get diminished value unless it was determined "repairable' (i.e. non totaled). He said the MH was totaled not the car. It's the car he's asking about.

RE: Fresh Water Tank Drain

My drain is within reach from the side of the rig and is a quarter turn valve which I can turn using a pliers. Crawling under is a pain but one would only have to do it once per year to winterize (in our part of the world). Same.

RE: Gap year, family of 6, TV and TT recommendations

Personally, I wouldn't do that trip with any gasser. We towed a 10,500 lb 5th wheel to California and back with a 2011 GMC 2500 6.0L and traded it for a diesel a year later. As previously mentioned, i hated towing over the mountains with that gasser.

RE: 5th wheel with largest tanks

I'm considering pulling my current fresh water and replacing it with a larger tank. FYI, you all realize most fresh water tank capacities include the hot water heater!! Read the fine print.

RE: Strange issue with this forum

Was happening to me and saw a recommended change to change the number of issues displayed in your preferences. i made the change but it didn't help all pages.

RE: Question for full timers...

Look up Next Exit and Dan & Jen Nevada on YouTube. They both have periodic videos on their costs to full time.

RE: What do you want in a campground?

I was a host at Meramec for a month. Will never return. I have spent time in most of Mo state parks, and that was the worse managed I have been in. Poorly managed state parks seems to be a running theme, I have the same opinion of Kansas state parks.

So what's up with the error messages on several of the forum pages?

RE: Solar Panel Thread

There used to be a thread that had several members solar installs listed with links but it seems to have disappeared.

RE: Inside Tire Wear?

It's likely something has caused an out of alignment issue. I take mine to an axle shop every two years for an alignment check and adjustment if needed.

RE: Check Your Battery(s)

The moral to the story is to check the water level monthly.

RE: Would appreciate the groups thoughts on tandem axle issue

My first thought is a wheel alignment issue. I have my 5ver axles aligned every two years. I realize this was a new unit but it still could have been out of alignment. no way to you to know that though, especially since it was new.

RE: Roll over

News article says "truck and Camper"... but that's a truck and travel trailer. Camper, travel trailer...It's all the same.

RE: black water holding tank valve opens but won't drain

Get a Flush King, they work great.

RE: Tires, again!

But the OP gave no weight for his trailer so no way to know if the Sailun would be overkill. No such thing as overkill when it comes to camper tires in my opinion.

RE: Will fifth wheel front hit truck back window?

If you go far enough yes, regardless of 5th wheel or truck.
