RE: New to the forum, new to TT's as well

This is a great forum for newbies. I am a 67 year old female and I bought my first travel trailer 2 years ago. The people on this website helped me tremendously. I couldn't have done it without them. Another really good souce is a book I purchased. It is called "The Idiots Guide to RVing." I take it with me whenever I travel. It covers all types of RVs including travel trailers, popups, etc. It covers virtually everything and is in a language I understand not technical terms. I think you are really going to enjoy yourself. My travel trailer is parked on my land. Even after 2 years, I sometimes go out and sit in it and the feeling of being on vacation comes back to me.

RE: Those with portable surge protector

I use mine when plugged in at home. I don't see any reason to take a chance. I live in a rural area & the power has gone off at least 5 times this summer. I really appreciate the advice from others to unplug during a lightning storm. I always thought I was safe since I was using a surge protector. From now on, I am going to unplug during a storm.

RE: Pressure Pro TPMS battery replacement

I would purchase a Tire Minder system. I replaced my batteries yesterday and it took me less than a minute to replace each one. Also, Tire Minder sends you free batteries each year.

RE: Kitty litter: How do you dispose of it while on the road?

I trained my cat to use pee pads. I just poured a couple of cups of cat litter on top of the pad and decreased the amount over a 10 day period. Now, I only use pee pads.I have virtually no cat odor in my house and no litter mess.

RE: Looking for South Texas Park with activities.

I recommend going down to South Padre Island. I have vacationed down there a lot. There are several RV parks on the island. While the RV parks don't offer a lot of activities, the hotels do and they are open to everyone not just their hotel guests. You can go parasailing, banana boats, rent boogie boards and go horseback riding on the beach. You can also rent dune buggies to go to uninhabited beaches. Also, you can book tours down to Mexico to explore their market places. There are numerous deep sea and bay fishing boats, gift shops and restaurants on the island.

RE: Dog won't go into RV

My pet does not like to travel. He is fine once he is in the car or RV but getting him in there is the problem. I have gotten in the habit of feeding him in his pet carrier every day. I don't close the carrier door. I just let him eat and walk back out. When I need to travel, I just feed him and shut the carrier door. Then, I lift the carrier into the car or RV.

RE: When to sign and what to sign? New 2019 trailer purchase.

I special ordered my travel trailer at a dealership and also had a lot of upgrades added. I got a larger ac unit and fridge, a hot rod installed for electric hot water and special upholstery. I put 1,000 down and didn't sign any loan papers. When the travel trailer arrived at the dealership, I did the walkthrough. Then, I went to the bank and signed the loan papers authorizing them to pay the dealership and took delivery on the trailer.

RE: Nightmare experience with RV service center

I hope you charged the $600 to a credit card or debit card with a MasterCard or Visa logo. You can dispute the charge and most likely get all your money back.

RE: Anyone use a TPMS for their trailer?

I have TireMinder on my travel trailer. I have had the system for over 2 years with no problems. Their customer service is excellent and they send you new batteries for the tire monitors for free every year.

RE: Security camera in motorhome

Why mess with all that hard wiring and wi-fi connections. Go buy an Arlo Go camera. It works like a cell phone. You can just pick it up and take it anywhere without having to set up a wi-fi connection. You just download the Arlo app to turn the camera on & off. It has a motion detector that can be turned on or off. You can talk to your pet through the camera. The best thing is it can be used at home, your car or anywhere. They are about $400 but well worth it. They also have a built in alarm system with a siren. All the features can be turned on or off through the app and their customer service is fantastic.
