RE: F250 upgrades

All our trucks squat a bit. As you apply weight on the hitch, the truck compresses the comfy area of the springs and as you add more weight, you reach the load carrying of the springs. The next time you hookup, check the fender well openings on the truck front to rear. 2” down on the rear would be common on your F250 with your Rockwood.

RE: Awning misaligned when rolled up?

Usually this will happen when a gust of wind causes either awning to shift slightly. When we had a manual awning misaligned, I would slide the lock arms to store position, then push up on the roller creating a sag and flap the fabric which usually shifted it back in position.

RE: Tire pressures

This has probably been asked before but because we are leaving in the AM for the summer I need quick advise from the folks on here. We have a 2013 Ford F350 SRW 6.7L Diesel and a new to us 2016 Keystone Cougar 30' fifth wheel. We just put on 4 new Goodyear Endurance tires on the 5th wheel. The tire says to run at 80psi and that is what the tire company put in them. The label on the 5th wheel says to run 65psi in the tires. Which should we follow? One of us says the label recommendation and the other says the tire recommendation. What say you? Please advise! Not to start an argument, but apparently the OP’s trailer was equipped with D rated tires and the load sticker shows proper pressure. Many ST tires do not have a web page showing pressure vs load. That’s the reason for using sidewall listed pressurization .

RE: Tire pressures

65 psi was for a D rated tire. The new tires are E rated and 80 PSI. Run the new tires At 80 cold. As temperatures warm, you may need to adjust the cold PSI.

RE: Vanleigh Power issue bedroom nose sockets

I have a GFCI outside that not only feeds those outside plugs but also feeds one of the bedroom receptacles by our bed.

RE: Verizon Grandfathered Unlimited Plan

My neighbor has Starlink. He works from home and says it hasn’t skipped a beat since installed last year.

RE: Brevard County Florida camping fee changes

They should have dropped the stay time to 2 weeks like Fl state parks.

RE: MPH vs MPG

18 Ford F350 diesel DRW 4:30 gear, 9 towing 66-70. 14 no trailer 72-75. If you are worried about fuel mileage, you need a different hobby.

RE: No 110 Volts to Hot Water Heater Element

Look for an additional 120 volt switch on the water heater itself, suburban located on lower left looking in with outside panel removed. It’s hard to see because of its location behind gas valve.

RE: 2024 GMC and 2023 Super Duty

My daughter ordered a new Bronco coming up two years ago and we still haven't got a production date. Maybe if you order a new Super Duty today you'll have your 350k miles on the '12 by the time the new one shows up.:) Guess it depends on what you order. Both very small ford dealers in the Murphy NC area have 4 Bronco sports on their lots. 2 with 1.5 Lt and 2 with 2 Lt engines.

RE: CARLISLE CSL 16 TIRES

Carlisle tires are on every Uhaul trailer we’ve seen. I have Sailun G’s on my Cardinal.

RE: Re-level 5er with lippert hydraulics

Why has it become out of level? Have the jacks sunk further into the ground? I would pull the slides in and retract the jacks and ensure the ground below the jacks is stable. Then put boards (or plastic pads) under the jacks to make sure the trailer is as stable as possible. Over time the load on the jacks will cause some bypass in the cylinders. Mine does it every 4-6 months sitting in my barn on 5200 concrete.

RE: Not bad for 11 years and 240,000 miles.

Our 2004 duramax went to our son with 115K miles on it. It's now up to 260K miles, still on the original brake pads, still only uses 1qt of oil between changes, 7500 miles or so, a few maintenance repairs, but that's about it. Vehicles have gone a long way since the 60's when one was lucky to hit 100K before it was off to the junkyard. I have a 1976 Ford and thank Heaven they don't build them like they used to. Although I do love the truck. ;) I bought a 76 Ford Elite and ordered a 76 F250, dual tanks automatic and 390 engine. The Elite would jump in reverse from park and F250 kept blowing modulator valves . Swore I’d never buy another ford until, I ran through 70,s, 80’s, 90’s in dodges and Chevrolets. Had 4 super duty’s since 2002.

RE: Camping at 27 degrees.

We were living in our fifthwheel while our home was being built. I plugged up the wet bay opening with a rag, turned on a 40 watt light and let the water flow with a pencil lead size flow. Several days @15 degrees. We used 2 electric heaters on low over night and would turn on the furnace when we woke up every morning.

RE: Major Ecoboost repair, long delays

With 130k on the clock, I’d be visiting a junkyard looking for an engine.

RE: Dealers lots are filling up

I have 2 Ford dealerships within 15 miles of me. One has no Super Duty trucks the other has 1 F250XL. Combined, they have 10 F150s, and 2 F150 Lightnings. As of the first of October, there was still close to 30K ford trucks parked at the Kentucky speedway awaiting chips.

RE: Finally got the truck, next will the fifth wheel fit ?.

I have an above bed tool box and can completely jack knife our Cardinal.

RE: Heating the Garage

If your basement has a wet bay hole for hoses, television cords, plug it up and and just use a 40 watt lightbulb in there. We were in a NC campground during the winter of 20 while our home was under construction. Had many mornings 12-15 degrees not getting above freezing all day.

RE: Shopping new tires - is my shop confused or am I?

I have found my local Automotive dealer, Ford or Chevrolet can meet or beat any price you get from tire dealers like Discount Tire. My Chevrolet dealer got my Yukon 22” OEM tires for less than local stores and our Atlanta, Discount Tire + got me a $100 rebate.
