RE: Generator question

We have 5500 built in on our toy hauler and runs on gas. I don't think I'd like using propane since we often run overnight or for entire weekends. Will run both a/c's.
Previous camper we used a 3000 Yamaha. Great generator and good fuel economy. Minor inconvenience to plug it in. Ran one 15,000 btu a/c fine.
If you don't have generator prep on your rig, I'd go with portable.

RE: Using a Cpap in my AF 27-5

I have a small Jackery that I paid around $2-$300. Works fine. Recharge in the truck during the day as we drive.

RE: Onan Running Problems

My 5500 on toy hauler in signature was boiling the fuel, then shutting down. We made a shroud to channel the exhaust side away from the air intake side. The symptoms made is appear to be a clogged carb/fuel filter or bad fuel pump.

RE: Running a/c off generator while towing

Yes we do run A/C when travelling if we feel it's needed. But we have a toy hauler with built in Onan.

RE: Ozarks camping

Id you're travelling from Detroit area you could hit Hannibal, MO (Mark Twain's home, etc), then south to St. Louis (Arch, etc). From there, go to Hermann (wineries). Next stop Lake of the Ozarks (rent a boat during a weekday). On south to Springfield and Branson. Someone mentioned Echo Bluff. Haven't been there but hear it's great.
All these areas will have private campground choices. If you're a state parker, reservations may be a bit tougher, especially weekends.

RE: Good Low cost Camping Map Books for The West?

Good Sam Campground directory is like a phone book for rv parks, state parks, etc. for the entire country. I also carry a regular atlas. It has quite a few of the various attractions marked in red.
Many states still print vacation guides you can request online.

RE: Fifth Wheel or TT?

We have a 5er toy hauler now and others have given plenty of advice on the benefits.
If you go the TT route, toy hauler or not, buy a good hitch. Hensley and ProPride are the best. Work as advertised. I've owned the Hensley. I wouldn't tow a TT without one of these. The price will scare you, but look at the costs you will have in a truck, RV, etc. It's not that much more.
