RE: Propane tank valve - stuck solid
For bad 20# tanks, just exchange them and let the knowledgeable mechanics at the propane co. deal with them. Pick out exchange tanks with a long service life so you canget them refilled.

I didn’t know the weather could be so severe in late September. Now you’ve got me wondering!
The weather in all these high altitude parks is very unpredictable. But the fact that the Cody RV parks close down then, makes me think it isn't all that unusual for that time of the year. The Park cg close down at the end of Sept too I believe. At least the Tetons cg do and Fishing Bridge was empty when we drove by on the way out.

The road east of Ten Sleep goes thru a high mountain pass and was very snowy when we went thru west to east last late September. Cody thru the park on 14 was also high altitude and actively snowing hard and being plowed at the time. The hot springs at Thermopolis were a major disappointment, concrete pools inside a building.
So be prepared for weather in the park. Of course I have been in snowstorms there in July. The park is high altitude 9000ft more or less. Cody rolls up the sidewalks at the end of September and all the RV parks close. Be sure to visit Lamar Valley if you want to see critters.
I could not believe the prices at Fishing Bridge now.

If the good wrong way advice does not work, then the valve can be replaced. Call around to find a local propane shop that services tanks.

Not sure if that is the current model but it works great, has a large screen, and is magnetic mount. We have a Garmin but have heard that the current camera isn't very good.

Be aware, however, that it will slow your data when the network is congested.
We've been on it for a couple of years and we have never seen that throttling. I did not see a mention of that in the new plan description either. However they do throttle to 5 mb/sec at all times. Usually not an issue.

It's not buy again. It is switch froom the old $40 plan to the new $30 plan. I just was checking that there was now reason to switch to the new $45 plan unless you want to call Australia or the Congo. They will overnight a new SIM if you need one.

NAPA auto parts has parts for old autos and such many times. I would try them first. Rock Auto online is the last resort for old vehicles. That engine however is some major auto engine from that time period. It wasn't made by Holiday.

So far as I can tell the $30 Visible Plan is the same as the $40 current plan. The plus plan just adds more international and 5G. Is that what everyone is seeing?

No one wants to bad other state campers from the FSP, we would just like to see residents have at least a 50 50 chance every month of the year.
Other state parks may not be as crowded or full since they just are not as good. Florida has repeatedly won the national park award. Plus Florida has a LOT of parks in highly desirable places. We have a dedicated, no political hands, funding source for new parks. And you never hear Florida Pols threaten or actually closing parks like Tennessee or Cali for example.
So it is true I'd like to camp in one of the six parks near me. And I suspect folks in Ottawa would like to do the same during their Fimbulwinter

This area doesn’t strike me as a hot bed of campers nor home to very many big camping State Parks.
Maybe that is what it looks like from the distance of Ottawa. But it is wrong. That is the start of Gulf Coast beach access and the beginning of the northern springs parks. Very popular parks. Check Ft Desoto for example. Or Rainbow Springs.

You do understand that you're telling the snowbird crowd you don't want our money coming into your state don't you. What we spend for state park sites is only a small part of what we spend at area businesses and attractions.
Not at all, you guys can take your chances with us. And as pointed out, there are thousands of private cg. Lately with all the tack ons, I'm not sure the SP are much if any cheaper.

Well to me I it would depend: who is carrying most of the freight and by how much - camping fees or state taxpayers? Private campgrounds it’s a no brainer.
It is obvious that for SP that the taxpayer is footing the bill. I suspect the actual operating costs are all or mostly funded by fees tho. I have no doubt the cg would still be filled up no matter who has preference. Land purchases are funded by a Doc Fee tax I believe. I've lost track how many parks the state has, near 200 when I last checked.
The only obvious way to give residents preference would seem to be opening the reservation period for the first X time to residents only.
Maybe if there is a six month res period giving the residents the first four months.
I am 100 persent for this.
They need to fix the online system which is awful right now. Bettter to go back to the old system.

With current weather and our national weather-guy predicting a major snow event in the Rockies/midwest I'd think hard about whether to take it. He is generally calling for a cold and snowy February start anyway out there with a break for Cali. Normally I would not think about leaving ours.

Maybe. But a lot of people tow light as well. Both the lightnings and Rivians have decent towing ranges when towing smaller single axle trailers. We saw one towing a [email protected] this fall on the Sunshine Coast. Never had a chance to talk to him. Think it was an American plate. He was coming off the ferry and we were getting ready to go on. Sharp looking little truck though. Kind of a darker green colour.
Yup, and some people tow heavy. So it was a legit question. Not sure why people have their knickers in a twist over it...
And this is an RV forum and most folks here are towing Fivers and Travel Trailers. Or maybe planning to do so. Why else would we be looking at Tow Trucks forum? Not of great interest to Class A, B and C Rvers. Not too many camping using a 8 foot Tractor Supply flatbed.

It’s an interesting article and I’m sure it’s accurate. But as the article points out this is if the driver was to use on DC fast charging facilities. But just like in North America the vast amount of charging is done at home in your driveway where it is much cheaper. For us it is 6 times cheaper to drive electric than gas when charging at home. When we started to drive EV seven years ago it was 4 times cheaper. So it continues to get cheaper driving an EV. And of course much more convenient, especially in winter.
Hmm wonder why, did the price of fuel go up?

Their natural market is service companies. Electricians and Plumbers etc. That drive locally. And at that price I doubt they will get very far.
The towing ranges I've seen are 100 miles or less. And bigger battery means heavier weight and that means lower carry capacity. An unbreakable problem with chemical batteries.
Furthermore this cold wave has generated all sorts of news stories of people discovering the cold facts of battery life. I saw one of someone trying to go cross country at Christmas and getting a one hundred mile range, and finding that some chargers do no work in cold temps and those that do took two hours for a charge. They spent more time, and lots of money, at chargers than they did driving. In Europe charger costs exceeded gasoline costs.
