RE: Rivian R1S

Looked up the R1S, reminds me of a Landrover.
Speaking of that front end... when I first saw them I thought they were ugly. In my town I see a Rivian pickup every so often, and in person they look pretty good! Still not great in my opinion, but not as horrible as I would have thought.
(can't seem to post a picture, probably not enough coffee in me yet)

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

Would be interesting to know which of our EV haters are also climate change deniers. Separate blather from an informed post. Seems concerns are often repeated here that could be resolved with a quick Google, makes me think some folks just don't care to learn.
That would be interesting. As far as I am aware, I have not met anyone who denies that the climate changes.

....
Bottom line we need to get off fossil fuels as fast as we can.
Why?

RE: Levelling blocks for camper on driveway with 2 degree grade

Gotta love this forum. New people come in and get made fun of for posting questions without searching, then people get made fun of for posting anything in a thread past one or two posts to answer the question. And that is only if the answers conform with what some people think is correct.
Oh well.

RE: Levelling blocks for camper on driveway with 2 degree grade

Threaded rods against the grain !! Absolute genius !! Come spring I will be making my own.
I still learn something new from this forum!
Never thought of that. I just assumed my leveling planks would split apart after years of use.

I'm a little confused, as usual.
FlatBroke, is that your truck? Or is the picture just off the internet (as I think someone else posted seeing it)?

RE: Tesla delivers there first semi

I would assume the "testing" is done carefully, with speeds and loads at the optimum to give good numbers.
No different than gas vehicles - I've never had a gasoline vehicle get the fuel mileage that was on the window sticker.

And my F150 has outstanding recalls with no parts.

What recalls do you have? I haven't heard anything about my 2021 F150 2.7

RE: Montana LLC to save on sales tax

Sounds like it borders on tax fraud? Cross your fingers maybe?
Probably not a good question to ask on a public forum by an OP that appears to use his real name in his handle and profile lol?
Maybe something has changed, but there used to threads on this forum all the time about creating an LLC or other type of "company" and registering vehicles in different states to avoid various taxes.

RE: Truck starts on its own

You know, I am not surprised at all if vehicles start themselves randomly.
There are so much electronic stuff on vehicles now things are bound to go haywire sometimes.
I am amazed at the options on my 2021 F150 XLT... it is far from the gold plated titanium option levels, and I still am learning about options it has even after owning it for a year.

RE: Truck starts on its own

My BMW rolled down every window and opened the sun roof when I was at a gun range the other day. Super weird. I'm glad it wasn't raining and I was away from the car.
A lot of cars actually have that as a "feature", you can remotely roll down (or roll down part way) windows to help cool down the car on hot days.
Many times it is a certain series of button pushing on the remote start.
My sister found that out accidentally on her Honda Passport - even the dealer didn't know at first what was going on with the windows.
Our 2015 Ford Fusion can do it, something about the unlock buttons on the key fob.

RE: uBlock Origin ad blocker

Are you watching on your computer, or using an Amazon Firestick?
We use a Firestick and it is great, but I don't know if there is anything we can do about the advertisements.

RE: Towing with lifted truck; need assistance

That is a very capable truck. Stock it can handle most all but the biggest travel trailers.
I am interested to see more replies. I don't know much about modifying trucks like that.

RE: 2018 Sprinter has tendency to overfill on fill up

A lot of aftermarket commercial bodied trucks have a similar issue. I had a 1987 F350 dump truck that I would lift the bed in order to fill the tanks... otherwise I had to "trickle fill" it and listen for the sound of the tank filling up, and check the fuel gauge to see if it was all the way full.
This is usually due to the path that the fuel filler tube took due to the custom body. At fuel pumps, you may notice contractors carefully filling their custom bodied work trucks, it is annoyingly common.
With my F350 it had nothing to do with the fuel pump or fuel nozzle.
You might be able change the location or rebuild the fuel fill tube on your camper.
Otherwise you may be stuck just trying to fill carefully.

RE: Route Planning Question

....
I tried the Good Sam Trip Planner. It has an option to avoid highways. What I'd like to see is an option to show the easiest route - even if it takes a little longer. In many cases, that might mean using highways or interstate rather than smaller roads....
That sounds a lot like a truck gps is what you are looking for.

RE: 2022 F-150 Can Not install aftermarket brake controller!!!!!

I have a 2021 F150, and YES getting anything other than a factory brake controller is a pain. Also yes, it is bordering on silly that with all the trailer equipment and options the truck has... it doesn't just come with a factory brake controller.
I ended up buying a Curt wireless brake controller that you plug in between the trailer plug and truck. Worked great this summer.
https://www.napaonline.com/accessories/curt-echo-mobile-trailer-brake-controller/27a7ac21?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organicshopping&campaign=GSC-Towing&campaign_id=8911645606&adgroup_id=121248264881&adtype=pla&gclid=Cj0KCQjw--2aBhD5ARIsALiRlwAURhUFOWQqpFBBJqN-pyC8muDqmx4OkVHPI1lHhFYx5diYuuyDno0aAtheEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&
and also YES, the 2.7 twin turbo and 10 speed transmission pull fantastic. Feels much smoother, and more powerful, than my previous 2008 F250 with the 5.4.
Fuel mileage is amazing - I can almost hit 30mpg on the highway not towing. Towing it drops way down to 11mpg, but that is 1mpg better than the 2008 F250's 10mpg. Towing a trailer around town my F150 gets around 16mpg, my 2008 F250 got around 9mpg.
Before I bought this truck with this engine I just didn't know how good V6 engines have gotten.
The "alarms" on the truck are ridiculous. The "cross traffic alert disabled" alarm bings everytime I hook up a trailer (along with a couple other warning alarms)... and I don't even know what that is, lol!
Ford needs to have a "work mode" for the truck that disables most of the alarms and warnings when towing and working with the truck.

RE: Stowe Vermont this weekend things to do

We had a good time. Sat and visited with relatives, and went out and explored.
Turns out... unless you are skiing, hiking, drinking, or eating... there is not a whole lot to do in Stowe! lol, yea yea, I know... there are some things to do. The center of Stowe is pretty cool, with some shops that are worth visiting. Not big, but cool.
And also, remember that everything in Vermont is about 30 minutes away. Nice drives, but everything is spaced out.

RE: Adding fan behind refrigerator...worthwhile??

Our frig always seems to work better when the daytime temperatures are hotter. My wife has mentioned that too, so I don't think it is just me imagining it. Our TT frig has side and roof vents, so I assume the hot air vents itself out.
I am not sure an exterior cooling fan would make much of a difference.
What I have heard a lot of people do is put a fan inside the frig to help even out the cooling.

Stowe Vermont this weekend things to do

So we are visiting relatives in Stowe, Vermont this weekend 10/21 to 10/22.
Ideas for things to see and do? I believe we are past "peak" leaf peeping season.
Stores, craft shows, standard touristy things.
Out relatives probably already have plans for us, but it would be nice to show up with a couple ideas.
Thanks in advance!
