RE: Sewage Follies

I'll never forget the time we were at the RV lanes at a Flying J waiting our turn. The RV in front of us was dumping when his hose split and all the sewage spilled over the entire area. The owner put the hose in the garbage bin and drove off leaving an awful smelly mess. We moved to a different lane and before we left this poor young girl was out with a scraper trying to push the mess down the drain hole - she was holding her nose with one hand and doing her best to clean up.

RE: rolled MH onto the side - and the towed

Having just returned from a recent trip to Quebec, I would be curious to know where this accident occured. We found a lot of construction and poor driving conditions on our trip. I am so glad to hear you are all safe and well.

RE: Camping around Christmas time

We enjoyed some very nice Christmases in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. The parks had lots of activities planned and the local towns were very festive.

RE: Hope all you Snowbirds got out ahead of the blizzards!

Let's hope this is not going to be an indication of the winter that lies ahead. Snow in early October is just waaaaaaaaaaay too sooooooooooon.

RE: 4 person sleeping

2 ironing boards laid over each set of seats with sleeping bags on top. Presto! Instant bed. Sounds very uncomfortable to me.

RE: Albuquerque Balloon Festival Questions

We went a few years ago and it was an incredible experience. We decided to blow the bank roll and we signed up with Adventure Caravans. It was a fantastic experience and worth the $$$. We had excellent camping facilities with water & electric supplied + a pump out service came through mid week. It was an 11 day experience. Breakfast and dinner were provided daily, the shuttle bus stopped amidst the RV's, many of the balloons came down in the camping area. On some days, bus tours were provided in the area to local attractions. In the evening we could sit outside the RV and watch the nightly fireworks. We were close enough that we could walk to the grounds during the day if we wished. There were some vendors to check out. Balloon activities are early in the morning (5 am) and the evening. If you only plan to be there 3 days and the weather is not favorable, the balloons won't go up and you are out of luck. We were really glad we went this route despite the cost - it was well worth it for a do once experience.

RE: making dinette bed bigger

Personally I would be looking for another floorplan that provides a comfortable bed for you. There are lots of Class C's out there.

RE: Propane tank recertification

How old are your current tanks? For safety sake, it might be in your best interest to get new tanks if they are past their expiry date. I see your camper is a 2004 - probably if the tanks have never been replaced, it might be time.

RE: Sights along Lake Superior

Don't forget the big goose at Wawa. Last time we were there it was badly in need of a paint job and funds were being raised. Hope that has happened by now. It is a pleasant stop for a coffee or lunch break. BTW - the big goose is a Canada Goose in case you didn"t know.

RE: Ford V10 Winterize/additive?

Our B+ is stored over the winter. We always add stabilizer to the gas, top up the propane tank and take it out about every month for a short run. So far, never a problem.

RE: Out of the blue....

I would like to suggest that those of you who love having friendly RVers stay at your place, should become hosts via Boondockers Welcome. It is a great organization and we have stayed with some wonderful people who are happy to not only accommodate you, but provide local information. Have a look at Boondockerswelcome.com

RE: Down to Road trek?

We too are struggling with the decision of going from a B+ to a B van. We love all the room and huge bathroom in our current unit + with having a Murphy bed, we have extra space during the day. The problem is we still enjoy the convenience of a tow car but the hooking/unhooking and added driving stress are becoming a concern. DH has Parkinsons so some chores are becoming more difficult. Our biggest concern with a further downsize (we used to have an A class)is bathroom and shower facilities. If we could find a B van with a reasonable bathroom, it would work for us. We could handle the small space for the convenience of less stressful driving. This getting older is NOT fun!

RE: Downloading at Campground

When we had our truck camper, we usually left it on the truck. We would do some hard hiking or bicycling, come back and take showers. This renewed us and we felt presentable to go shopping or out for supper, whatever. Reloading was a bit of a chore for us as we had max. 1 inch of clearance on each side between the camper and the box. We got good at it, but sometimes it was a challenge getting lined up etc.

RE: Towing Jeep Trailhawk

We tow a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk with no problems. We had to have a Mopar wiring harness installed at our expense ($800 in Canada). The other thing you have to be sure of is that your vehicle has Active Drive II. I don't know a lot about this, but we came close to buying a different model and by chance discovered it was Active Drive I and apparently it cannot be towed. Check carefully in the owner's manual - DO NOT trust the sales person - they are only trying to make a sale and often do not know anything about towing. It cost us $3000 to set up our Jeep for towing. If we hadn't invested this money in it, we would have got rid of it. We do not particularly enjoy this vehicle but are stuck with it for now. Do your homework!

RE: Ford Nugget

Looks interesting but that big bed sure takes up a lot of space. I think we will stick with our Murphy bed which only takes up valuable floor area at night time. I do like the size of the new van though - always trade offs!

RE: New member with used class c

Georgia will not be real warm in February, BUT it will be better than NYS. We have been to Twin Oaks - it is an OK spot.

Cheap Gas along 401

Does anyone have experience going to the native gas stations just off the 401 Exit 556 near Belleville. All I know is that stations on the Reserve are open to the general public but I have not heard of anyone actually using one of these stations. Advice?

RE: Invisibrake or Stay-In-Play Duo ??

We have used Invisibrake for several years - no problems. Only thing we are not happy about is ours was installed under the driver's seat of our Jeep Cherokee. The box does not quite fit entirely under the seat and takes up floor space for a passenger in the back seat. We do not have passengers too often and when we do, I sit there so as to avoid ay damage that might happen to the unit. Your CRV might have more room to house the unit.
