RE: Travel When Restrictions lifted

I tell you what.. I'll go camping where I can easily meet or exceed all social distancing norms and y'all just go ahead and stay home. That way we will both be happy. Mike

RE: Travel When Restrictions lifted

Makes perfect sense to me, and really reflects the feelings that many of us have. The virus is real... no doubt. The hoax is the changing and moving of the goal posts, inflating the number of deaths and the ridiculous implementation of nonsensical restrictions. Just a few examples. You can jog on a beach, but the trails used for jogging are closed ... You can go to Walmart with no restriction on number of personnel, but get thrown in jail if you go out in a boat with more than 4 people, even if they are all your family members (thank you Illinois Gov). Hard to believe people who make up this nonsense actually get a paycheck. Mike

RE: Travel When Restrictions lifted

Not to mention the 5000 cases in NY where the GOV mandated that assisted living homes must take COVID patients, and as a result, 5000 people died. Mike

RE: Anyone traveling yet

This discussion/argument has gone on in an untold number of threads, and neither side is going to convince the other to change. There's one side that is unwilling to venture outside of home unless absolutely necessary and don't want to open up anything until the virus is eradicated and there is a vaccine. Regardless of what we learn along the way that might enlighten people and should cause some to rethink. Then there's the group that looks at things a little more objectively, and don't apply a one size fits all solution. It's not that folks on this side don't care, or don't have any concerns, it's just that you can't freeze everything in time and hide inside until this thing goes away. It's pretty telling when over half of the deaths occur in the highest population areas, despite the direction to stay at home. 5000 deaths alone based on a decision to direct assisted living homes that they must, by law, admit COVID patients. Talk about criminal! For those of you who feel that the only way people on the other side will believe is if something happens to someone close to them, well, I view that as lashing out because we don't agree with you. It has nothing to do with whether or not we believe this virus is real, but again, there's not a one size fits all approach. No one yet has made a single convincing argument about why it's dangerous or selfish to go camping in a state park that is open, and more than ample space to exceed all social distancing requirements. The argument about contact along the way is a ridiculous one, especially when you can make it to your destination on one tank of fuel. And I am quite sure the same people who don't want to go anywhere do fuel up locally (although clearly not as much. In the end, each side is right in their mind, and each one is wrong in the others mind. Mike

TSD Fuel Program Update

Got an email this morning from TSD Logistics Good evening TSD Fuel card holders. We have some great news. TA/Petro has come back to us with some great rates. They will likely be the lowest price out of all of our vendors. We have also added Kwik Trip and Kwik Star to our discount program with 10 cents off per gallon. We are reaching out to others now to see if we can increase to some of the smaller chains. Our current discount network is TA, Petro, Loves, Road Ranger, SAAP Brothers, Ambest, Kwik Trip and Kwik Star. Just thought I'd share Mike

Think we need a bail-out plan to take care of the bugs. After all, bugs have feelings too. Mike

RE: Anyone traveling yet

If one leaves the city, and heads out camping, while maintaining social distancing requirements, are you helping your fellow city citizens? Seems to me answer is yes Mike

Study shows the virus spreads more quickly in confined areas than in outdoors. Okay all you hermits.. get out and spread out! Mike

RE: Anyone traveling yet

Wonder how many of the naysayers/non-believers would be willing to take their family camping in NY, GA, CA and other high risk areas. :R Just did this past weekend Not saying Im a naysayer or non-believer... I just believe in reasonable precautions. We were better socially distanced camping than here in town. For a different perspective, see what the illustrious governor of New York recently said With everything we’ve done – closed schools, closed businesses, everybody shelter at home, all the precautions about where a mask, where gloves, etc. – you still had 600 new cases that walked in the door yesterday,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “Where are those new cases still coming from, because we’ve done everything we have to close down? How are you still generating 600 new cases every day?” In trying to answer why patients keep being brought in and what their backgrounds are, a stunning finding jumped out. That shocking detail: Of all the places patients come from, like nursing homes and so on, most – 66% – were said to be social distancing at home. The three day survey looked at 113 hospitals, getting back more than 1,200 responses Not only does the results suggest they were not in subways, in taxis, for-hire vehicles, or otherwise on public, it finds that they left their houses not at all. Eighty four percent were at home, literally. Were they working? No. They were retired or they were unemployed,” Cuomo said. When you take away the percentages of those not working or retired you are left with just 17%, including essential workers in close contact with the public. “We were thinking maybe we were going to find a higher percentage of essential employees who were getting sick because they were going to work. That these may be nurses, doctors, transit workers. That’s not the case, and they were predominantly at home,” Cuomo said.

Just got back from a weekend excursion to Crooked River State Park in Georgia. Georgia State Parks have been open the entire time. Have another camping trip planned for mid June, and also Gulf Shores over 4th of July. We practiced social distancing and had a great time. Mike

RE: Giant Recreation World in Florida

The profit margin made by the dealer should be of no concern to the purchaser. Absolutely correct. I am all for people making the maximum amount of profit they can. If the purchaser is happy and paid what they paid, then it was the right price. Much smaller scale, I bet a lot of people don't realize the markup on their Iphone is over 1100%. Nor do they care (obviously). Mike

RE: SC State Parks Plan to Reopen

Good grief? 47,750 AMERICANS have died from Corona virus, wildtoad. How many more before you become...concerned? In your world, can one be concerned, but also agree to reasonable efforts to reopen, if social distancing guidelines etc are met? Im guessing not. Mike

RE: SC State Parks Plan to Reopen

Well put wildtoad. Some people want the entire population to stay holed up until no reported cases for at least a year. Glad to see some states are being realistic. I can absolutely stay way more than 6ft away from people while camping. There's no need to visit any campground staff.. nor they to visit me. Alot easier while camping than not. Mike

RE: SC State Parks Plan to Reopen

Good to hear Georgia parks have remained open for camping the whole time. I am of the belief that RVing is one of the easiest ways overall to socially distance. Easy to shut down the public facilities, minimally man the park, and allow people to camp and get away from the stress etc... Mike

RE: And Texas Caves In

Since almost all wars are related to religious beliefs, I am also hoping those who are highly religious will trust in god and congregate as before. This is the most despicable statement I have ever seen anyone on these forums, or any other social media say. You sir, have lowered the bar to an all new low. Sick, sick statement. Mike

RE: How much off MSRP now?

I suspect you will have to wait awhile and if the current situation continues, you might find them more willing to play. I agree with those who say it's probably too early. I too have never gotten 30%. My local dealer doesn't deal very much. They are generally speaking in the 25-28% off their MSRP range, but don't have any fees other than a $200 doc fee, which is far less than their competitors. My last purchase, I got 28% and considered that fair enough to stay local. I could have gotten 30% out of town/out of state, which would have saved another $1000-$1500, but at the time (granted, good economic times), it was worth it to me. If you're really in the market, maybe supporting the local dealer in these times is worth a tad less cost savings. I do agree that 20%-25% isn't even close to a reasonable deal, even during good times.

RE: How much off MSRP now?

Sounds like you've got enough experience to know how your local dealers will play (or not). Since you've bought locally before, you must have received what you consider a decent deal (in the past). Is it no longer a decent deal in your book, or are you looking for a steal of a deal, and wanting to take advantage of the situation. If you are looking for the steal, you will most certainly have to go elsewhere. I don't mean that negatively. As consumers we need to take advantage of everything we can, because the dealers certainly do. Mike
