RE: New Jeep Gladiator TOAD

Bit the bullet tonight and ordered the CoolTech harness for our Gladiator (ouch), but after a lot of reading various groups I felt it was the best and safest bet.
Also ordered the new parts for the ReadyBrake we already have.
Now I need it to warm up a bit, crawling around and cold concrete is no fun.

RE: Towing a Honda CRV one time - NC to Maine

Tough one. You're in a bit of a no win situation. Since it's not your CRV I'd ask them how they feel about it being towed without brakes. Like you not sure I'd feel great about that. Check places like Sunbelt Rentals or some more local rental shops, I know a few around me have a couple - though unsure if they have brakes or not.
Are you towing it up and leaving it there, or will it come back with you? I'm not sure I'd want to spend all that $$$ to purchase a trailer for a one time use. How about driving it up? Maybe pay for an airline ticket for them to come down... might be cheaper.

RE: Toads

A quick, non-authoritative, review of the Chevy Trailblazer online owners manual it would appear the AWD is flat tow able, the FWD can not.

RE: New Jeep Gladiator TOAD

Funny how things can change in a short time. 30 days ago I was still loving my Wrangler, end of December I was able to pick up a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon and trade my 2011 Wrangler. Loving the Gladiator, but need to start the process of getting it flat tow ready.

RE: Best route from Salem, Oregon to West Valley City, Utah?

With the weather we've seen lately I'm hard pressed to recommend taking a trip like this considering your situation. I'm inclined to agree with what donkeydew said.
Heading I84 around Pendleton, OR you have Emigrant Hill, commonly called “Cabbage Hill” one of the worst stretches of highway in Oregon I'd say. Frequent weather closures along with the semi travel along the highway would make me think twice.
Hwy 20 to Bend/Burns you've got the Cacades, but after Burns you've got a whole lot of nothing - not a good area to have a break down but even worse in the winter months.
I5 South around Ashland, OR you've got Siskiyou Summit then a lot of highway as you head sound once you get to Redding it gets better and less weather issues.
Last thoughts, you're driving a 27 year old minivan and I'm unsure how old your trailer is (the Timberline TT I'm thinking of is from the 70s.) As you've said this is your HOME and you're on a tight budget. You'll need change for both the Van & the TT.
I'd really think twice about this trip during that time of the year.

RE: Happy Trails Toy Hauler

Thanks for letting us know it was the same manufacturer, at least they are still in business.

RE: Happy Trails Toy Hauler

I can honestly stay I've never heard of them. Doing some searching appears all were manufactured in 2017, I've yet to find anything definitive about the manufacture. I found one that makes horse trailers, but unsure if it was the same company. I can't give you any advice but to do a very through inspection as you won't get any manufacturer support since they don't seem to exist.

RE: purchased a custom dune sport toyhauler

Wow! dsrace thanks for the long and well documented write up. I appreciate it, sorry things have not worked out ideally with Dune Sport. Over the years there was sort of a mixed bag of reviews, but I appreciate the 1 year review to see how things really go vs a happy owner review after picking a unit up.

RE: New Jeep Gladiator TOAD

Thanks for sharing. Sad that the new Jeeps got so complex but does sound like the manufactures adapted and addressed those challenges.
I am still loving my 2011 Wrangler, but I came real close to buying a barely used 2021 Mojave Gladiator, but like MetalGator when I look now I realize how much I like my no monthly payments Jeep ;)

RE: Battery Bank Location

1L243 I do agree with CA Traveler, I'd use vented boxes in that compartment, with your sleeping area right above the front compartment I'd be extra cautious, your health and safety are important. The weight issue is also something to take note of too.

RE: We got a new RV

Congrats on the new Toy Hauler! Probably near your water pump will be a hose, mine is clear with a cap that is designed to suck straight from the gallon of antifreeze. There is probably a valve near the hot water tank that you will flip so the antifreeze doesn't try to fill that tank, then you just drain the tank of water before you pump through the lines.

RE: Seat switch

Are there any model numbers on the switch? That might help to locate some others that have swapped with a newer part.
