RE: School Me on Solar Panels

I suggest 24 volt panels. That gives you half the amperage and better voltage for the MPPT controller to work with. Some times the 24 volt panels are less expensive. Richard

RE: Installing black water tank

It is common practice to put some water back in the black tank after dumping, to stop the pyramid of poop. That water will be in the deep end, so I suggest the toilet goes over the deep end. That's the way is was done on my MH. Richard

RE: The time has come to replace the cooling unit in my fridge.

Go with the Amish unit, best thing I ever did. I now have frozen Ice cream and a fridge that stays at 36 degress DITTO! Richard

Darn! I wished I'd seen that video 80 years ago. Now I'm destined to die young. Richard

RE: Twist-on sewer valves…

In Fleetwood's infinite wisdom, my Bounder came with 2 50 gallon waste tanks. DUH! I add a gray water transfer pump to balance the waste water storage. Richard If both tanks use the same drain. Put a twist on valve on the outlet and close it. Open both tanks and they will equalize themselves. Or I can just flip the pump switch in stead of going out side. I can also use the same pump to pump gray water through a green garden hose, to a distant drain. Richard

RE: 83 and have hung up the keys

David, Sorry to see you leave the RV world. You comments about thrashing around loading and unloading is the reason we have a full service RV pad next to the house. We grab a hand full of clothes from the closet and walk to the RV closet. Hopefully our 80 year old bodies will be able to RV for a few more years. Right now I have the transmission out and the engine is almost ready to remove. Running gear needs to be refreshed. Richard

RE: Parking brake will not disengage

OP said "P-brake button". That would indicate Workhorse P32 chassis with DRUM BRAKE on the end of the transmission. So the hydraulic release pressure is not over coming the brake apply spring. To the OP. Chock a tire, then go under your coach and remove the cable pin, near the drum, that applies the E brake. That will allow you to drive to a service center. You will NOT have park or an E brake, so have you co-pilot chock the tires when you stop. Richard

RE: Overload built-in Onan gen. without popping a breaker?

But if the generator overheats, wouldn't it give you an error flash? I didn't get that. Note, I posted my generator is a NHM. My signature says 95. No error codes back then. Richard

RE: Overload built-in Onan gen. without popping a breaker?

I encountered about the same issue with my 7K NHM Onan. It shut down suddenly under heave load. I was running my 2 air conditioners and my neighbor was running his air conditioner off of my generator. My shut down was because the generator over heated. Richard

RE: Difficulty timing a 1995 Chevy 454ci

When you replaced the Dizzy, did it come with a new cap and rotor? Does the dizzy still has a black rotor, it could be arching through in the center to the metal below. Learned that the hard way. Those 50,000 volt ignition systems need a colored aftermarket rotor. I.E. white, red, blue, green, etc. Richard

RE: class A safety

As Doug & Dodge Guy suggested. Start with the toe in. I spent my younger years in the front end business and toe in is a major player in driveability. I suggest 5/32" as a good compromise between driveability and tire wear. I purchased my F53 in Tucson, AZ. and it was a struggle getting it back to K.C., MO. The toe in was Zero. I set it to 5/32" and it was drivable with one hand. Richard

RE: Ok who knows there toilet/black tank systems

If the Air Admittance Vent doesn't fix your issue. There is another possible reason for the stink inside your RV. When going down the road, the inside of the RV goes into a negative pressure, caused by the large flat area in the rear. This allows the pressure differential to induce a stink in the RV. I replace the caps on the roof vents with sanitary Ts, to put the tanks into the same pressure as the inside of our MH. Or you can purchase the rotating roof vents. Rotating roof vents. Richard

RE: yet another door look bites the dust

Clicky Good idea. But a screw driver bit and a 1/4" wrench fits in smaller areas. Richard

RE: GMC Class A

Interesting GMC Class A info. I had the privilege of touring a gathering of GMC MHs. A couple had been cut in half and extended. One had a rare fuel injected 500" Cadillac motor installed. I couldn't even count the $$ sitting in front of me. Another interesting place for GMC MH owners. Richard

RE: RV insurance claim - flood

If you feel like you are not being treated well by your insurance company, contact the state insurance agency. They are you advocate. I have used them here in MO. with positive results. Richard
