RE: Good Sam credit card opened in my name

Another tip is to lock your credit reports so another one could not be opened as soon as you cancel the first one. No credit report available = no credit card/loan/line of credit.

RE: Camping in New Zealand

The people are wonderful but the government will make you jump through many hoops. Sister in law lives in Australia and wanted to do the same kind of trip. Took almost six months of NZ looking into her finances and bank accounts, a complete list of every place they were going to stay so the reservations could be verified and a complete list of every place they wanted to see. SIL wanted to visit in summer but it was winter before the visa was issued. She cancelled the trip and then had to explain to the NZ authorities why she wasted their time.

RE: LP gas leak

Flare fittings should NEVER use any sealant. If it is leaking there is dirt or damage at one or both sides of the flare. The whole idea of a flare fitting is to make a metal to metal seal. The nut that tightens it down has no sealing ability, it is just a way to apply pressure to the flare to make the seal.

RE: Shore power question

Only thing you need to keep checking is battery fluid level. We have left ours plugged in most of the time with no ill effects.

RE: Can you name that sound (squeaking)?

I would vote for someplace in the driveshaft. Support bearings or u-joints will sound like that.

RE: absorption refrigerator out of level, boiler temp control

Another route that may help your issue is to put electronic levels in the unit and set them so the fridge will not get power unless it is within the limits for operation.

RE: Anyone heard of LIV trailers?

How well will thermoplastic hold up in the south with eight months of summer that hits 100 on a regular basis? The thermoplastic on my doors in my home can't handle it without buckling. I can't imagine trying to straighten out an entire camper shell that warped.

RE: Washington DC Advice Needed

I will second the Cherryhill suggestion. Good spot with or without the rv.

RE: Good potable water hose?

You don't need a short length between the filter and the fresh water input. Put the filter at the water hookup with one of those really short hoses with the spring on it that come with the filters. That way anything that comes thru the hose is filtered and there is no filter hanging on the water input.

RE: anti siphon device ?

Sharkbite check valve will work fine. Very low open pressure an high resistance to return. Works with most 1/2" lines including lots of flexible lines. Bring a small piece of the tubing with you so you can make sure it works with your tubing.

Keep the doors open.

RE: Not destroying the awning

You could put stakes in the ground and tie it to them but it will reach a point where you do not destroy the awning but rip the mounts off the side of the camper. If you keep things outside that cannot get wet the best bet is to put them in totes and store them under the camper. Keeping the awning out in the wind is not a very good idea. Awnings and campers are not built the way they used to be.

RE: Travel Trailers vs Motor Home

We never actually owned a motorhome but rented them quite a bit before we decided on a travel trailer. The decision was based on practicality as once we were set up with the motorhome we were basically trapped in the campground. A travel trailer gave us the flexibility to explore once we set up the trailer.

RE: 2004 Trail Bay 27DS Water Heater/

The only way to get the exact model number is to look at the label on it. Manufacturers can and do vary what model goes into their units depending on availability and what the original owner may have ordered.

RE: Camp light from Aliexpress - don't!

Try looking at OLight. I replaced all my AA and AAA powered lights with rechargeables from them. I have no connection to the company other than buying their products.
